Lena is indeed a great character. The arc where the nephews are banished to a void of infinite nothingness for three months and she becomes the main character is one of my favorites in the show.
Fr fr and that episode where an alternate Glomgold helps the triplets get used to the realm and ultimately sacrifices himself for them, shouting “BLESS YOU WEE DUCKS!!” Was beautiful
@@P3RS0ULwhile it was ambitious, I wasn’t a big fan of the decision to have the triplets adopt a Scottish accent for the rest of the show in his honor.
@@rachelespiritu4215 Amen to that
3:29 Maybe not, but dolphins do commit much, much worse crimes. Also, Lena is definitely one of the show's best characters. Fun Fact: she's voiced by Kimiko Glenn, who also voiced Niffty in Hazbin Hotel, AND Baby Shark. Quite a versatile range.
Dolphin's are freaking terrifying.
A major reason why Kimiko is one of my favorite VAs.
Lena is my favorite by far.
And Peni Parker in the spider-verse movies!
And she looks like what Mosco probably would in the duckverse.
I love when it was revealed that Lena was actually the triplets mother, stuck in a teenagers body with no memories of her old life. And then getting manipulated by this evil sorceress claiming to be her aunt when all she wanted was family. Mwah! Perfect storytelling :)
That's probably weirder than the actual thing. XD
@@ryaneaston3487 dont worry that was a lie
@@caelebmaynard6476 I know. I've watched the show.
Lena casting bottles into the sea is a clue, she's a shipwrecked pirate ghost from the 18th century, her father was the pirate ghost in Scrooge's garage
It's so sad when she finishes her unfinished business and has to go.
Lena is every 2000 goth girl’s dream
Becoming one with the shadow realm
And Lena didn't have to lose a card game against Yami to wind up in the Shadow Realm.
3:25
So like, dolphins may not tear you limb from limb, but they’re like, worse then sharks.
Last I checked, sharks only got a bad rep because of Jaws.
@@ryaneaston3487 The Jaws franchise didn't help, but people took a few isolated attacks on humans and blew them out of proportion way before Jaws. But yes, a Shark is much safer than a Pod of Dolphins. Kinda like the difference between a biker dude and a gang of hoodlum delinquents.
I have seen videos of small sharks that get to know the regular divers and come for cuddles.
Depends what sharks and what dolphins. Some sharks are very dangerous, most are harmless to humans.
It's like saying birds are incredibly dangerous because you only take the royal eagle and the ostrich into account, for example.
@@leovk5779 seagulls have killed a man, dogs, etc...magpies have caused deaths, etc...ducks are sociopaths and we should be glad they are as small as they are.
Moscow & Lena: Striped Shirts And Short Hair Swooped To The Left Side.
Now we need Elijah to cosplay Webby.
@@Travis_D_Travesty 🤯🤯
Lena also gives me the Gay/Bi vibes (I personally don’t ship Webby and Lena bc age gap and other stuff I don’t have time to go into but I don’t have any hate for people who do ship them bc ships are for fans, people should be able to have fun with their imagination as long as it’s not hurting anyone)
Any old-school fan would instantly recognize the name Magica, Scrooge's former Companion, the Dark-Winged Duck. Some call her the terror that flaps in the night. Others call her the scourge that pecks at your nightmares. She is the cholesterol that clogs your arteries!
3:29 you’d be surprised, Dolphins are menaces
The evil things
Just not in the "tearing-you-limb-from-limb" way.
I mean.. it wouldn't really suprise me , they do rip apart their prey @@TheKrislaf
@@jellyowl2644 That's not what they're famous for though, is it?
@TheKrislaf why would that change the fact that they are menaces in the tear things apart kind of way?
Lena's uncle is a powerful warlock who's sworn revenge on Scrooge, and is voiced by Martin Freeman!
LENA! THE BEST CHARACTER!
shes the best girl, i really love her
The ultimate bad girl!
And that's no fake spoilers
Next episode we get to meet Mark Beaks. Probably the biggest threat to Scrooge. Why that project he's working on is guaranteed to put McDuck Enterprises out of business.
Wow way to spoil it
Mark Beaks is the worst, because he's real. And he couldn't have existed in the 80s.
Ikr?? Still can’t believe that he planned to trap Scrooge in his Number One Dime.
@@GLArts_64WDYM!!!! That’s not true!
His evil master plan was to marry Scrooge, divorce him, take the triplets and the money, and then make Scrooge pay child support for the triplets!
It's everything you think it is and nothing you're expecting.
