    Thanks for a great video. My 2005 Mercedes petrol gas guzzler is compliant but my 1999 Honda Hornet isn’t. I am fairly learned about environmental science and it apparent that the ULEZ scheme is about making money and not about lowering environmental impact.
    I am going to try hack. Really grateful and keep up the good work 💪👌🏍️

      It's definitely a money making scheme yes.
      Your hornet probably won't have a certificate of conformity but you can put it through the test. But there is a couple more test centers now and one offers a free first run if the bike fails. This will save you £175.
      Also if you can, richen up your airbox a touch before going as this will help you pass.

    Just had my Bandit 600 done. The guys were great. Passed first time. After a chat they said to be careful around meddling with the mix (how rich it runs) as it isn’t a guarantee for passing- too rich and it won’t pull under load.
    They said they have passed loads of 600s, and the best formula is a well maintained and run engine, clean carb and premium fuel. This is what mine has and I got a result of ‘1.0’ off the bat. That said, I do have her running slightly rich, but nothing excessive.

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  2 роки тому +1

      They are OK but they are also to quick to tell everyone that their bikes will pass when they won't. They need to be a little more honest about the process. When I paid £175 for the first run and it failed they told me that they would need to richen the mixture in the carbs and it would cost £50. They charged me £75 for this and then told me that it would be another £175 for the second run which was about a hour later. Lucky I had the spare funds or I would have been screwed

      @@motorcyclerescuer maybe they have changed hands. 3 or 4 guys showed up and they were pretty straight about the process… either that or potentially learned from mistakes. They also give a second run price on the website now, so think it may be the latter- just being altogether more transparent.

    O YEAH ! Good old emissions, not to familiar when it comes to motorcycles emissions. I did work with a car auction back in the day & my job was to run cars threw emissions centers. Had my share of failures, not on my $$ though lol. They finally had a mobile emissions come to the lots & work with adjustments until they passed. Got pricey for them dealerships too. Thanks for a look Charlie... into the way things work there with motorcycle emissions 💯🏍👍

    Nitrogen Oxides are a family of poisonous, highly reactive gases. ... These gases form when fuel is burned at high temperatures.
    If you remove the high air mixture and run it rich, the fuel is unburnt thus reducing the emission of the engine.
    Hopefully others will understand that & Charlie is correct.
    It would be interesting if Gary tried for the letter of conformity ,just to see if the nox rating was lower.
    Great insight into the process 👍

    Personal plates can be a prob as ULEZ ( it seems ) does not recognise them and just issues the charge , even if the car its self is exempt on the V5.

    • @motorcyclerescuer

      Get this for a update .the DVLA updated her personal plate to state her car is exempt .She put the reg in the ULEZ reg system and it now comes up compliant .She called ULEZ to tell them to cancel the fine .They told her she still has to pay it because the camera logged it before as non compliant. She told them to take her to court as she won't pay it .I mean its the same reg and same car and their system says its compliant , but they insist she must still pay the fine .
      The worlds gone mad.

      @@motorcyclerescuer its basically the DVLA s fault that when she put her old car personal plate on her newer car ,the DVLA had not updated her record quick enough. So when she drove in the ULEZ zone her DVLA record was not up to date .If anything its the DVLA to blame by not bringing the record up to date .
      I bet she has no chance of getting them to pay the fine .She is stuck in the middle between DVLA and ULEZ .

    Any thoughts on would having the choke on slightly get it through the test ?

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  2 роки тому +2

      I think they will make sure it's off.
      If you wrap some extra filter around your original and even put some tape on it your more likely to get it past.
      But do check with the manufacturer first as they may have a certificate of conformity and the nox may be below 0.15. Then you buy the certificate for around £120 and its all sorted

    • @keebone
      @keebone 2 роки тому +1

      @@motorcyclerescuer I thought about maybe tightening the choke cable so although it appears off at the handle it is actually slightly on.
      I'll check if there's any way to get a letter of conformity, I've got a Honda Bros which wasn't sold in UK so that might complicate matters.

    • @motorcyclerescuer
      @motorcyclerescuer  2 роки тому +1

      What year is it Andy. Honda did the certificate from roughly 2000 onwards, definitely from 2002.
      The bros will be older I'm thinking? If it is then you will have to use riverbank.
      But again, if you double up that filter it should squeeze through.
      I see what you mean about the choke but I feel like restricting the airflow a little at the filter is better as the bike still needs to do a dyno run and run at all revs.
