This is a 10 Minute Coherent Breathing Timer designed to help you breathe slowly, with a visual breathing bubble, and bell sounds. The breathing rate is set at 5 breaths per minute (5 BPM). Breathe in for 6 seconds, and then breathe out for 6 seconds. Breathe softly and quietly through your nose, focusing on the subtle movements of expansion and deflation around your diaphragm. Paying particular attention to the lateral movement of your lower ribs.

As I breathe in I visualise & silently say the word Calm & as I breathe out I visualise & silently say the word Heal. I find that keeps my mind from wandering & keeps me in the moment plus they’re good words for me to “hear”!
Amazing! Thank you for sharing with everyone 🙏 Yes, these mantras give the mind something to keep it occupied and bring warmth and positivity to the practice. Sometimes on the out-breath I use self compassion phrases like "may I be safe", "may i be kind to myself. " I say them really slowly and gently with a smile. Wishing you all the best.
Thank you so much. Found I could.Breathe into lower rib lungs. Would like to continue regular practice to alter my chemistry exchange and mind calming.
Wonderful! Go gently and breathe softly and quietly. 🙏
This is my favorite song
One of the best videos , seriously man
Thank you!
Thanks!
@esalinardi22, thank you so much for your kind donation 🙏🏻
thanks, I'm using it meanwhile I'm working in my comp.or when I walk. very useful
Great! Keep the breathing light and gentle 🙏🏻
These are fabulous!!! Thank you for making these. SO helpful!!!
This is changing my life for the better, thank you 😊
You're so welcome! Thank you for sharing @DBASSDAN 😄
Wow thanks! This helped me exercise in the most simple way 👍
Glad it helped!
Excellent breathing exercise...just perfect in every sense.. Kudos Mr. Niel
Thank you for your kind words @vepurisubrahmanyam1368 🙏
Do you have more like this? If so you should make a playlist i listen to this one every day
Good idea, just created the playlist (also added to bottom of channel page). Here you go: ua-cam.com/play/PLSTo-HpulVrBxQHF372T_8fU6enpG2QJ-.html
Thanks , but please do one that is longer (20 minutes+ ) :)
Thank you 🙏 Its on my (long) list. You can get UA-cam to play it on a loop, if you want, have a google 🙏
Thank you for these videos. Is it OK to do this laying down?
Yes, absolutely. Some people find it helpful to lay in semi-supine with the fleet flat on the floor and the knees rising up in the air.
I use this every day and really love it! Is there any app that's just like this but allows you to set the duration? Or do you guys have any equivalent videos for something like 15s in, 15s out?
duckduckgo "youtube to mp3" then save to device -> loop
Android app - Breathing
@@keanocrilly9557 are you telling me the name of a specific app (I don't see one with that name)? If you're just telling me to search the app store for breathing apps, I've certainly tried that before posting this comment. I tried many and nothing is comparable to this format.
Hi Neil, is it or similar available in insigttimer app as a timer set? I'm tracking my improvement on it so that would be really practical for me.
It's in my list, should be in insight timer in the next couple of months. Stay tuned....
Is it useful for someone who stutter!??
I've not seen any direct evidence, but it may help from a stress reduction perspective. Might be worth a try.
so should this be the default breath when we aren't doing buteyko exercises?
Just to clarify, the coherent breathing exercise isn't Buteyko. But regarding the Buteyko exercises, when you practice them regularly over time, your default breathing will become slower and lighter, but this is a very gradual process. When you are not doing the breathing exercises, just allow your body to breathe naturally. Hope that helps 🙏🏻
Started Doing this every hour
For co2 tolerance lets see what will be the result.
My po2 is 148mmhg
Pco2 is 35.7mmhg
And ph is about 7.421.
I am always fatigued, difficulty thinking, brain fog, very dry skin and hair, very low sweat production,
My all other blood tests are optimal except for potassium which is slightly low.
Breathe gently, softly and quietly. Relax into the body. Listen to your body while you do it. Perhaps start with 3 times a day to avoid stressing the body. 🙏🏽
@@thebuteykomethod thanks for the reply. Ok i am lowering it to 4 times per day.
Please reply later if i need your help.