Lena is actually secretly Della. When she was a teenager, Della accidentally fell through a time portal and spent some time in the future, using the name "Lena" as a disguise. Magica is Scrooge's sister and therefore Della's aunt (she's the black sheep of the McDuck family, that's why he doesn't speak about her in the present), and is Della/Lena's way of getting back to her own time.
Don't forget that she was wished into this younger form by Emperor Pilaf. He made it happen when all the Dragon Balls were brought together!
@@ropecrewman36 Dude, spoilers!
For the record, Lena was a character specifically made for this show so that Webby could have a friend outside of the main cast.
Aunt Magica, on the other hand…I’ll just say that, if you know the Disney Duckverse lore (whether your read the old Scrooge McDuck and Donald Duck comics and/or watched the original DuckTales), then you’ll have an idea of how wild a ride this is gonna get now that we know she’s around.
I don't necessarily know if you would. *This* version of Magica, well... she's had a bit of a threat upgrade, hasn't she?
9:45 "She talks fancy, I trust her."
-All of us when we hear Mosco's accent.
The reason you love Leena so much is because she plays Niffty in hazbin Hotel
Edit: god, I know them being the same actor doesn't have to do with liking a character shut up already
Doesn't va of Peni parker from spiderverse voice niffty?
@arc-77fordo13 oh yeah she did peni Parker as well
Nice catch trooper
@@arc-77fordo13yup
I think she also does Horse from Centaurworld
That doesn't make sense. Lena alone is a great character to love
This episode introduces the big threat that will keep coming back over and over: The Deja Vus!
I was just about to post that!
Leena is one of my favourite characters in the show, love he friendship with Webby, such a complex storyline
I love Lena, as far as I know she isn't from the old show or from the comicz (tho I can think of one obscure character that would be her analog from the old comics)
but whether she is original or not, this version of her is amazing
WARNING: MAJOR SPOILERS FOR LENA ARE IN THIS COMMENT! So from what I can tell, Lena is a combo of two sources, one being a comic book-only character and the other a one-off mini-villain from a season 1 episode of the 1987 OG "Ducktales" (Episode 11, "Magica's Shadow War"). Seeing how Lena refers to Magica as her Aunt, the showrunners clearly used Minima DeSpell (Magica's biological niece from the comics) as the basis, but then altered the backstory to use certain elements from the 1987 show episode. The specific plot elements they use is that (much like the one-off rouge shadow in the 1987 episode) Lena is one of Magica's creations, and initially helps her to get revenge on Scrooge but then ends up betraying Magica. The difference with Lena is that the 1987 show's rouge shadow doesn't end up helping Scrooge and his family fight against Magica, instead opting to take command of Magica's Shadow Army. This forces Magica to reluctantly work with Scrooge to stop the onslaught of evil shadows. I think it's neat how they're using canon comic elements and infusing them with other things taken from the 1987 show. At least, in my opinion.
@@Mechasonicrocks That's really interesting, but you should label it as spoilers so Moscow doesn't read it yet. Don't want her spoiled so soon after Lena was introduced!
@@KlaireLovesBugFables Yeah, that was my bad...I edited the comment so that Moscow knows about the spoilers, just as a precaution.
A fun part of this episode was it was an homage to the movie "The Warriors". A lot of the imagery and visuals like "talking through the radio, and bottles clinking together on a guy's fingers to intimidate were all from that movie.
It's a pretty fun movie where all the gangs of a big city meet up (all with very different colorful aesthetics) to meet a big guy uniting them, but he's killed and the gang members called "The Warriors" are framed for it. So all the colorful gangs are our to kill them, as they run through their territories, trying to get back to their own territory/safety.
In previous incarnations, Magica De Spell has been a major recurring villain for Scrooge, generally with her being a sorcerer who is after his Nr. 1 Dime, the one introduced in the previous episode. So the reveal that she is Lena's aunt was a big deal when the show first came out.
Woah, nice fake review!
@@P3RS0ULare you joking (I genuinely can't tell) as that is not a fake comment, if you are joking then ok

And now we meet my favorite character in the show (so far).
Yes! Always love seeing Bouncer Beagle fans!
4:14 in certain places ‘chick’ is a blanket term for any baby bird since Lena is a minor ‘chick’ would technically apply to her😊
Lena is Kimiko Glen, Horse from _Centaurworld_ (which you NEED to watch) and currently Kiff from, er, _Kiff_ .
The episode itself is an homage to the 70s film _The Warriors,_ which was all about a couple trying to escape from a gathering of quirky street gangs.
