This was pretty great. Worth sticking around for that ending and honestly these games showcased how some underrated factions can shine with a little bit of inventive gameplay. Can't wait for the next one!
I'm really impressed with how good you are at casting this game considering how recently it was released. Looking forward to a lot more AoE 4 content in the future; it'll be a great way to pass the time until Warhammer 3.

Delhi had a lot of good picks but the economy difference was astronomical.
This format's currently great because we're still figuring out the factions, so when specialist players come in with unseen strats it's doubly exciting for me. Not only do we get a game between good players but we're seeing cutting edge experimentation that's not the familiar meta plays we get in regular formats.

Just getting into all of this. I loveee watching AOE4 so far. I must say this format is much more fun watching, more of a ”storyline”.
I've been playing this game so hard since launch. Still just challenging the AI, since I'm an RTS noob, and going all with Delhi, but gradually, I'm more reliably winning against Hard, and will make the switch to Hardest AI, and then finally, the dreaded ladder.
But all of this is because you decided to feature it on your channel. Otherwise I'm certain I'd have let this game slip by.

I did the same thing as you! I practiced only with Delhi (using Szalami - the player casted in this video - as heavy inspiration) and learned to beat hard, then hardest AI. Finally I made the switch to ladder to see how I would do, and just to warn you - i was able to EASILY win the first 6-7 games I played. Many people on the ladder are indeed worse than even the hard AI. If you can go toe-to-toe with Hardest AI, then you are already well above several tiers of skill in the multiplayer quickmatch so far.

And alright, that's good to hear, so thanks for the tip! I can beat the hardest AI on most maps with decent reliability, but have still been afraid of getting my feet wet. But I think getting a few wins will help quell my apprehension and let me properly develop some more skills.
Yes Turin remembers those RTS games, I was telling my wife about how the worm sign thing still triggers me. Gotta look around and save my crawlers from those bastards.

I love seeing the same matchup played in multiple games to get a stronger sense of the full range of possibilities.
I'm amazed at how Szalamii1 picked a faction where all the starting infantry can build walls, and didn't set up any around his base. Just Sacred Sites.
What do I press on my keyboard in order to create a mass rally point for all of my military producing buildings without having to select each manually?
@@rahilanees2343 F1 or put them in a control group
@@rahilanees2343 I use F1 to select all, but then put them to control group, because on F1 the game auto focuses on the buildings.
other hotkeys: F2 all resource buildings, F3 military upgrades, F4 all TC-s.
It’s so enjoyable to watch these factions being played by top tier players. Truly amazing tactics

may i suggest an empty anti spoiler 30 minutes addition to the end of the video? it's used often for many tournaments, to make it unclear if there's a third match by the length of the video.
while i was moving the video forward for the 2nd round of the final match, the video's length made it clear who was winning second of the three in the final.

I didn't play the RTS games, but I did briefly play the collectible card game that was out for maybe five seconds circa 1998. It was... not great.
It's super interesting to see a rush to t3 with English and how impactful some generic Knights can be vrs archers. Even without upgrades, they seem pretty effective. Good counterplay from his opponent though!
Love the commentary often just listen whilst doing other things and still know exactly how the match is going. Do I know this voice from starcraft or dota?

That first Delhi game was painful. All those free upgrades just ignored.
The yam network is pretty cool. I prefer the sweet potato network though. :)
Brings me back to the good old days, wish they didn't overprice this game at 80$ though. Can't in good conscious spend so much on what, in these days, is a fairly simple game. Even AoE2 had 13 races at launch, this one just has 8....for 80$.
Mono Faction Format is great!
I definitely prefer people playing as "main's". It's much easier as a viewer to be a fan of a "Faction/Race", than it is be fans of a "player". So as an observer, you care way more about how, say, the Mongols are doing, compared to how "John Doe" is doing. Later, you might become a fan of "John Doe". But only if you come to recognize him as a good Mongol player (or whatever Race it is)

