- In this video we are visualizing the world population from 1950 to 2022 on a map using markers for every one million inhabitants.
In 2022 the global population passes 7,9 billion. Asia is home to the majority of the world's inhabitants with China and India topping the list. The United States, Indonesia, Pakistan, Brazil, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Russia, Mexico, Japan and Ethiopia follows. North America is marked in blue, South America in green, Europe in pink, Africa in yellow, Asia in red, the Middle East in purple and Oceania in orange.

Great video as always. I would have liked to see North and South America split into two continents to get a fair comparison with the rest.
600M north, 400M south, 7,5% and 5,5% of world population, 13% together.
It would be great to see a comparison of population density. Ie population vs land mass.
Great overall summary but seems highly generalized and glosses over massive challenges with population like population flow due to refugees and the general and localized effects of population sinks like in China, Japan, Russia, and much of Europe, which have seen dramatic drops in birth rates that all imply population declines following the demise of the boomer generations and consequences of declining marital rates in advanced economies. There's much more to discuss here and any clarity coming from analysis of the actual data would be helpful.

Actually, R Buckminster Fuller thought that large communities would exist on the ocean, eventually. This was especially true for certain coastal areas. Fuller designed tetrahedon shaped floating cities with the US west coast in mind, I believe.

One criticism, is the map format. Maintaining relative areas is more important than fitting the map into rectangle, and this would be inherently more informative in a Mollweide projection.

Can you tell me from where you've compiled the data.
Since UN and World bank data lags 3 year and their projections have accuracy like some form of ape made the projection.
Bruh! I have watched your old video right now and decided to watch an updated one now. You included Turkey and Caucasus in Asia then and in Middle east now, Turkey may be middle east cause it's large but Caucasus no way man! It belongs to Europe now. You managed to mess it up twice, smh...
The UN counts the Caucasus nations as Asian and that the source I used for this video. The problem with terms like the Middle East, Western Asia and Europe is that they overlap. However I would have done it, some people would be upset :)

I disagree with the lack of food for the worlds populations. Simple fact of the matter is, land is not properly being used for farming. You can have massive farming fields on the continent of Africa. With very fertile soil. Investment in Africa for this simple reason should be priority one for the world powers that be. Take it over, and put an end to poverty in Africa and feed the world!
can u use a true size map instead of the Mercator map? b/c that would show the true density.