Magica is an old character while Lena as far as I remember is knew for this show
Technically she was in the 87 series, but wasn't named.
Lena is easily my favourite character, so excited that you've finally met her!
FUN FACT: Ancient Sumerian necklaces are mentioned in the old comic books.
This episode made references and callouts to the movie "The Warriors", what with the Beagle gangs with different gimmicks and the one with bottles on his fingers.
With the appearance of "Aunt Magica", we've now been introduced to all of the "Big 3" villains of the original comics and cartoon, who represented three different threats to Scrooge's fortune: Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys were criminals who wanted to steal his money, Flintheart Glomgold was his main business rival after his tile of "Richest Duck in the World", and Magica deSpell used magic and supernatural powers to try to steal the #1 Dime. There were other villains too, but these three were the major ones. The reboot also adds a few new villains, and includes some from adjacent series.
Fun Fact: In the original DuckTales, Ma Beagle had seven sons, named Burger, Bouncer, Babyface, Bigtime, Baggy, Bankjob, and Bugle. Burger, Bigtime, Bouncer, and Baggy were the main ones, while Babyface, Bankjob, and Bugle each only appeared in 7 or fewer episodes. Baggy is the only one of the seven who didn't return in the 2017 reboot. The 1989 5-episode serial "Super DuckTales" introduced an 8th Beagle Boy, Megabyte, who appeared in two episodes in the serial and never again.
Mosco: Qualifies her statement about Lena and Webby being girlfriends.
Fandom: ... well actually...
3:30 Yeah, they do. Dolphins are assholes. Tormenting pufferfish so they can get high off the venom is probably the least terrible thing they do for fun. And trust me, NEVER LOOK UP what they do to sharks. It's... It's not... Just... Nothing deserves that...
Fun fact: Ma Beagle is voiced by Margo Martindale, who has won multiple Emmies for her television roles and been nominated for a Tony and won several other awards for her stage acting. She has also played herself in Bojack Horseman, and has had several voice roles in other cartoons. All other Beagles throughout the series are voiced by Eric Bauza who is the current voice of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and many of the other Looney toons.
Also Grandma Sandy in Instant Family
You almost revealed Daffy to be Webby and the boys' father.
I didn't realize Leena got introduced this early! Yesss she's one of my favorites!
Before I completely forget...again. ahem.
(Chanting)
Jor-mun-gan-dr!
(Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap)
Jor-mun-gan-dr.
I love all the perks of their personality’s it really makes them so endearing.
Lena has a lightning bot shaped scar hidden by her hair swoop. She's basically Harry Potter being raised by Snape or Malfoy with Minnie Mouse as Voldemort.
Lena's official alignment is Chaotic Sassy.
Just remembered Webby VA is Kate Micucci, who's also Sadie in "Steven Universe". Think half of the voice cast can sing! 😉
2:13 If I remember correctly in the original show the triplets barely had variations in personality or looks. Scrooge calling Dewey ‘the blue one’ was hilarious in hindsight because I felt like their original character traits were basically being triplets. They had abit more personality in another series featuring them called ‘Quack Pack’, so the creators of this show built off of that along with giving them different voice actors and outfits. Which I think is a nice change.
If my memory serves this reboot takes a lot of references from Ducktales, Quack Pack, the comics, video games, and other Disney/duck universes and packs them together in a way that’s very cool.
Yep, lots of references from the Duck comics and shows and, what I love most, from other shows from the Disney Afternoon around the late 80s/early 90s. Coming from someone who is aware of this time and these shows, but NEVER saw any of them, it was nice to see these references sprinkled in a way that makes this show create its own world.
Mostly true. Original show, the majority of the characters had extremely 2Dimensional personalities, the boys were basically interchangeable with no variations, Webby was literally “just a girl”
Best thing about Lena is when it's revealed that she's actually a triplet sister to Webby.
WAAAAY too early to spoil that! Mosco won’t get there until probably May or June…
Man, my mind is still totally blown by the revelation that Lena is the triplets' younger sister from the future!
"Aunt Magica" is actually just Launch pad trolling on the poor little girl ❤
Lena is one of a handful of brand new female characters created for DuckTales 2017, whereas Magica DeSpell is an old Carl Barks classic.
I could try to leave some (fake) spoilers, but instead I'll just say that those original characters are all fantastic, and I'm looking forward to seeing you get introduced to the rest.
3:39 orcas don’t attack humans in the wild. They eff up boats sometimes.
Fun fact: all the Beagle Boys are voiced by Eric Bauza!
