In Gullfoss, recover brings sounds that are being dominated by other sounds forward in the mix, tame pushes dominate sounds further back into the mix.
I always come back to this video when my head is getting complicated, I'm just learning and watching different vids on how to apply effects and mix, love the simplicity, simple is best, thanks buddy! ;D

Send all your melodies into a single bus. Create a drum bus, and side chain the drum bus with the melody bus. Also, if you have a reverb send, route the reverb to the melody bus. I do this all the time and it gives tons of head room for drums and melody reverb without anything clashing. Also helps the drums sound a lot more clear :)

The difference is in the impact of the low and hi end material. After spending two weeks making Drill or Trap going straight into a lofi mix wiill sound confusing at first. 😂 always remember to recalibrate your brain. Lofi hits soft with lots of depth (and tape emus)

When I mix my drums I find it sounds better when you take out the mids instead of taking out the highs.
