I think the situation in the economy is self inflicted by corporations raising prices for too high. Add all the extra costs on vehicles makes these more expensive than people are willing to pay even if they have the money
Bought my 2012 Chevy Silverado new. I paid $41,000 for it. Took it straight to Ziebart and had a spray in liner, molded mud flaps, hood protector, undercoated and rust protection. That cost me another $2,000. I take it back each year and they wash it, wax it, detail it inside (leather and carpet protection), touch up the undercoating and spray body panels with rust protection. It cost me $202.00 every year for this maintenance service. Truck is completely rust free and looks brand new inside and out. The truck has 130,000 miles on it. I did have to put a Jasper transmission in it last year. I plan on keeping it for another 10 years even if I have to put money into it every year I will because I can’t justify spending $80,000 to $120,000 on a new truck. I also strongly recommend to everyone I know that if you do buy a new vehicle to take it to Ziebart and have it sprayed for rust protection and undercoated. It works.
Ive seen short people carry a phone book and sit on the book so they can see ovr the hood. Actually looks like okay labor. If a tall person buys it, it has to come out? If a short driver buys it, leave it alone?
In California the new law says that if you buy a pick-up, it is now classified as a commercial vehicle. That license is way too expensive for people. So in dealers lots here in California, they are just sitting.
Because they can't sale their new they are dumping the used that they kept 3 years ago because they had nothing to sale. Very good info and you reported it first.
The economy is going gangbusters in the segments the government measures... Corporate profits, stock market, low unemployment, inflation is decreasing. It's doing horrible for small businesses and the average working person.
Used to sell new cars well in the past. I can tell you exactly what the BMW x5 mods and and damage is. the blocks are there because some one vertically either to tall or to short. Sense you basically sit on the floor. in a X5 a taller person needed extra height because the seat doesn't go high enough. Or a short person couldn't see over the dash. Seat would go far enough forward but not high enough. Now the damage to the back is from a bicycle rack mounted to the hitch.
raised the seat for a short driver. I bought a van blocked like that on the passenger side for a small wife. no big deal, just took the blocks out and bolted the seat down as it should be
Mid size truck market is burning to the ground and they deserve every bit of it. They were never meant to be $50K luxury vehicles but yet here we are looking at “deals” of 20-30% off at $35-50K. I’m offering dealers >40% off on gladiators right now and I’ll walk or drive an absolute beater until they read the tea leaves and take my bailout because in a few months my offer drops even lower and many are in the same state of mind. Lower or not many people are buying anytime soon.
I can ship a whole bunch of cars to you from south Florida. They will be dry by the time they get there. Good deal. I'll give it to you without any market adjustments.

Jacking up seats with wood is the most unsafe thing someone can perform. Also, that does not pass inspection for certain. Can you say lose of inspection license for sure.
I bet the BMW driver was 4 feet tall and needed the wood blocks to see over the dashboard. There are anti-rust coatings for the frame and they are recommended for 4Runners and likely other off-road vehicles like the Jeep.
My guess on the rust on the back right corner of the Jeep is that somebody was slamming that door shut which possibly cracked the paint and that was the beginning of the problem

How is it even legal to sell that BMW with the wood seat mount? I would think the auction house would deny it for safety reasons. That car is going to get someone killed.
I wholeheartedly agreed! It's not the business policy of these auctions to enforce such regulations. For example, I'm sure there are vehicles that need catalytic converters. Auctions are not for the novice. I've been in the car business for 20 years
Must not know much that wood was properly bolted in place and perfectly safe. Same wood used to support houses I'm confident it would hold a person in place. This was a modification made for someone short or possibly disabled as a boost to see better over steering wheel. Not first time I have seen this done.
@kenjett2434 I have no doubt it will support a person... until a high-speed collision then that person is going through the windshield. But it wouldn't stop me from purchasing at the right price, still safer than a motorcycle.
My guess on the jeep is that they used it to tow a boat/jetski into the water. Looks like rear end may have gotten damaged and salt water damaged the rear. My two cents. Thanks
I see a lot of people commenting that it was a short person on that bmw spacing. My theory is that they had an aftermarket subwoofer under the seat and they spaced it to fit it. Common when people dont want to pay to have custom bracket spacers made.

Same reason they make a Toyota Tacoma seat lift kit! The seats are straight back and have very lil adjustment! Every Tacoma I have ever owned has had a seat lift made for it. It was metal though!!!
I personally know of a company that uses fleet vehicles that placed an order for 75 vans that canceled the order because Mercedes offered them same price on better quality vans than Ram did. So there might be a different back story than business is slowing down. I am hearing many people say the economy is going down or is bad but at the same time say they are hiring because of increased demand of product.
