@anemone_aki Exactly, Sam was the writer for Max Payne 1 and 2, but he was always voiced by James. Sam modeled for Max Payne in the first game and his mother modeled Nicole Horne. James McCaffrey is such a great loss😢I know Remedy will keep producing great games but even with all of the great talent in Remedy, James was the heart of the Remedy games.

One of the greatest games of all time. Sam Lake is such a great story teller. Every aspect of this game, from enemies convos, the little shows and radio plays that play in the backgrounds, all a reflection of Max's psyche and of the first 2 games, one of the best.

i think the next game that really needs a full on remake is max payne 1,then max payne 2,and MP3 should just get released on new consoles with a slight graphics improvment
@@the_tac Hello I want to start a similar game. What would like to see in my mobile game? What things you want differently that max payne developers wouldn't dare to change?
Max Payne 2 looks great in 4k. It was a really nice looking PC game for 2003. It uses "cinematic models" all throughout the game, for in-game cutscenes. The game uses the Havok Physics engine. I remeber being dissapointed by the different model of Max Payne. No more Sam Lake. But, I got use to it. Great sequel. Remasters of Max Payne 1 and 2 would be great.
This is one of those games i missed out on growing up cause it wasnt easy getting games when you werent old enough to get a job, now as a grown man at 32 years old i finally played both Max Payne games and just marvel on such storytelling! A series worthy of being called a masterpiece!

No game Outclasses the Noir aesthetic Max Payne brought to the table 16 years later. Sad, it just goes to show how unoriginal game developers are these days. Some of the most high tech hardware of all time but rarely anything unique in terms of atmosphere and environment. I’d say the closest games with got to a game with this good of story telling are Control Heavy Rain, Detroit Become Human Batman Arkham Asylum
I'd say the best stories were Metal Gear Solid 1 and 3, Metal Gear Rising, Silent Hill 1, 2 and 3, Resident Evil 2, Final Fantasy 7, Last of Us 1, and that's about it. Most games have no soul nowadays. Funny, all the games I've listed, with the exception of Metal Gear Rising and Last of Us, don't have any DLC, no multiplayer, and no micro-transactions. Back then, games were complete packages. DLC has made games rushed. It's why I intend to make my own Max Payne like game.
This was one of the few times a game had solid action/gameplay, storytelling/voice acting And atmosphere. A true gem which is ironic seeing as how commercially the game sold “poorly” but I think around 03 it was quite the haven for quality games at that time
I used to work in a convenience store in college. There was a computer in there which we used to track videotape rentals. I installed a spare video card into it and played this while the store was dead, which was almost all the time. One of the best times in my life.
Every few years I come back to this game: and every time I notice how good the gameplay is, how compelling the atmosphere is, and how the sequence of missions in the condemned building goes on *far* too long.
This game was a major part of my childhood. To this day, I've memorised every dialogue, every movement of where NPCs appear, the music, its essentially a core memory for me.

They really don’t make em’ like this anymore. A true, rare quality classic of gritty, neo-noir paradise. My two favourite games from this era are Max Payne (1&2) and FEAR.
I remember playing this game as a teenager escaping from homework. Nowadays I worry about my career and the mortgage, and this game is still out next to my TV>
my heart is broken........ i love this game so much this is my childhood and now James McCaffrey has passed away at the age of 65 because of cancer and that makes me so angry, because he was such a sweet man such a talented actor and such a handsome man, with the coolest voice ever, Max Payne 2 is my number one favorite game ever, i played it for the first time back in 2006 and since than i've beat it doezens of times, it's so hard for me to accept this ahhhhhh i wish i got to meet him and tell him how much i love him....
I had to be no more than 12 years old trying to understand this game. I never finished it because of scratch on the CD made the game freeze at a certain point. here I am finally catching back up almost 20 years later. What a life.
"Death is inevitable. Our fear of it makes us play safe, blocks out emotion. It's a losing game, without passion you are already dead." In loving memory of James McCaffrey, we'll miss you.
I love this game. From the moment I played it so many years ago. Everyone i introduced this game to got hooked. I asked them if it was bc of the tragedy of loss, loneliness, and lost love in Max, and all said yes. A broken man, that lost so much, fell in love again, just to lose it all... many could identify. When Max 3 came out and i saw the intro, how he opened somewhat hesitant the door to the new apartment and then sat on the couch alone, nervously tapping his fingers,... it hit me so hard. I was lonely in a city then, and felt i see myself... Wonder how many had a crush on Mona :p
In Max Payne 1 , Max was basically on a crusade against the biggest crime family in New York and an influential evil corporate paramilitary. He killed them all
The time when game developers give their all for a game. Amazing sounds, attention to details, great voice acting. I love the story telling and the action so much. This game is LEGENDARY. 😊
3:07:36 they were all dead The final gunshot was an exclamation mark to everything that had led to this point. I released my finger from the trigger. And then it was all over. The storm seemed to lose its frenzy. The ragged clouds gave way to the stars above.
1. The Comic story telling 2. Noir Atmosphere 3. Cartonish Graphic Is what set apart "MaX Payne 1, 2" from the other games of their generation. I was disapointed when they removed these elements in the 3rd game but it was another company that took charge of development!
I played this on PC back in 2005. I used to shiver from excitement every time I finish homework so I can play the game. I stopped having this feeling even with modern counsels and current advanced graphics. Great memories.
Yeah a lot good memories Soon will be max payne trilogy remake Max Payne 1/2 both game maybe company rockstar Games and remedy entertainment they decide it.?
i just love how i downloaded the game off xbox store and now all of a sudden i cant continue 1:48:03 because the lift wont go up . i cant even press the button . nor am i able to jump with mona. i cant believe i gotta start all over again
The Dead on Arrival ending may not be canon, but I believe it is the perfect ending for Max's story. For all that he's been through, he deserves a little happiness.

