Vehicle Surplus Auction - State of New Jersey
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 лип 2021
- There was an interesting mix of surplus vehicles at this New Jersey auction. Those that cosmetically were nice were mechanically a mess and many were salvage vehicles involved in a collision. Despite the volume of cars available, very few seemed worth the effort.

10,000 for that last suburban! Unbelievable
I'll second that 10,000 times.
Think Eastern Europe export for the VIN?
That’s a 4000 dollar truck on its best day!
People have a lot of free money - good for them
I cant believe what that last suburban got.
Seems the decommissioning is a bit rushed in these lots.
Love the videos, especially the "stamping" of the sold numbers after each walk-around!
Glad you liked it and thanks for checking out the latest auction video too!
As always it's a pleasure watching your posts thanks friend 👍👍
Thanks for the visit
I have worked auctions on the gulf coast for over thirty years and seen a lot of shenanigans in my time. Show up early with a grease pencil and write scary stuff on the windshield's of vehicles you want to buy, caught a dealer in Baton Rouge pulling a/c fuses and pouring transmission fluid into intakes to make the vehicles he wanted to buy less appealing to others.
Slimy people.
One of the crazy things I saw, My brother bought a really clean police Explorer from a State agency site unseen. It was listed as having a misfire and check engine light. He picked it up, and had to tow it thinking the engine was bad. I diagnosed the thing, a spark plug was MISSING and the coil on plug was back in place along with the evap solenoid being unplugged. I ran a compression test and it was perfect. Poped a new plug and reconnected the evap sensor and it was perfect! Not sure if a government employee sabotaged it or ?
that figures!!
Chris, you finally got to my spot. Lee Fox, the auctioneer, is totally awesome and fabulous...I bought 2 Crown Vic there in past 2 years. Every 30 days, new auction begins.... I ranted in a past post on ur site how destroyed the crap nj sells at that auction. Shame on NJ for selling cars with no brakes. As is/where is definitely is a dangerous game...
If you get the car for cheap, which seems to be the case here, you can fix the brakes. Look at the prices at Copart for worse vehicles. You are lucky to still be able to buy cars for that kind of price.
Everytime there's a new surplus auction video from ECC it's like Christmas morning
Haha, you're the best!
I can't believe the amount of money they are getting.
I was thinking the same thing. Makes no sense to me. Half those were junk
Thank you so much for your invaluable information, highly appreciate it, keep it up the outstanding job, have a great day.
Great ep! Can't wait for the next one.
Great video thank you so much for sharing i hope you have a amazing day ^^ good luck from Morocco 💟
Almost guaranteed that someone bought that Suburban to transfer the VIN to another Suburban (maybe a stolen one). I don't know what else on that vehicle would make it worth that much.
I didn't even think of a VIN swap scenario but that's certainly a possibility.
The pcm and other electronic parts are probably worth a mint considering the pandemic shortage. A bodyshop owner told me the vin is stamped in a lot of places including the frame. If an inspector was looking closely enough, someone might have some explaining to do but those body swaps do occur everyday on hot vehicles I’m sure.
Makes a good parts car
@@b-genspinster7895 Humor here in extension of context - your comment reminds me of the office scene from the 1974 Gone in 60 Seconds regarding 'Jill' the orange Challenger - "The adjuster that handled that total loss on the Challenger you did saw it on the lot @Prince Chrysler yesterday & wants
to know how in the hell that T/L he did 3 days ago is back on the road!?"
I bought my 10' Mercury Grand Marqis in Trenton, but on Copart aukcion.Greetings from Poland. That silver Crown Vic is in nice shape.Engine not running? No problem.Thank you for nice trip.
Damn, love all your videos. This auction is sweet!! I'd have bid at least $100 on the old Dodge dump truck, cheap farm truck
Just wanted to say great vid & I really appreciate your newer format showing the sale price of vehicles as they appear on screen! I think is much better than how you did it before. And actually, $2500 was decent deal on the first Suburban, just clean n flip as work truck would more than double the money.
nice video interesting change of setting. very reasonable prices on those crown vics.
That dodge dump stick truck painted and running will bring 10 k on eBay. I can’t believe no one bid on it. I’d have bought that in a heart beat.
Most everything else that's driveable is something that could be flipped to people who need a car. Think BHPH lot. The dump truck is a different matter - a buyer would either need a dump truck and have the skills to maintain an old one that's a significant part of your livelihood or want an '80s Dodge truck and have the skills to strip the dump bed off and put on a pickup or stake bed, and sell the dump body.
