When I was 17 in 1978, I remember like it was yesterday reading the testing of the Porsche 911 Turbo in Car & Driver.
$28,000…and I thought that was a fortune!
When I was 2 minutes younger I remember reading this exact coming.
$28'000 IN 1978 is the equivalent of $140'000 today.
Considering I made $2.85 hr….
That was A LOT.
Now I make $300,000 yr….and that’s STILL A LOT!
I could buy one…. But Cant imagine how much I’d have to earn to truly afford these things.
In 1978 it was 10k hours of gross work (pre tax), 28000/2.85. Today it’s about the same, 200k corresponds to 10k hours of a base Walmart/fast food employee. The difference is in what you get back with those 10k hours, today you get a much more capable car. So effectively your time is worth more today than in 1978.

Brooks, that Porsche is so amazing! I went 10.63 @ 128 mph for the 1/4 mile in my Model 3 Performance yesterday. All my times are on Dragy and I am submitting them to DragTimes today. I am moving to Maryland next week. If you ever want to review and test my car you are more than welcome to. If you are in Maryland just let me know and I will set it up so you can test it.

Wow congrats that's the fastest time so far! 48k for a 10s car is the deal of the decade! There will be an OTA boost upgrade in the future too for 2-3k to 600hp
@@larryc1616 there won’t be any upgrade. It already makes 613 HP at the battery. The battery is maxed out. I have all of the data to demonstrate that.

911 was my dream car…they say never meet your heroes & that was true for me never really got on with the rear engine layout & the 992 was just to stiff for British potholed roads…swopped for McLaren 570gt, mid engined is definitely the configuration for me…is it as well built no but heck it drives so much better & has been pretty reliable 👍

Even when I add the full ceramic IR tint to the windows - it's still not possible to have a dark interior at least in Texas. I've always had to get the tan interior for my Porsches.

The turbo S is definitely a bang for the buck car. For those numbers and performance all around I can't think of a better choice. I love the SF90 to though lol just not as practical of course.
Wow, must of been tough to part with the SF90 but psyched to see your first Porsche in the lineup! It looks really good in Red. Pretty outrageous how much they charge to change the gauge RPM to red and the clock trim for $800! But the Porsche light symbol to the ground for $160 is a no brainier. Not sure sure they make so many things optional. Gets kind of silly really. That Cybertruck is looking cool with that blue wrap. You don't need to break in the engine at all before that 0-60?

Get the upcoming 992.2 turbo S lightweight or gt2rs, both of which apparently will be a hybrid.. Then get it maxed out aftermarket tuned to 1600-1800+hp.. Otherwise just stick with the upcoming temarario which rumors say will have 940hp in the USA and then aftermarket tune it with full bolt ons to get 1500+hp so that way you don't lose at all to the upcoming 1250hp Zora.. You'll need to tune it to 1800+hp to keep up with the bugatti tourbillon though..

Congratulations and awesome car. After seeing this video I wish I had gotten those seats, they are awesome. I also love the high gloss black on the rear at the bottom, I tried to get it as a separate option but they would not let me. I am going to Chicago Auto Pros once I get my car. I will show them your video, that really adds to the look. Congratulations again, mine is very similar and this has been helpful.
Love the Turbo S.. The only issue I have with them is the sound. A full exhaust is must unless blending in being the everyday supercar is the main use for the car. REALLY wish we could a 992 slant nose. Rear engine cars have no business being that fast.
