you would think 7 years later they would come back and edit that out lol... my 4 year old can tell the differences between a rockfish cab and ling lmao
Nice bunch of Oregon ling cod and black rock fishing. A little too much PEW for me near the shows end without catching fish sequences. Looked like a bunch of fun!
I would love to take my family out. we are native oregonians and we love to fish. we fish off the jetty at barview, clam and crab in Garibaldi. we live inland in the valley, but if you ever need an extra hand....shout! I'll pay gas and clean 'em. :) I would be one happy mama!
Cabezon are not struggling on the Northern Oregon Coast! There are tons! I have caught over a dozen in one day....one was over 18 lbs! ODFW needs to reevaluate!
TheFishingGuru46 hi fishing guru, I am the fish guru, you can't accurately identify a rockfish from a quick video without the camera zooming in on specific features. With that being said, it's absolutely a rockfish, not a cabazon (sculpin). You can easily see that from the dorsal spines and the anal spines. And I am talking about the fish at 3:48
That is why I like gone for rockfish and lings that is why I always liked throw some of the smaller Lings back because that way I know that is the best way to do it and when you're fishing for lings they will take good size soft plastic baits all the way up to 12" long soft plastic baits you always wanna go with a big Bait we're when you're going out for lings
Great vid. what scent do you suggest for rockfish up in Tillamook bay or in general and what brand? Also, is there any particular good spots up in Tillamook bay. Thanks
I'm not trying to be condescending but those lingcod are pretty small. I've actually never seen them that small commercial fishing out of Washington or Alaska.
Rockfish don't fight much, I find it kind of boring. I haven't found a good way to cook those things either, soft texture with a mild flavor. They are good for tourism.
If your rockfish is mushy, than it's not being handled correctly from the time it's cooked to the time it's eaten. Make sure the fish gets cleaned correctly and put on ice. Don't ever let the meat soak in water. They do have a mild flavor but it's a great flavor if cooked correctly. In this episode-- ua-cam.com/video/LqzOH--rWOo/v-deo.html there are segments on making tartar sauce and on frying fish so it doesn't turn out mushy. Try steaming it with fresh basil, thyme and rosemary some time.
1Howdy1 Bleed them and put them on ice fast. Do the same after filleting..DON'T soak them. Fried up and spiced correctly make great fish tacos. That being said, I prefer Lingcod and Red tail Surf Perch. ;)
We can catch these fish from almost any shoreline around Victoria BC Canada no need for a boat . Expect the Halibut, But all other rock fish species and Lings no prob from the shore
I would to talk to about bringing fish you tell them turth about the fishery about they let over fishing by big factory troller from over seas like China Japan koria wipe out are fishery's . I was 15 yr com. Fisherman out of Astoria so tell these people the truth . I'd like to talk to you by phone
i love fishing over at the coast. its always fun and you always get something
3:48 the guy called a quillback rockfish a cabezon
Even I knew it wasn't a cabby.
How do you mix that up with a quillback.
It looked nothing like a Cabezon.
you would think 7 years later they would come back and edit that out lol... my 4 year old can tell the differences between a rockfish cab and ling lmao
I know! I was going to comment on that.

THAT WAS NOT A CABEZON THAT WAS A QUILLBACK ROCKFISH

TheFishingGuru46 but quillback is my #1 educated guess also ;)
@@checkle1 100% that was a quillback at 3:48
Man What a blast!!!!
In california youre legally only allowed 2 hooks when rock fishing noncommercially
It was a Quillback rockfish, lol. I commercial fish on the Oregon coast, 90% of the time I know what I have on my line about immediately.

*shows rockfish*
“This here is a black marlin”
Hey at 1:14 is that the same bridge that was in One Flew Over the Cukoo's Nest? Great video thanks for sharing!

Rockfish are stupid and will go after just about anything. They cluster tightly, so the trick is finding the school. Easy to limit once you do.
cory fy you don't need scent, unless you just want to spend more money. ;)
The Copper Rock fish around 48 seconds is not a Cabazon.
Not a copper either it is a quillback rock fish
I see now plenty of other people pointed out that was a quillback, lol
Those were some big cabs'. They may be mostly bone, but they also have the sweetest meat.
NICE WORK JUSTIN TALK TO YA SOON!!!!
Supposed Experts here don’t even know the difference between rock fish and cabezon. Nice
The problem I have with this is that from what I can tell sardines are better for us than the larger predators. Balance is the answer.
how deep were you fishing matey
What pro cure scent do you feel works the best for rock fish
Love the video, but that wasnt a cabezon. That was some type of rockfish, you should be able to touch a cabys fins no problem.
Caught some nice rockfish the lower mainland of BC today.
that cabazon was a quillback rockfish....
Blue Rockfish

what kind of rods were you using for them?
HATINTHEKAT
Buy ugly sticks
3:48 not a cabby 😂
For everyone asks what scent? You don't use scent or even need it. You can tell hatchery fishermen by them asking what scents to use lol
3:40 bro that is not a cabezon
loosen the drag and fight the fish like it owns you

Angler West TV Thanks, I'll try that out - I'll eat them if I can improve the texture.

I like my meat to taste like meat, if it taste sweet, I'd say something isn't right. Lol.