5:06 funny you mention it as a disposable car because my buddy saved this exact one and is restoring it as NJSP with the correct graphics and equipment. The car was mechanically better than most vics at that auction. So I guess our win 🤷♂️ has a good home in the Poconos in a garage along with 12 other nice vics
Thanks for showing the Explorers. Starting to make your followers look bang on---non-runners at a lower mileage.
That blue on the taurus looks really good
I had to rewind the beginning , I was distracted by something in the background , lol 😂
Believe me, I noticed too!
Definitely a bunch of rough vehicles. 😕 I drive by that place once in awhile when I work in the area. Thanks for showing us what they had.
Thanks for watching man. That road that the auction site is on was kinda weird. It started nice with a golf course but slowly turned a bit ugly than turned decent again. All within a mile or two.
Where do they advertise and do they get e mail notifyx. How about the one in holmdel
Congrats on getting out of Trenton in one piece! o_0
I love that first silver Street Appearance Package Crown Victoria
*Opens back door. Shows shredded seat*
"I'm going to guess canine"
So, you've met my dog.
Haha, good one man. Thanks for the laugh.
Interesting range of prices at this auction. Also interesting that what amounts to a wreck is pulling high prices, especially that suburban at the end--somebody must really have liked that strap holding down the tailgate... =-)
Haha, good one about the strap on the tailgate. And I had to double check the selling price and yeah, $10K
i cant believe that last suburban sold for 10k
Agreed man. I had to double check the selling price and yeah, $10K. Someone had mentioned in a prior comment that maybe, just maybe, that Suburban was bought for the VIN to be swapped onto another vehicle.
Thanks for the NJ auction walk around. I'm always interested in seeing what other auctions are about and the vehicles they have. 10,000 for the Suburbanis a lot of money for a badly damaged vehicle. Someone must have wanted the parts . 😎😎😎😎
I was thinking the same exact thing about the $10k for that wreck of a Tahoe. Somebody must think there's a lot of profit in parts.
@@hullinger I know something is Fishy about that.
Buy at auction, steal duplicate off street, transfer vin's off smashed unit onto stolen, place vehicle into steel shipping container and send/sell over seas . That simple.. common sense of putting the pieces together...
Speaking as a New Yorker; life is tough in New Jersey
Haha, that gave me a good laugh! Well done and well said.
hmmm. i moved over here from bronx in 2004 and never regretted for one day in my life!! hurry, hurry, rush to wait...
Seems like they beat the ever living hell out of the cars over there
Places like California change their emergency vehicles every 7 years, by law. It appears this place uses their cars until they can't any more.
Wow prices were insane there
Including the price sold at is so sick thanks
Why was that last destroyed car sold for 10k? Who would buy that?
If you have the time to go through the car, taking off all the pieces that were undamaged, and sold them separately, you'd make a killing! Especially if the engine and trans are still good! But $10k is hefty lol. Probably still going to 1.5x-2x that money though.
They are also paying for the Vin # especially if there sell insured that means it’s sold with a clean title not a salvage title.
I would have bid on that old green dodge dump truck in a heartbeat.
Hey sorry to ask but on my 2015 police charger the same thing that happened to yours happened to mine could u make a video on how to change the wheel speed sensor if u haven’t fixed yours yet? Thank you.
Most of the banged up 2016-2019 explorers have been through very bad accidents judging by the damage. I remembered a year ago a WCSO 2016-19 Explorer got tboned by a speeding car and the deputy was injured. Unfortunately I assumed the car was totaled completely and never saw that specific car again ever since
So how are they transferring vin’s?
Bravo!
Welcome to Dirty Jersey!
Only 2007-2014 Tahoes came in 2wd police package The 2015-2020 Tahoes came in PPV 2 and 4 wheel drive; the SSV came in 4 wheel drive only. The 2007-2013 Suburban 3/4 ton only came as Fleet, LS and LT. You would really be lucky to find a 2016-2019 Suburban 3500.
The dodge 350 was cool. The Suburban2500 sold cheap.
Heyy im from Germany and I wanna get a fors police interceptor Utility at about 30k or less miles. Is there any database where I can check?
Thank you soo much!
