"BAD DAY" Of Rock Fishing Turns AMAZING!! LIMIT Of Black Sea Bass

- Опубліковано 30 лис 2024
every time my wife and I fish for black rock fish we are learning more with each cast and from your videos with different swim baits and now starting to catch more and bigger fish, thanks
It always makes my day to know that these videos have helped someone is some way! Thanks for watching, Good luck out there to you and the Mrs.
Dude...this is my favorite Channel!!! Coming up with one of my boys (17) and two of his buddies at the end of the month. Staying at Kelly's in Brighton. Hope to see you around Barview!
Love finding more local Oregonian and generally Northwestern outdoors channels! Happy to have found yours here today too! I miss Yaquina a lot, I need to get down there again soon. It's definitely in my goals for sure in the long run, including for my channel here. I am just starting out with my first video today, and am excited to see where this journey will take me and how it will develop, where I will go and when. Hope to see you out there when I make it there!
Wow. That was a huge sea trout and some great looking bass. What a day.
A 15" kelp greenling is expert at making you think you have a 26" ling on the line. They crack me up.
Man, love watching your channel! It’s kept me company while unable to get out, recovering from a leg injury! Thanks!
I hope you have a speedy recovery, but i could use the views so don't heal too fast lol... thanks for the support, glad to be able to provide some entertainment during your downtime!
Same haha, I am right near all these places but need knee to recover a bit more fro man injury.
Great viddy thanks dude. Went out to the jetties tonight got skunked but enjoyed the beauty.
A heads up for when you get rocked by a fish. Once you've realized your near catch has you stuck put lots of slack on your line. Enough so if fishing with mono you could see the corkscrew curl. Being careful of not getting your line tangled in the rocks between you and waters edge. When the fish no longer feels threatened it will swim off. Your rod will come to life and you're back in business. This method is not 100% but works more times than not and is better than just snapping off your near catch.
Nice day fishing after all! 👍👏. Thanks for sharing Nick!
Thanks for watching! haha my proudest moment is when i was obviously losing motivation and perked myself up and told myself i was going to go change my luck... im glad it worked :)
Oregon guy here. Been loving your videos.
Hell’s yeah buddy. Good job look’n out for mama! And if i haven’t said it before; thank you for your service.
Good job Nick
Good stuff right there . Love your jetty videos 💯
Thank You, it says a lot when i am passing up some chances on spring chinook to get out and fish the jetty and coast in general... i enjoy doing these videos.. hopefully i cant get back to chasing salmon soon..
Another great video. You fished the Jetty with the least pressure. Long walk out there but it paid off & and above all it made your Mom happy!!
Thank You, lol every time i'm walking back i always tell myself i'm done making the long trek out there, but something always keeps me coming back. It's a lot of work for no guarantee of catching fish.. days like this make it worth it. My mom was super excited about the cooler full of fish i brought to her!
Nice grind for a limit!
Thank you, this was such an amazing day!
Awesome 👍.,. I haven't done much jetty fishing. We do catch some, but always looking for something new. Keep the videos going 👍
I have caught trout and steel head on that same swim jig you started out with
Beautiful colors on the first Lingcod.
Definitely! I’ve caught a lot of the brownish ones, it’s always cool finding those blueish ones. I can’t wait to get back out there!
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Just because( You Tube videos) I'm getting a 13 foot Rainshadow surfcasting spinning rod built at Fisherman's Outlet in Sequim to fish up here on the Olympic Peninsula. I wouldn't mind catching a few surf perch with some blackbass or ling cod thrown in.
One thing I've noticed about people catching these fish is how they treat them, and whether the fish are kept or not is handling. You seem to handle them appropriatly, not all UA-camrs do.
A wonderful days fishing pal.. and another great video.. Keep it safe..
Thank You, i'm glad i stuck it out and things turned around. It's a long drive to get to the coast and i always hate having to go home without fish or content at least.. Thanks for watching!