my heart is broken........ i love this game so much this is my childhood and now James McCaffrey has passed away at the age of 65 because of cancer and that makes me so angry, because he was such a sweet man such a talented actor and such a handsome man, with the coolest voice ever, Max Payne 2 is my number one favorite game ever, i played it for the first time back in 2006 and since than i've beat it doezens of times, it's so hard for me to accept this ahhhhhh i wish i got to meet him and tell him how much i love him....
Mona doesn't live unless you beat it on this difficulty. Good job
1:34:59 His impersonating 🤣 what a game for 2003 🔥
this game deserves a remake
Nah, it is good as it is.
you got your wish
Guy: Where is he!? Where did he go?!
Guy 2: He must be close!
Max: *starts shooting*
Who’s here after the remake was announced?
The time when Life was easier and this game was just too good
I had to be no more than 12 years old trying to understand this game. I never finished it because of scratch on the CD made the game freeze at a certain point. here I am finally catching back up almost 20 years later. What a life.
Bro tell me how to jump and fire please 😢😢
@@Jamshed479 I meant Im catching back up on the story, im not actually playing lol.
Total nostalgia and childhood with this game series, man. I remember being exactly 6 years old and seeing the first game release, back in '01.
Loved him closing the door on the old lady 😂
58:12 Late Goodbye piano version
"Death is inevitable. Our fear of it makes us play safe, blocks out emotion. It's a losing game, without passion you are already dead." In loving memory of James McCaffrey, we'll miss you.
I love this game. I played Max Payne 1, 2, and 3. I hope they make another one
So Max Payne is basically
" The Punisher"
In Max Payne 1 , Max was basically on a crusade against the biggest crime family in New York and an influential evil corporate paramilitary. He killed them all
OmG, this music hits deep, thunder, rain, narration...perfection.
1. The Comic story telling
2. Noir Atmosphere
3. Cartonish Graphic
Is what set apart "MaX Payne 1, 2" from the other games of their generation. I was disapointed when they removed these elements in the 3rd game but it was another company that took charge of development!
The dialogue from the cleaners when they spot u was always hilarious to me “SHOOT” “PAYNE” 😂😂
Wish this was on PS4 like the first Max Payne 😢
SAME!!!!!! Also that baby screaming blood sequence still gives me nightmares
I played this on PC back in 2005. I used to shiver from excitement every time I finish homework so I can play the game. I stopped having this feeling even with modern counsels and current advanced graphics. Great memories.
Brings back soooooo many memories 😭☺️
Yeah a lot good memories Soon will be max payne trilogy remake Max Payne 1/2 both game maybe company rockstar Games and remedy entertainment they decide it.?
Late goodbye song left me in tears when I first completed this game❤
Exactly 😢😢
Great gameplay, thanks for sharing the details too 🙌
I lied to myself that it was over. I was still alive, my loved ones were still dead. It wasn't over-Max Payne
1:15:31 that background music.. uff 🎶😌.. nostalgia hits hard
My childhood game. Rip James🙏❤️
This is so sad I can't believe this he's gone rip James!.
Fun fact - Kevin Conroy aka BATMAN also voiced a character.
James McCaffrey's voice forever in my heart. RIP.
i just love how i downloaded the game off xbox store and now all of a sudden i cant continue 1:48:03 because the lift wont go up . i cant even press the button . nor am i able to jump with mona. i cant believe i gotta start all over again
36:20 soo funny this granny such a nice booooy haha Max just passing through Mam :D
The Dead on Arrival ending may not be canon, but I believe it is the perfect ending for Max's story. For all that he's been through, he deserves a little happiness.
GTA Series Videos always made a GREAT work!💯
Max Payne is a true classic! ⭐
It's been years since I last played this game. What a period of time...
37:21 stupid and BOOM this gets me everytime lol