Brandon, the wood blocks were to raise the seat for a short person, I'm 5'3 & I have my leather electric drivers seat in my new 2024 Honda Civic Hatchback Sport Touring raised as high as it will go, I would like another inch but I would never raise with wood. The seat belt adjuster on the B pillar is as low as it goes too, why I need another inch or so in height on my seat bc the seatbelt is on the verge of being a tad on the side of my neck. You saw in the BMW that the seat was already raised plus the wood blocks compared to the right side seat. My right seat is also electric but it only moves forward & backwards & tilt on the back of the seat but you can't raise it. Most every car I've ever owned that had the option of raising my drivers seat & I keep the top of the steering wheel even with the top of the dash, I hate see the top of the steering wheel while driving too.

I love it when you take us to the auctions😊
@3:34 - My tiny wife is 4' 10 inches tall and is over here saying "Why didn't I think of that?"
“If the economy is getting worse …”
Come on man, the economy is 💩
Not really. Economy is booming. The housing market is bad, the interest rates are sky high. You can thank daddy Trump for that. Giving away a few trillion in tax welfare to the top 10% on day one of his presidency caused Greedflation! Somebody has to pay for it, and it aint gonna be the rich!
Lol. Right? I was going to say the same thing. If there's any doubt in anybody's mind that we are all on the highway to hell, you need to open your eyes.
You should really check your facts.
Yeah, well...I don't feel this video proves it.
Bidenomics.
This is a huge indicator that the economy is contracting.
The Jeep that has Crusty paint with rust on the panels, when body work was done the body shop tech most likley sanded the rust resistant coating probably a zink or the like coating off of the panels during the body work before primer and painting. If you check the carfax there was most likely a accident on the Vin.
That’s something Red Green, would do.
Not enough Duct tape.😂😂🤣🤣
Funny, I love that show..
smh this is why i cant deal with auctions, co part, ebay..ppl over paying for everything!!! great videos as usual sir
35k for a used truck lol!
Done ia an understatement for the auto industry.
Would love to see you interview a floor plan company
they added the wooden blocks to raise the seat higher. that is probably for a very short woman, I am guessing. not a repair. I have seen this on cars for very short people, who need to sit up higher.
That jeep with the corrosion could be from someone who could have been a diver and used to throw his gear after diving in the rear soaking wet. Thought I saw a diver emblem inside.
It works.
Taking care of a car the way you do is fantastic.
I believe that law has been in place in California for a while. Even their license plate format is different compared to regular passenger vehicles.
"Looks like it's lifted" 🤣
That truck is higher than a third floor
Because they can't sale their new they are dumping the used that they kept 3 years ago because they had nothing to sale. Very good info and you reported it first.
The economy is going gangbusters in the segments the government measures... Corporate profits, stock market, low unemployment, inflation is decreasing. It's doing horrible for small businesses and the average working person.
I really appreciate what you are doing. Makes me feel like I can get a handle on what is happening in the auto world. Thank you.
2:45 A BMW with a trailer hitch? And the seats boosted with 4x4s? Expected in Alabama but not in NC...
That’s a stupid assed comment. I live in AL and I wouldn’t touch that vehicle. Since it’s a BMW, I’m sure someone from Cary would buy it.
Short person wanted 3.5 lift on seat
Exactly. It's not rocket science.
Then you can't reach the pedals
Dumping?? Where?? They have their people out there bidding on the cars to get the price up...worse than lawyers...Sharks!!!
raised the seat for a short driver. I bought a van blocked like that on the passenger side for a small wife. no big deal, just took the blocks out and bolted the seat down as it should be
They raised the seat for a short person I suspect, modified not repaired
It's still stupid, when I paid $32,000 in 2019 for a Z-71 colorado. The same thing is $45,000 now! Let them dump.
Mid size truck market is burning to the ground and they deserve every bit of it. They were never meant to be $50K luxury vehicles but yet here we are looking at “deals” of 20-30% off at $35-50K. They can get bent.
Lol
Use you from that. It's when moisture sits there or salt sits there and it builds up basically and doesn't get rinsed off and build up a dirt over time
Beemer tail damage... bikes on rack slammed into gate
local stallantis dealer near me has half their parking lot empty, all the trucks are gone. Never seen this before. I was in shock to see that empty parking lot. Had to have gone to auction cause people are not buying that many at once. Saw the salesman driving around a new jeep with the price written on the front windshield at the gas station, guy got out and was struting around admiring it in front of everyone, advertising.
2:29 the wood blocks are standard option in german cars, something about being eco friendly
Black Forest package 😂
Jacking up seats with wood is the most unsafe thing someone can perform. Also, that does not pass inspection for certain. Can you say lose of inspection license for sure.
I bet the BMW driver was 4 feet tall and needed the wood blocks to see over the dashboard. There are anti-rust coatings for the frame and they are recommended for 4Runners and likely other off-road vehicles like the Jeep.