@@thebuteykomethod sir i use oximeter while doing this exersice my spo2 decrease to 87-92%
And sometimes perfusion index increase upto 11%
While my normal perfusion index is 0.0 to 0.4%
Is this a good sign ??
I can’t really offer any specific health advice - but I would say to listen to your body. Feelings of calm, mental clarity, warmth and increased saliva in the mouth are positive signs that you have the technique right. You should have a mild air hunger but not feel stress or tension in the body. If you have an specific health issues, I would recommend working directly with a Buteyko practitioner (myself or someone local to you). Hope that helps 🙏🏽
@@muhammadjibranali7730 I do know that while you are doing this regulated breathing, it's an exercise.. so anytime you're doing something physical, even with this light breathwork, it will decrease your oxygen saturation during.. but just temporarily. You should quickly recover. I would find your starting number and then don't take a reading until about a minute after you're finished with the exercise. Maybe also take your waking up level, before getting out of bed, to see your average levels. And see if after doing this exercise daily, after several days, if your morning wake up levels have gotten any better.
The problem is that i time it with my hrv device visual indicator so if it restart i need to stop my session and retime it....
Ah I see. I will get round to doing some longer ones but it might not be for a while. Thank you for the feedback though 🙏
Thank you!
Can I lay down on my back while doing this…
Yes - just go gently and make sure that you are not over-breathing. This one has full instructions on how to slow breathe safely: ua-cam.com/video/MkscOWI8aNc/v-deo.htmlsi=HJhgb9mQxIldsKLn
Thank you!
do you have a shorter videolike 2 or 3 minutes thanks
I don't, but you could just listen for 2 to 3 minutes and then pause? Would that help or did I misunderstand the question?
that would work brilliantly. thanks much :)@@thebuteykomethod
Hope it helps my breathing… I be short of breath or air hungry here and there for some reason doctor claim it’s from acid reflux also recently heard of something called pseudo shortness of breath
If you are short of breath and with air hunger, then you might be better starting with this one: ua-cam.com/video/ZZvgKzySOgU/v-deo.htmlsi=ukDiMjL8drOUGduu
@@thebuteykomethod thank you sometimes it’s hard for me to tell
The difference if it’s air hunger or short of breath I think it’s air hunger cause when I’m able to get that deep breath I don’t feel that feeling anymore
@@callmesupreme1533 When we have air hunger, we feel like we want to take deeper breaths, but actually this just feeds the air hunger in the long term. It's better to learn to take softer, quieter, more gentle breaths as this will retrain the body so we won't get the air hunger any more. Over time this will also help to improve diaphragm function, which can help to reduce symptoms of acid reflux by supporting the function of the LES valve at the top of the stomach.
@@thebuteykomethod I was told I had acid reflux years ago silent .. thank you I’ll continue to do these breathing exercises ♥️🙏🏽hope it helps me
While I was doing this coherent breathing practice I felt a mixture of calm, peace, and dizziness simultaneously is a common thing to happen when someone is doing this breath work?
The dizziness is caused by over-breathing, which you really want to avoid. You are effectively hyperventilating, which reduces blood flow and oxygen delivery to the brain and causes long term breathing problems. Maybe your breaths smaller, silent and gentle, ideally feeling a mild shortage of air/air hunger during the exercise. If it still makes you feel dizzy, then discontinue or find a breathing coach such as myself to help you. I made a video about how to do slow breathing safely here (the second guided exercise in particular): ua-cam.com/video/MkscOWI8aNc/v-deo.html
@@thebuteykomethodthanks for your response. I'm about to try again and see if I feel any changes in my body.
15 plus minutes later after this deep breathing exercise my heart level, is at the calmest it has ever been before!
Amazing work adapting the breathing! That is really wonderful how you have been able to reach such a deep state of calm 🙏
@@thebuteykomethod I did this twice this morning and at night and I fell asleep toward the end of the breath work - what is that a sign of from your standpoint?
Inhale from nose but exhale from nose or mouth?
Breathe in and out through the nose (softly, quietly, gently). See this video for more information on the technique: ua-cam.com/video/UK3evBQkeEU/v-deo.htmlsi=2yWYuzhvi5Afdwew. Hope it helps 🙏
Thank you , just too bad it don't last longer
Many thanks - I'll do a longer one at some point 🙏