Each generation of the Mcduck family has a trio of siblings. Magica is the sister of Donald and Della. Lena is the daughter of Magica's sister-in-law Raven and her brother-in-law Tai. Raven's brother Qrow married Magica. Lena's full name is Lena Yang Ruby Summer Mcwhisker.
Lena's middle name is Meiwhen. Her mother's last name is actually Yurnot. Her father's last name is Strong. In an episode set in the future, she'll marry Alfred Benjamin Yurfrend.
The wedding invite reads "Lena Meiwhen Yurnot-Strong and Al B. Yurfrend."
“I’LL HELP YOU CARRRY OOONNNN!”
the ducktales-rwby crossover i never knew i needed
I love how this episode is partially an homage to _The Warriors_ with the pair traversing different themed gangs' territories as a voice on the radio calls the plays.
(This is the same reference as the most recent John Wick film, which actually lifts some of the dialogue of the original movie.)
Remember Pete? (the big cat (dog?) character from Goof Troop, plus classic Disney animated shorts) Turns out that Donald Duck does a pitch perfect impression of him.
And mickey he concerned the finally with that one
After the first viewing, Lena immediately became my favorite character
Also love WebLena❤
3:40 Unless I’m mistaken, technically orcas ARE dolphins! Despite the common name of killer whales, they are not in fact whales.
They're part of the dolphin family, yes, the name killer whale was probably a misunderstanding derived from killer OF whales, since they really really like to hunt down whales and eat them, especially their tongues.
Can't wait 'til you figure out it's not Della who time-travelled to meet her children and got stuck as her child self, but MAGICA who went to train her niece to be her successor! After all these years, I still can't believe Scrooge crushed her under all the money in his bin.
HE COULD HAVE BEEN TURBO!!!!
It still blows my mind that Lena's aunt Magica is actually the boys' mother, Della Duck, with Lena herself being Donald's long lost daughter.
Magika is actually one of Scrooge's biggest rivals from the original series
I love that you’re watching Ducktales. It was one of my favorite series. Dewey is one of my favorites but Louie is slowly starting to creep up on him. I get really excited when you post another reaction vid to Ducktales!
11:50 Lena is Scrooge's daughter. He sold her for a dime, 'his number one dime'. She wants revenge for being replaced with Webby and the boys.
The voice of Lena is also voiced Nifty from Hazbin Hotel
Scrooge and Magica were travelling companions for a time, until one fateful adventure messed up her mind.
This fake spoiler has layers. I love it.
Kiiiinda on the nose there lol
I'm disappointed in myself about how long that took for me to get it.
Oh, yeah, Leena. Wasn't she the daughter of the god of light? I think she wants to break the shadow lord out of her prison to get revenge on her abusive family.
Yeah, Heracles. That's why Leena needed to get her aunt's spear back after Scrooge, Donna, and Della took it
I think my fav part is in the S3 Finale when Lena is revealed to be in charge of all time and has kept the triplets and Webby in a time loop for thousands of years
LETS GO IS MY FAVORITE EPISODE OF THE FIRST SEASON!!! best day EVER!
It's great to see your reaction to the introduction of Webby's dark magical girl rival.
Always appreciate a whole-plot reference to The Warriors, a terrible movie from the '70s (that everyone should watch) that is itself inspired by the Battle of Marathon. It's about a hardened crew of street criminals (they're from Coney Island) who are stuck on the other side of the city when literally every other gang in said city is trying to kill them because of shenanigans and they're trying to get back to territory they control.
Lena is the best charter better then the salami and the bologna combined. She punches a unicorn in the face, turns in to a dragon, becomes a super powered Ninja hero, juggles two girl friends at once, turns them and her self in to adults, robs a bank and drives a car off a cliff, tames sharks and jumps them over other sharks, clones her best friend, does a PSA about drugs with an ambiguous answer , dresses up as daft punk , gets every one trapped in a Minecraft world,, she is a robot girl with feelings , a victim of the fountain of youth, and a rival Tresure hunter who serves Andrea Libman 's evil talking pony charter who is defiantly not her other talking pony charter and she can talk to fish.
Oh she saw how family can be so she's trying to reconnect with her family, but that might go bad....this has to be the most wholesome reaction I have ever seen to someone summoning a shadowy demonic figure LoL
when i saw this episode i was very hyped with that ending, as a watcher of the original show, i was hyped to know that the main antagonist of the original show was coming back.
I love the twist where Lena turns out to be the Princess of the Shadow dimension. It was badass as hell!!!
In DnD I think all Warlocks have a patron than requires them to do things in exchange for power.