You gave us good tips at the parking lot before we went out on the jetty. I didnt quite have the right colors for the bite but watching your videos makes me a believer! 🤙
Fish on brother.
That was a great video ,fun fun fun⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Killed it
Like always great video. You be smacking them bass and ling
Great string of fish.
I hope to run into you sometime, haven’t fished much since I was a kid. Got my license and tags, first time in about 20 years. Best Regards from East of Jefferson.
Those are my favorite plastics too use on jetty by far usual the bigger the better for me ,love your show always
What i've found recently at least in my case is that bigger isn't better. I had the most luck with just medium sized jigs that actually resemble fish..like those storm. they may cost more but you can bet i'm about to go clear out fishermans marine lol. Thanks for watching, i appreciate the continued support
This is fishing for the Fishing Olympics. One false step and you're "swimming with the fishes." Great video. I wouldn't last five minutes crawling over those rocks. Reminds me of the times my dad lost his entire box of bait, while climbing over rocks that were not in the same league as these. Gotta be in shape, that's for sure.
Nick amazing footage. Thanks good job.
Nice video. I'm a new jetty fisherman . I'll try that bunker next time I go to Ilwaco, Wa.
Keep up the great work. Your videos are are awesome. So much information.
Super video OK
love the videos keep on catching!
Thank you! I've been putting in the extra work lately and have to say i'm pretty happy with the results... thanks for watching, got some good ones on the way
Dope video and great spot!
Great job Nick!!!
Fun video, Nick, and was cool to see that you got a ling while there was still some light!
Was great meeting you out there, and I look forward to seeing your next videos.
Cheers,
Erik
Thank you, i'm glad the day turned around and i was able to bring some fish home for my mom. It was good meeting you out there.. I watched your video catching the black rockfish on the fly, pretty cool to see. I tried twitching a salmon jig and letting it flow with the current as well.. no hits but nothing else was working at the time either.. Should have the next video out in a few days. Had another good trip and i'm pretty sure one of the black rockfish i caught was bigger than the one in this video!! Hope to see ya out there again!
Nick the video is awesome 👌
Thanks Elias!! hope you are doing well... i have a video coming out in a couple of weeks that will BLOW YOUR MIND!!
Bad ass video Nick way to go be safe man thanks for your hard work.
Thank you, this turned into a great day.. i'm glad i stuck it out
My great aunt and uncle use to live just past that house in the background. I always wanted to fish that spot. But that was like 25 to 30 years ago. I was just a kid, So I never got a chance to. Great video! That Kelp was a dinger!
I definitely want to do a bit more exploring around there... looks like a fishy area... not many know where that is :)
Nice job bro..
Big fan
Hope to see ya on the sandy some where...
Thank you, i appreciate the support... i'm about ready to start hitting the rivers again.. hope to see ya out there!
YESss!!!!
Nice work, Nick! Keep the videos coming.
Thank You Michael. I appreciate the continued support
always watch your videos to get pumped before i go out! will be going out perch fishing at sand lake but don't see much for rockfishing around there.
Nice actions on the Newport north jetty there, now I know where I will be going next time when the swell is around 3ft, thanks for the share!
Haha If 3ft swells is all your banking on, good luck, and be safe out there.
Haha If 3ft swells is all your banking on, good luck, and be safe out there.
@@AnglingAddictsPNW lol, if it’s inside the jetty channel then no problem with bigger swell. But the outer jetty i prefer less wet 😂
@@bebe0928 lol I hear ya there.. the swells on the ocean side can get ridiculous!! The spot I was at in the channel seemed to be deeper than the surrounding area. I wasn’t surprised there were fish around.. doesn’t always produce but I like getting away from the masses.. thanks for watching
@@AnglingAddictsPNW thanks for the information! I prefer Tillamook more just because it’s more consistent than Newport in the channel. Once again thanks for chatting with me!
Thanks for the Upload!
Thanks for watching! this was a lot of fun, i'm glad i was able to end with a good load of fish!