No it was modification not a repair
My guess on the rust on the back right corner of the Jeep is that somebody was slamming that door shut which possibly cracked the paint and that was the beginning of the problem
Next video "ITS OVER" lol love the video!
2024 still the Year of Battery electrics absolutely. Next up entering the $25,000 US Dollar club in that market: Lucid Motors. And after that Canoo...
Short people have a right to drive too Brandon!!
Were those rebuilt ID stickers on the jam of that 2017 F150? Carfax makes a big difference in price on those late model cars, trucks and SUVs. You don't mention that.
My aunt just bought a 23 challenger 6 cylinder for 25k in Missouri. It was listed for 40k. Dealers are moving on their prices. Do some work and you'll get a good deal. She haggled with them for a couple days. But she got what she wanted to pay.
"Do some work and you'll get a good deal".. It's not the economy, it's poor haggling skill..
@@hctim96 the economy is fuct for sure... but these dealers aren't just going to give you a deal. They're trying to make as much as possible. You have to do your part. Don't be lazy about it.
I had 2x4 holding the back of the front seat from falling back on a $80 ford coupe. When your car craps out between LA and Vegas you can't be choosey.
You remember when the guy cut a hole in the door to unlock the car?
See lots of comments on the block, but It’s just a spacer. The bolts are holding it down., as long as they replaced the bolts with similar grade it’s probably fine
@@kenjett2434 VERY illegal and VERY unsafe in an accident.
@kenjett2434 I have no doubt it will support a person... until a high-speed collision then that person is going through the windshield. But it wouldn't stop me from purchasing at the right price, still safer than a motorcycle.
@@hoppy2515Not selling to the public, lots of stuff in the auction contracts and as is.
My guess on the jeep is that they used it to tow a boat/jetski into the water. Looks like rear end may have gotten damaged and salt water damaged the rear. My two cents. Thanks
Robert Deniro's BMW
BMW blocks to raise the seat up - same basic thing with a late 70s chevy pickup. They used wood to raise the seats so you could see over the hood.
Should have painted that wood black! 🤣
You've been saying this for so long... but a 2018 ram 1500 with 160k miles is still 28k at the dealer. This is insanity.
The economy is terrible, We've been in recession for over a year just nobody wants to tell you that in the news.
I see a lot of people commenting that it was a short person on that bmw spacing. My theory is that they had an aftermarket subwoofer under the seat and they spaced it to fit it. Common when people dont want to pay to have custom bracket spacers made.
Robert Deniro was the previous owner of the BMW, confirmed
That was a jab bc of trump huh?
That rust on the back of the Jeep is from backing a boat into the salt water from a ramp.😊
The economy is toast.
I can replace the drivetrain of my truck for the monthly payment on a new truck. Why would I buy anything at these prices?
Didn't you just pay cash for a new $50k minivan? My family is doing alright in the economy as well. Never made more.
I never made more either but I also never had to pay so much for food, cars, houses, etc... I think I was better off in 2005 making $20/hour.
I made $5.57 per hour in 1971 worth $43/hr today
@@anthonyg6221 no doubt the income gap is growing. If anybody expects corporations to willingly shrink their margins and pay more, I've got a bridge to sell.
In 2017 I paid $27K for an F150 with zero miles. This one is way over that used and beat up. But there's no inflation.
Salt from the road collects back there and when you wash are drive in water it cleans the salt off frame but not the way under paneling.
Looking for a high top. Just wished you had paused for a little longer and given the details on the Promaster. Maybe next time. All good.
hey, want to say thanks. Been watching some of your tubes, as I am shopping for a second vehicle. But, I did sell my 94 Xl Ranger 'high mileage', all manual for asking to the first looker. I priced no-nonsense, was honest about downsides, pushed the upsides.
I remember back in 2008 my dad bought a brand new 2008 Tacoma 4 door SR5 Prerunner for $23,000 after negotiating and some good rebates. Now they want 30,000 for a used one with stained seats at auction. I’ll keep driving my old trucks thanks.
nekem maradt es marad a 350sd
A lot of the larger commercial vehicles are being bought for people to live in. So many cute tiny homes have been created from those.
Same reason they make a Toyota Tacoma seat lift kit! The seats are straight back and have very lil adjustment! Every Tacoma I have ever owned has had a seat lift made for it. It was metal though!!!
In my little town of 3k people the stelantis dealer has 100 new cars ( unheard of here). The ford dealer has about 20, and GM has about 25.....
do some subarus.... they are very popular in boone area and greensboro.. my daughter is looking for one and need a good deal.. :)
That black Jeep was probably left out in the rain with the top off. Pretty often. With sand and dirt down in there, it will hold the moisture.
Might be a too expensive to fix broken power seat on the BMW, jacked the seat up to the permanent raised position.😁
If I had to guess about the Jeep with rust, I would say they probably used it to launch a boat and just got the rear part wet consistently.