Pretty sure that mount in the Crown Vic would be for an MDT
Yes, Chris please give a us a “How To Video” of where when and how to buy at these Delaware Auction House’s…Please. Now where are these Auction Houses links please. ✌️BTW, yes I too am a long time subscriber to your channel, you are appreciated. Thanks again Chris, Peace Crazyhorse.
jeez, those prices are crazy for the busted up vehicles especially the high mileage busted up crown vic which sold for 1,100, and the suburban at the end for 10 grand
Whoever payed that much money for that truck must have money to burn because that truck seems to far gone to make that money back parting it out.
@@vidalmcneal4837 could be for some 3rd world country, they fix it up cheap and don't care about standards.
Crazy numbers for giant paperweights.
Those explorers with 50k miles where a good deal for 3200. The drivetrain alone would be like 6k.
3:24 The Taurus should be buffed out and be given a salvage title.
4:11 Crown Vic make great Taxi Cabs. Somebody should by these Crown Vics at auction, ship them to Mexico, then ship them to Cuba to use as taxi Cabs in Havana.
Those prices are insane
Yeah that seems like thin Pickens over there bought the Bonneville what a clean car ended up paying $325 for it took it over and got a detail for two hundred bucks you should see this thing
I would love to see you have fun with a suburban 2500, Im looking for one currently and would love an up close review.
Also OMG that 2500 burb for $2500 was an insane deal, just a junkyard middle and real seat and take those partitions out, maybe a good cleaning and its a steal, those are like $10-15k. I would love to know more, was that suburban damaged besides the minor interior stuff?
@@Harry11315 I agree, is definitely a steal - another route is just hose HELL out of it, use it for tow/haul rig. Those are excellent for it, as most hardly ever really carried REAL weight while in service.
Is it public ?
10k for the last vehicle is insane
I was surprised they were allowed to tint the windows so dark on the Suburban.
Agreed man. I had to double check the selling price and yeah, $10K
Do you ever do NY state auctions? Are these type of auctions available to civilians or do you have to register and get a license to attend?
These auctions are open to the public. No dealer license needed.
For the Police Explorers is it possible to add headrests to the rear bench seat?
I just bought a 2014...
And the answer would be no.. They come stock flat straight across the back..
@@SaltyNationalist Ahh thanks.
@@IKhanNot No problem..✌
So many crownvics wish I could get one
Definitely alot for sale there. Is there a site I can find when & where these are? I don't live far from those areas.
@@robertdiehl9003 Hey thanks for the info
@@robertdiehl9003 why you gotta do that prices have been going higher and higher from all the private people coming to auction driving up prices for the guys trying to do business….
It’s crazy what the used market is right now. Non running high mileage cars, still pulling in some high numbers.
Worse than the online dating market
where in new jersey that auction is at
The auction is in Trenton, NJ.
6:51 TBH that counsol is too big. Does not utilize much area for storage than it can provide.
So the going price for a pile of junk is $2200? Interesting.
Gosh I wish I could get decent prices like that for cars I trade in at dealerships!
Parts, parts and more parts.
Do you have a dealers license?
Being NJ... I've probably been pulled over by some of these cars 😂
havnt seen a 2500 tahoe in a long time...
As a trucker......NJ can slob my knob.
It would have been nice to see the number of bids in the vehicles as well.
I also wanted to get the total bids on each of those cars and trucks. The problem was the auction bidding was live and in person and way too much to keep up on.
Used crown vic police cars here in Idaho rarely go for more than 1K even the very clean ones.
Sounds like you've got a real 'honey hole' of Vics near you. It always surprises me just how wildly different car values can be between different parts of the county.
One missing windshield said 24k miles not 242
So I am guessing 2007 to 2013 (there as no 2014) 3/4 ton Suburbans are not common in your area if you never seen one before at auction. Here in Texas they are very common with cities for the Fire Department, School districts and public works. I see them often and they do pretty well here averaging $7000 to $10000 depending on year and 2wd or 4x4 (Most all are 2wd). There was never a SSV Suburban 3/4 ton or fleet only, it was a LS or LT1 or LT2. Yes the US Government had these, but it was nothing special to local cities. They also made the 2016 to 2019 Suburban 3500HD for fleet only and those are mostly federal government, but some are in local cities hands. Very few were converted to a Duramax and sold to the general public from a third party company. So if you see a 8-lug 2016 to 2019 they are very rare and will go for big money.
Oh and you will never be able to get the smell of dog out of any past K9 vehicle, that smell will always linger in there. They are almost not worth the money just because of that unless the person buying it has dog.