Awesome catch. I gotta try out those lures
Killin it Nick!
haha thanks man, i've had a few crappy trips in there as well but i'm always trying to learn and try different things... been working lately!
be careful out there man never turn your back on the ocean!
I've got a load of respect for the power of the ocean and am always 100% tuned in to what's going on... waves are unpredictable but theres always those few that want to be bigger than the rest and come out of nowhere.. i always have my quick exit route picked out and have no problem dropping everything and running. I appreciate the looking out, just know i'm always doing my best to be safe, even though i may push that safety level every now and then.. Thanks for watching
@@AnglingAddictsPNW i wear an inflatable emergency PFD that fits on like a fanny pack whenever i rockfish or when the jetty is rough. in Humboldt CA
Damn good day out fishing. Hell yea brother🤘 nice little bonus ling at the end there was decent. I can’t wait to get out Wednesday for some lingcod.
hell ya man this turned into a pretty decent day... that ling was just sprinkles on the cupcake haha.. my mom was happy with the load of fish i brought her :) How was lingcod fishing?
@@AnglingAddictsPNW bro it was killer, if you ever find yourself up in Westport go get out on the charterboat the slammer. I ended up catching a 22lb lingcod. Thing was fucking massive I could almost fit my head in it’s mouth!!
I was there catching a charter the next day. I wish I had gone down to the jetty and watched you "LIVE" instead of on video. Nice fish!
$5 admission fee to watch hahaha how was the charter?
@@AnglingAddictsPNW it was good but I only got 2 Ling cod. Limited out on the rock bass though.
Nice catch!
Great video. I bring a bucket, get water in it, then cut the gills and let them bleed out in the bucket. Tastes good. Have you shown how to filet BB's ?
Great Video!
Thank you, this turned into a fun day and i was glad to get my limit. Considering this is what i do, it'd be hard to tell my mom i didn't catch any fish for her lol.. thanks for watching!
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Yea of course!
Just picked up some Storm baits today!
I always slam black rockfish on the shad style swim baits, they can’t resist them! Best luck is with the brown/gray/silver colors with an iridescent shine to em. The super bright neon colored ones work but not as well in my experience. Cast em out one time, count down to bottom, say it’s 7 seconds to bottom, next cast wait only until 5 or 6 seconds then start a medium slow retrieve, give it a little pop or a little pause here and there, but mostly just steady retrieve. Imitates an injured baitfish really well and the rockfish can’t help but strike.
That technique always gets em, and I’d have to agree on colors. I’ve caught way less on my chartreuse and brighter swim baits than any other.
where were you at on the coast......I have fished jetty off coos bay harbor & sunset beach for flatfish & halibut
Hey man I gotta say I love all your videos. I’m always fishing barview/Newport and many other places. I’m really surprised I haven’t bumped into you yet hahaha. Nice catches bro!
Thank you! I have been running into a lot of people lately who know who i am... Honestly a lot of the time i still try to stay hidden or blend in lol. I'm all over the place so the chances are that we will cross paths at some point... until then, good luck out there!
Damn I'm sitting down here in my hotel room thinking i came up a day late . you got em all .that was a great video man .its been a while since i have had a day like that .that bass was probrably the biggest one i have seen .
Ah the power of "one more cast." A 24" ling is a _very_ nice cherry on top of a stringer of black rockfish. Mom's going to be eating like a queen for awhile.
I really enjoy learning from you, and I'm very grateful for your channel. I hope to cross paths fishing sometime. All the best brother.
Good Skill, Like 444 to watch your games!
I grew up fishing at South Laguna CA but here on the Oregon coast I have yet to find ideal rocky locations where fishing is permitted. I would love to know the location in this video. I'm not opposed to jetty fishing but I have always enjoyed my time fishing on natural rocks more than on a man made jetty and I caught more fish there too. By the way, I love your lessons on fishing rigs and tips!
What size do the kelp greenly need to be? How many can you keep?