So you know the two main villains from season 1 and 2 and believe me you will love them.
Lena's arc of becoming a princess was so amazing, can't wait for the episode where she learns how to time travel
The whole episode is a reference to an old move called the Warriors. New York street gang that has to travel a gauntlet to get their home turf, all the while taking on other gangs that want to kill them. That one scene where the beagle has the three bottles is ICONIC for the Warriors.
"Warriors come out and pla-ay"
12:54 Don’t worry, Louie is the animator’s favorite too!
Yeah Magica was in the old show, Lena is an original character mostly.
To readers of the comics, the phrase "Aunt Magica" immediately rings _big_ alarm bells. Magica De Spell is another one of Carl Barks' famous character creations, who have become iconic.
19:25 Glad? It's the whole Wendy/Dipper thing all over again. Webby is Dipper this time. With the boys it's Jane from Funso for Louie.
On the topic of the triplets' personalities, I especially like how they established their interests and priorities in the first episode (an important step, since they'd been nearly identical since the 80s): Huey valued Scrooge's knack for discovering mysteries and gathering lost knowledge, Dewey admired Scrooge's "mythical hero" status, and Louie admired Scrooge's immense wealth.
Oh so we have finally seen the boys mom. Even if it's only her cursed shadow form
Oh Aunt Magica was once Uncle Scrooge's companion and was very much bothered 😆
Lena is such a good character! I can't wait for you to get to the episode where you find out Lena is secretly a robotic suit that Gyro made for Chipmunks to drive so they wont get crushed.
Ah, Lena, my favorite character that was added in for this reboot.
Even ignoring the fact that she shares a VA with Nifty from Hazvbin Hotel (& Cyan from the upcoming Among Us series), she has such a fun character and story line.
I knew you would love her! Idk if she'll be you favorite like me but i know you'll top her
This episode is one big homage to the cult movie The Warriors, something you'd never expect from a kids' show like this and I love imagining the younger fans later discovering the movie and recognizing so much stuff in it.
Magica's original actress June Foray passed away shortly before this episode aired at age 99, so seeing her appear with no lines was quite unintentionally emotional.
LENA YES SHES MY FAVORITE CHARACTER
Lena is Phooey Duck (the yellow shoes gives it away). Donald and Scrooge wouldn't expect their fourth nephew was now their niece. Lucky for Phooey/Lena, her fairy godmother, Magica was more excepting.
Its amazing how much they improved every single character from the old show.
Lena is such an amazing character 🤌
"...I'm also glad they didn't do the whole instant like Huey Dewey or Louie just like falling in love at first sight type thing..."
Yeah, well, that would have been super hard to walk back when they find out AUNT Magica is UNCLE Scrooge's Sister. So it was for the best.
I can’t describe how happy I am that your reacting to duck tales 😁 vicariously living thru u to rewatch it for the first time again 🥰
btw, "The classics" that ma beagle talks about when going though her kids, the ones with green caps, and are never seen again in this epp, was a shout out to the design used in the 80s show.
Lena is easily my favorite character in this show. Also definitely ship her and Webby
Fun lore fact. Magica is the evil twin of Castaspella. Eventually this builds up to the She-Ra crossover episodes in Season Three.
The music in this episode is brilliant.
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT!!!! NEW WEE LASS REACT POST DROPPED NOWW 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
Lena's name means "light". Which is appropriate, because her true identity is a "snoring angel" sent by the Goddess Apollonia to punish Scrooge for stealing the ancestral land of an African tribe.
All joking aside, Lena is the entire reason why I started watching the show in the first place.
Just wait for Lena to be revealed to be the Sorceress Supreme.
6:50 It's established in a later episode that magic cloning is a known thing in this universe. That's how I prefer to think it went down.
The ratio of jackasses to non-jackasses is worse in dolphins than it is in sharks, FYI. Also, yay, Lena!
YESSSS IVE BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR DUCKTALES REACTION ALL WEEK! Also this episode in particular ❤
I love how the boys actually act like siblings: Constantly weaving between plotting, bickering, mocking and having each others back on a dime.
It's a shame when we find out in a later episode that Huey and Louie were both figments of Dewey's imagination brought on by the trauma of his lost mother, and the rest of the cast played along just because they didn't have the heart to tell him.
Hey everyone! Remember to keep the comments free of any spoilers of future episodes for Mosco. Have fun & be creative with fake spoilers! Also, make sure we’re keeping the comments cool & comfortable for everyone here. Enjoy the reaction y’all!!!
Remember the budget allocated for magic defense from the last episode? Magica De Spell.