The mount over the radio is for the MDT computer, surprised you never seen that before. I think you had something like that on a Caprice PPV you had or saw at auction in the past. That one moved out of the way and the radio was still there and that is because in a Caprice the radio is a part of the climate system and cannot be removed.
I think that second Crown Vic you saw with the bench seat was a P73 as to many things looks civilian and not police/fleet like the cluster appeared to not be 140mph. Here in Texas with the state, they ordered many P73 cars just like that for non-Trooper units like admins. Also that black box is a Tremco interlock, you have too of come across these before with the foot button on the floor.
The ticket light in the rear on the police SUV is a factory option, need light back there to see all the cop stuff in the rear. My 2013 Ford Interceptor Utility from Texas DPS had the same light.
Anyway, good video and always look forward to watching them. I do miss the live auctions, but times have changed and they are pretty rare now a days.
Such a great comment and information. Thanks so much for taking the time to share all that. I appreciate all of it!
Can you help me buy a car in this auction?
I need a Tahoe with a K9 insert.
and it is at the auction because NJ has to sell it at auction no matter condition.
Lots of Crown Vics yeah cool 👍
Interesting to see the pricing and that was probably a gun safe in the Explorer why did that last suv go for 10k
I was thinking the same thing about the safe in the center console. I was also thinking that with a bit of time I bet I could figure out that three digit combo. Reminds be of those old bicycle locks.
I be looking online. EBay ect at cars in philly nothing but salvage title cars.
I like it
Agreeed, and me too! Thanks!
First be back when I watch the entire video later bro
I saw a white Dodge Avenger like mine!
Hey bud! There were so many cars at that auction that it was a little overwhelming. They were packed in too and made it tough to see everything. If I had seen the Avenger than I would have gotten some video of it and the selling price for you.
Holy crap, $10k for that last one? Wow
Totally agree with you on that $10k for the busted up Tahoe. Somebody must think there's a lot of profit in parts on that wreck.
@@hullinger Well, at least two people thought it was worth all kinds of money. Gotta wonder if maybe someone has stolen, or has their eyes on steeling, a 2019 Suburban and going to do a VIN swap.
I just noticed there were no ford focuses in this one
Oh yeah, good call. I didn't notice that either. I also didn't see any other small sized sedan's either.
2500 for the gmt900 holy Jesus a very good deal
$10,000 for that rolling wreck of a Suburban?
Is that a typo for $1,000??
Totally agree with you on that crazy $10k for the busted up Tahoe. Somebody must think there's a lot of profit in parts on that wreck.
Chris, are you sure the Sub-urban was $10K - that's not a typo? Holyoke, MA that's a lot of money for a twisted-up truck.
Totally agree with you on that $10k for the busted up Tahoe. Somebody must think there's a lot of profit in parts on that wreck.
Wow that's def the best place to buy a car, where else can u buy a Suburban for $2,500
NJSP uses suburbans almost exclusively. hence why.
Wow a lot of smashed up totalled off parts vehicles in Jersey. Almost like someone was told to clean up the yard or something?
Totally agree with ya man. That yard was a mess of busted up wrecks. Crazy thing is that I'm betting the State already got insurance payouts too.
$10k for that last chevy totalled...crazy
Totally agree with you on that $10k for the busted up Tahoe. Somebody must think there's a lot of profit in parts on that wreck.
Most of these are junk yard (part only) vehicles. Like some of the Crown Victoria cars.
wtf is an echo tech
Old cars are going’s up
10k for the wrecked suburban?!?!? Wth did they see that I didn’t , that it was worth so much?!? Also that old work horse green ram was clean and only had 50k miles and a stick! No bids?!? Was there a minimum starting bid or something that was high? Otherwise I’d of bid $100 for it easy, but I bet they had a minimum starting bid.
Surprised the dodge didn't at least sell for scrap.
I have been there many times looking at and buying larger trucks, they call it asset recovery, but they have poor asset management, the state should not own anything older than ten years old
3:52 *Ecoboost
Is it me or is 2500 a steal for that first one?
Man that last one, lol.
The safe is for storing a weapon
Good to know and thanks for sharing.
$10k for that Suburban?
Totally agree with you on that $10k for the busted up Tahoe. Somebody must think there's a lot of profit in parts on that wreck.
I’ll pretend you didn’t say that Ford has an Ecotec… 😂
What 10,000 for the suburban nop nop nop
I bought a Grand Marquis with 130k mileage and some minor cosmetic damage with no other issues for $1400. How are these beat ro shit crown vics going for so much???
