After trying your breathing/trigger control technique, I fired a 1/4 MOA group at 200 yds with a stock factory rifle. Thank you. Going out to 400yds next!
Very helpful, thanks Frank. I'm actually a clay shooter, but I do love rifles. Had a quick lesson a couple of weeks ago with an ex British Army sniper.
Thanks frank ye I’m getting that breathing circle after seeing how you do it, I don’t get why you have 3 thumbs down after all you are a master sniper I don’t understand that, any one not knowing how to breath has just had a lesson on how to, fantastic stuff keep up the good work, I’m learning if no one else is, as at some point ill be going to the USA arazonna extreme bench shooting compaction
Thank you for the video. I learned a lot about the right timing. When I breathe out, is it better to breathe out with a little "force" or do I just relax my diaphragm so that the pressure of the atmosphere presses the air out of my lungs until the point where pressures in the lung and in the surrounding are balanced? Thank you again for the video
Very instructive video - it’s the first time that I’ve seen any technical info on shooting a rifle. I notice that you don’t take your heart beat cycle into account. The reason I say this is that I’ve been watching biathlon athletes whose heart rates are in the 180/190 range when they get to the shooting range. I assume they have to fire between heart beats in order for their bodies to be as still as possible. Does this same approach apply to snipers ?
I made a mechanism where I can aim my rifle with knobs instead of using my body aiming it What I did is modify my bipod what the bipod does is it has knobs that lift the rifle up down left right using knobs kinda like how a scientist look through a microscope and use knobs to see where looking at. Basically the same concept of aiming rifle like a microscope so at range I made a 5,000 yard shot with this the knobs really work to aim it when I used it. It took no skill to aim no scope sway because it is stable with a bipods and I'm not aiming using my body I'm just adjusting the knobs to aim my rifle like a microscope
A machine rest will typically be a good indicator of rifle/ammunition quality but of course it is not practical for most shooting sports thus it is not a substitute for marksmanship whereby a solid position factoring natural point of aim, muscular relaxation, and bone/artificial support is applied.
Excellent explanation. I've been using this technique for a while but I have trouble with tension building in my neck and shoulders as I increase pressure on the trigger. Do you have any suggestions on how I might get over this? When I dry fire I don't have the tension building up. I can remain relaxed and break the shot.
Sounds like you could be anticipating the recoil of the shot if it's not happening when you dry fire. Make sure the rifle is secure in the shoulder and practice with a lower power round if you can. It may take a long time to train yourself to get over this as you need to get over the muscle memory you already have, and build it up scratch. Hope this helps.
I've left most of that behind but your words bring alot back to a guy when I'mma teach my girls to use a rifle and a knife...thank you Sir for your words
Is there anything you can do to stop your heartbeat moving the crosshairs? Was very noticeable aiming at a 1” target (1/4” bullseye) at 100yds. Or was there anything I might have been doing (positioning?) that was amplifying it? It was indoors (no wind) seated bench on a very small target. I haven’t noticed it shooting outdoors prone at a larger target.
I noticed you are not wearing ear protection and those rounds are WAAAY too quiet even with a suppressor. I can hear something hitting the metal targets down range, but no sonic boom. What kind of rounds you were shooting? The AXMC is chambered for .308win, .300WM and .338LM, none of them have subsonic loads as far as I know. I’m genuinely intrigued.
Have you tried it? 9x scope power at 100 metres or more, attempting to put the bullets almost within the same hole? As the rifle butt is against the shoulder and lifted up a little by the left arm or hand, the blood pulses at these contact points creating a wobble of the cross hair on the target. If you're only trying to hit a pie plate at 100 yards, the breathing isn't essential. But high accuracy, or very long distances, and all of these little variables add up to inconsistently placed shots unless they can be controlled or anticipated.
Great video, i even apply this when im shooting FT 🔫🔫👊
Thanks Jay, glad you enjoyed it!
My boy a shooter
@@OpticsWarehouse1 I enjoyed it, too. good techniques on breathing. Thank you
As a long retired sniper from a Commonwealth army, I was very interested at seeing this video. Simple and forthright instruction. Thank you Frank.

Simple but effective
alright, this is the first time someone explained it in a way i understand
Glad we could help. Thanks for watching!

Thank you very much.
No worries!
The little detail of the controller killed me, I can't explain how many times I've seen "press L3 to hold your breath"
Really good demostration of proper breathing prior to firing. Thanks

If you don't mind me asking. What round are you shooting? I like it to be very quiet.
Hi there, it was a .762 subsonic combined with the shrouded barrel of the AXMC. Thanks for watching!
I’m here taking lessons for virtual reality gaming (onward vr)
same lol
I like how this AX-308 is quiet
But you used subsonic ammunition, right?
We did here yes, and thanks for watching!
Nice demo... Is its ok to dry fire those Accuracy international's rifles ? I know some manufacturers say not to !
Thanks! Occasionally it is fine but we wouldn't doing it often!
@@OpticsWarehouse1 Thanks for being honest. I guess the best thing is to have some snap cap rounds for practicing loading and breathing etc.
I have dry fired my AXMC thousands if times, and with dozens of rifles, never had a problem.
Can't see why an AI would be any different.
@@WalkaboutUK Well its not recommended by some manufacturers like Tikka ..

Great video - thank you ! btw, you’re breathing out carbon dioxide (CO2) - not oxygen (O2) thanks again !
If you want to be pedantic we exhale 78% nitrogen, 16% oxygen, and 4% carbon dioxide. So his statement still stands correct.

1/4 table spoon of some GABA and you'll be as steady as ice
Wow never knew breathing was involved
And it should not be involved since it distracts from shooting during natural pause.
What caliber is your rifle?
I got steady hands
The Xbox controller in the thumbnail had me done
I’m not hating but having a tripod and sandbag makes it where you don’t really have to breath in such a way.