In Oregon we don't have a size limit on Kelp Greenling and the limit is whatever the limit is for regular rockfish, typically 5
Great vids! I just built a place in Oceanside and bought a 21’ Seahawk. Went out with Garibaldi Adventures last Sunday to see if I feel confident confident heading over the bar on a nice day…swell was 3’ @11 seconds, I’d say that is a good swell to learn on, on that bar. If you’re ever up for going out, let me know. I’m a complete rookie fisherman. My gas, your knowledge?
Nice
Thanks Dan!
Nice work
Thank you, this turned into a good day and i was happy to be able to bring a bunch of fish to my mom
Limit nirvana. Congratulations.
thank you, That's what i thought too.. then i went out and fished a new area and had the BEST FISHING DAY OF MY LIFE! the video is done but won't be out for another week or two.
You worked hard! Great payoff!
Way to turn it around, man! You just had to hunt em down a little bit lol
LoL I was watching this and I was like...hey! I know that guy! We deployed together...I seen you on that 14/15 deployment to Afghanistan.
Hey I was wondering what end of the Oregon coast would you recommend for any sorta coast fishing north or south or central thanks and I love your channel awesome vids
Great video. Do you ever go out on a boat?
Hey love your videos! What kind of swimbates and jigs are you using. I'm starting to get into this and was curious.
Where are you at on the coast
What hook size do you recommend for jighead? 3?
How do you find these locations? Is it just going out and looking or do you use maps?
do you ever fish the florence area?
Awesome vid! That jetty looks easy to walk too! I'm in WA and the jettys here are NOT like that! Liked and subscribed! I checked out the website too. What is the Veteran Program about? I made the account. I am a US Army vet, service connected disability rating. Thanks for the great video! Looking forward to watching more!
🤙
Are you in shore acres there?
That is one of my favorite spots to go. Great video man
Thanks, there are a few spots i like to fish but have to wait for the right conditions... some of the good spots have the worst conditions and you just have to find that right window of time.. I go back to a lot of these spots and come up empty handed, just gotta play the conditions
Where exactly is this?
Where do you fish at?
What time of year is best for rock fish
Oh man that could be hard to answer but MY favorite time is spring
How many lbs is your line,?
When I'm rock fishing it's almost always 50lb braid and 30lb fluorocarbon
By ⏲️ time thanks for the video
Thanks for watching.... without the viewers, i'm just some guy uploading stuff on youtube.. i couldn't be more appreciative of the support!
I hooked a spring salmon a couple years ago on one of those rage swimmers in that same spot. Lost it obviously I was only running 15lb line
I would love to hook a salmon from the jetty! i have yet to try but i think when i do, i will bring a net with me!! That had to be a fun fight though!
7:33 - Sea Trout species you said it was ?. What species of Sea Trout is it ? Kelp ien ? sounds like your saying .
Kelp Greenling
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Thanks for the info. .
Great video man👍🏼. Is a Okuma Rockaway 9ft medium heavy a good rod for rock fishing?
Thank you.... the 9ft is a great rod for rock fishing! Longer is just better when you have more rocks to reach over.. The rockaway is a good, affordable rod. Obviously i have the 12ft but i think i'm going to pick up the 10ft as well... Good luck!
Who thumbs down a fishing video
haha there is always someone.... whether it's something i say or do, a butt hurt youtuber who thinks im intruding on "their turf" or even someone who knows where this spot is and doesnt like that its on video.... either way, i don't care. I just do what i do.
The fish. That's who!!!
@@cramcrams7741 underrated lol
Where is this location? Nice video 👏👍
Have you ever been free dive spear fishing?
Are you fishing on the ocean side?
Buck owens mainly skipped all this and went after catfish. More reliable, and basically, it kinda made him cry when he had to think about you know who. Otherwise, he generally was a teetotaler; except for lots of beer. It gets super hot down bakersfield way. He just as soon make tamales for dinner than fish anyways.
Great stuff what rod are you using?