Anyone getting rammed by Kurultai? Little tip here from a mongol player. For the Kurultai to give the buff aura, the Khan needs to be in range of the aura itself. So if you notice your mongol opponent is not microing his Khan, just snipe him with focus fire and the Kurultai becomes useless. Hope it helps someone out there and for my fellow mongols, I'm really sorry lol

Yeah 200 gold per minute for delhi and 100 gold per minute for everyone else.
honestly Szalami was the goat imo
Honestly i just think the mongol player was at a significantly higher level, you can see it clearly in the idle times for vills and just the apm.
the english vills were constantly idling sometimes for minutes before the English player noticed and re assigned them. The mongol player's units always had commands and were never idle.
there were also many times when he chased the mongols army with his vills which was putting him behind eco wise massively.
Plus going full eco on a map that's bad for walling against a player you KNOW will rush you is pretty brain dead by the English player in the second game.
Overall the English player only knew how to play one way, rush to imp and zerg the opponent, any barrier to that and they died pretty easy.

Please read: I've been coming up against the feudal age battering ram rush -- where I should be able to easily defend by garrisoning units in TC and mowing down the squishy enemy units with my TC attack. Instead TC just fires brainlessly at the battering rams, no matter how many times i right click the enemy archers/horsemen... Wtf!!
TC always aim for closest target. Its target cannot be changed until the initial target is dead if I am not mistaken
This is something I have noticed quite a lot in the games I have watched & as a common complaint, which is TC & Keeps having no ability to toggle targets so they fire into whatever is closest, usually being what you don’t want shot...
This should hopefully be changed in the future.

@BftBG777 i play Delhi Sultanate and it seems i have nothing to counter the feudal age ram rush. English longbows for example murder everything i have until castle age. But if i fast castle then the ram rush would just end me before i get there. What kinda decision was that- Relic made- that buildings cannot manually fire; or did they just forget to include it in their final game 😡
@@tomblack2064 if your micro can hold it's often worth it to rush the ram with villagers.
Mongols are the biggest trolls in the game.
I actually hate France as a faction, their economy is almost impossible to keep up with since they get so many workers so fast, the hulks give them naval dominance early shutting down your fishing, the knights are way too powerful for how early you get them and on top of that can self heal, they have no real weakness.
The only ways I've seen them beat is from crazy all out rushes or the player just being bad at the game, they need a nerf badly.
France has problems against Mongol, HRE, Rus & Abbassid, they're strong and some of their stuff may be overtuned but not to the point of unbeatable.

Rus can smash the French on water maps. Just play keepaway with your fishing boats and try to hide in map corners. As they don't need to return to drop off food you can completely forgo villager food farm

I am normally not necessarily for nerfs, since I think that in an ideal world, the other factions just need buffs, so the differences get more accentuated (instead of everything get nerfed to be pretty much the same). That beeing said, France is just stupidly OP from what I have seen, they just get EVERYTHING. This needs to be nerfed or France just should be banned from Tournaments imo.
A Personal side note: If I were Nyan, I personally would split my prize with IAmMagic. I don't know, this would just feel right. Honour is worth more than money imho. GG WP - Nice tourney!

i like the mono faction format, because everyone who can chose chooses french or english and ... well they aren't that interesting

While that english player had competent eco, his army composition and micro were depressingly appalling. In fact it was so stupid, I couldn't stand watching, my forehead was hurting from facepalming.
Simtom played so bad he stood no chance in finals vs IamMagic. Even Nyan was able to beat him. Just shows how weak Delhi civ is currently. Nyan vs Magic felt like a game between pros while Delhi vs english felt like english just screwing around, giggling and running circles around delhi savoring those salty delhi tears knowing theres nothing they can do.

You know..... its really sad to see only AOE Videos now. I like more strategic games where you can not reproduce lost units. That´s why i like TWW 1+2 so much. I know i won´t like TWW 3 so much as 1+2 because of the unit respawn functions and such things but will still love TWW 3. Hopefully we will see TWW streams/videos again before Part 3 releases. In the meanwhile i will watch other Warhammer streamers content. Hope to see you again in the future.