He put that in the description, I think it was an Okuma 12 foot surf rod and an Ugly Stik 8'6" Heavy that he listed. The Pflueger President P40 I think was the reel he listed.
What is the limit black sea bass
For the next 2 days it is still 6 black rockfish but on Monday May 10th the limit drops to 5 fish...
ok thank you
Man, please be careful especially fishing alone on the jetties and cliff edges. Get an inflatable PFD vest they are lightweight and won't get in your way and only activate when you hit the water. People look at me weird for wearing them on jetties but shits goes down I'll be alive. You can't be too careful out there in the water. Beside that great videos man!
Last time I was at that spot the wind was so damn bad I couldn't even get a 4oz dart down before it was blown in the wall
I always say the one consistency in fishing is the inconsistency... weather and conditions play such a huge roll in weather its going to be a good or bad day... and i absolutely hate fishing with the wind blowing hard, it's one thing to get your gear down but to even be able to fish it properly is a whole other ordeal lol.... thats fishing. Most of the time that ocean side sucks to fish!
Back at the Lingcod Lagoon
haha yeah, i think i'm about to start heading further up north to my usual stomping grounds and see how things are looking
Man dude, north side eh? We spend two days last week on the S. side... got skunked, I just don't get it.
The fish move.. i've had plenty of trips with no fish and just losing gear... i always say that the one constant in jetty fishing is inconsistency. I just try to play the conditions and go where it's going to be best. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. The best thing is to not stay in one spot if you arent catching fish... some people will just throw cast after cast and never move... Just keep at it... gonna head back up to barview and fish there again soon.. it's been a while
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Thx for the advice man, we drove by barview the other day, looked rough! We'll keep trying!!
Jetty fishing is challenging at so many levels. If you crushed it every time it would quickly get boring. Embrace the suck.
That’s why be of the reasons I headed south.. for a while there it was just too rough at barview and there was way too much fresh water flooding in from all the rivers.. didn’t make the best conditions
I still have to constantly remind myself to just embrace the suck and drive on
Thank you for NOT saying where this is specifically since I go there too 🤣
I learned earlier when i first started putting out salmon and steelhead videos that i basically just killed my own fishing spots and had to go find new places.. Most local anglers will know where i am, and most experienced anglers will know that the only thing that is consistent in jetty fishing is inconsistency lol. I usually just go where the conditions are going to be best, not always where i think may be best fishing... Good luck out there! when i saw the conditions for this day i had to run out the door lol
Can I pleeeeeeeease go fishing with you? I'm in Salem and will drive anywhere.
I've been getting asked a lot about meeting up.. i may have to get some kind of get together in order... the covid things kind of put a damper on a lot of things
@@AnglingAddictsPNW Hey I appreciate the reply! Yes, Covid is making things tough right now. I would just like to connect with others that might enjoy a day fishing, I think that would be a lot of fun. I like when you include your car camping in to your videos also. I have a ford van I am working on the camper conversion, I would love to take it to the coast for a few days fishing. Love the videos, thank-you for sharing:)
Angling Addicts PNW I’m in Eugene and fish a lot out in that area. I’d totally be down for a fishing “comp” of sorts if you’d ever be willing to put something like that together. I think Oregon Life had one out in seal rock a couple years ago.
doode them are chunks!!!
i was stoked to find some hogs, but........... just wait, i've got a video coming out in a few weeks that will blow your mind!
@@AnglingAddictsPNW now we talkin!!
What jetty in Oregon are you at???
Hey man Id like to get together and do some fishing if you are interested, Im in Waldport area and have a small boat for crabbing and salmon fishing in the bay here
i am always up for an opportunity to get out on the water! Waldport is a bit further away but i have been wanting to expand further south so i'm sure we can make something happen!

Excellent video. B minus. Would’ve been an A+ if you weren’t drunk.
I mean it would’ve gone back up to an A if you just would’ve said that you’re drunk while making the video.
But you sound like a drunk guy trying not to sound drunk.
Interesting….. I don’t drink alcohol
