I like Acloset better. It has a calendar, calculates cost per wear, breaks down how much of my closet I'm using and what colors dominate each category, generates outfit suggestions ... and it's free.

I've been using Pinterest to catalogue my wardrobe and create a wishlist (as a tab for the wardrobe board) for the past few years and I find it does help me keep track of what I have. I may not have the exact item (depending how current it is and where purchased as I op shop / thrift / buy secondhand for most things) but it's a good visual to remind me not to double up on items. I might give Indyx a look though, if it works for Australian brands.

More than a year ago, I tried multiple free apps, and at that time, I liked the most Closet app. It was best at removing backgrounds and giving a clear look, but still imperfect, Indyx may work better. I mostly wanted to track a cost per wear and have an unbiased view of what I was wearing. But I stopped updating it in June 😅

I have been using a digital wardrobe app for 2 years. It’s been transformative. I can enter a new piece that I’m considering adding to my wardrobe and see if I can make 6 outfits with it that I would realistically wear. If I can’t do that. I don’t buy it. I use it for outfit planning and tracking cost per wear, as well as trying to style things I don’t wear enough.

I ALREADY started using it took an hour or so to catalog 50 items. Today I will (hopefully) finish up. The fact that it is taking my focus off the endless scrolling/online shopping is a life changer already. I have been trying to shop my own closet this makes it sooooo much easier. I realized comfort and shape is THE most important to me. This will allow me to categorize my outfits to have ideas on hand when I am bloated/on my period to have outfits I KNOW feel good and look good without getting discouraged and feeling bad about my body when a pair of pants fits tighter than I want at that point of my cycle!!! My body has changed a LOT over the past few years. This will help me track the materials and shapes of the items I feel the best in and I can shop for my real self instead of my "dream" self.

I’ve been tracking my wardrobe for over 2 years with Closet app and I use the app many times a day. I am a bit surprised by the approach of taking pictures instead of downloading product photos that are generally available, as (1) the effort is quite enormous and (2) product photos are so much more neat than anything we can achieve at home.
Whenever I am thinking of buying something new, I add the product photo to my items and try to build a few looks with it, before I decide for the purchase. It’s also a good visual way of maintaining a wishlist, making it more real and incorporated to your actual wardrobe :)
I always input data for categories, colors, sizes, price and a season, which allows me to track cost per wear, quickly see how many items of each category I have, or hide non-seasonal clothing. I am also a big fan of using a packing function - whenever I go for vacation, I just select the looks and I get a full packing list so I don’t forget anything :)
I also think it’s a good idea to put in every item you own - in other words, every white T-shirt or every black blazer - as (1) you track the cost-per-wear, and (2) having a good overview makes you stop before you hit “Buy” on the next white T-shirt. I think it’s good to be completely honest with yourself.
And when I am thinking of decluttering some items, I simply make them into a collage and send that to my friends who can call dibs on any items before I give it to charity.

    • @myindyx
      @myindyx 10 місяців тому +30

Using product photos is a great option! We particularly love the flat lay photos most eComm brands use these days. However, as you are uploading your entire closet for the first time, you might not be able to find existing product photos for all your items or it would actually take longer to search for them than to just take a good photo yourself.

I’ve been using the Stylebook app every day for over 10 years and have hundreds of items catalogued. If possible I use the brand’s own photograph for quality. If I was starting again I’d probably use something else because it’s rarely updated and only available on iPhone and iPad. I’ve never lost the data (it’s backed up to iCloud) but I can never buy an android phone. I use the Fabric type field to record my date of purchase so I can search say everything I bought in 2023. If I’m looking at a dress in a store I can quickly remind myself what I already have and it has helped me walk away from things. It’s a big task to start but adding new items as you buy them is quick and easy.

I am loving your videos Christina!!
I downloaded a similar app for free in 2021 and I have been playing and tracking my cost per wear.
It was really eye opening to see what I spend money on and what I can't seem to get the cost per wear down.
Keep up the amazing work xx

I started using a similar app for my wardrobe last year and this is a game changer! Now I have accepted that my most worn colour is black, the cost per wear for expensive and favourite clothes is quite low and I need to spend less on dupes. The app also shows my most/least worn clothes, which helps a lot with planning and conscious consumption 😎

I am using Stylebook at the moment and I add items as I buy them. The shop pics are the best obviously. My old items I catalog as I go. I have so much it would be impossible to put it all in in one go. I plan my week on the weekend and put the outfits into the calendar. So instead of scrolling online stores I am scrolling my app. It's great. I can also create travel capsules when I am planning what to pack.

So cool to see you do a vid on it, thanks💗

In summer, I've started using a similar app called Whering and it was eye opening. I started with my summer items and when the season changed, I've uploaded the items for the new season. I've noticed so many duplicates and that I have way too many items in some areas. There are items I'm on the fence about, so, because Whering is actually proposing outfits to you, I've seen them in combinations I've never thought of before and I could better pinpoint if it was the color or the fit that was not working for me. Also, when shopping, I upload a picture of the item and check the combinations I could wear it. This really stopped me from buying things that looked good on the website but would be hard to match with my current wardrobe.
And am I the only one who prefers pictures of clothes on the hanger than on the floor? I like seeing how the material drapes.
A few features that I absolutely love about Whering and I would expect in Indyx to make the switch: background removal, item is automatically recognized and categorized (my input is minimal, so uploading items is really fast), there's a styling area where I can either manually choose items for an outfit or it will generate outfits for me, grouping items and outfits in collections, assigning outfits to day or event, proposing outfits of the day, reports (cost per wear, popular items, colors in my wardrobe, how many items I have in each category, etc.).

This is an interesting concept, though I doubt I’d use it. I don’t have enough in my wardrobe to justify it (fewer than 60). It does encourage me to photograph the items I do have. I love the aspect of keeping track of what I have, but I’m plain Jane, so I don’t need the styling aspect. Thank you for showing us this new app!

Came across this, and I've been using it for two weeks. It's a game changer.
I normally think about what to wear the night before, and instead of opening my dressers, I'd just open the app to decide.
Also, I like how I can see the outfits I've worn. In the past, I often planned an outfit in my mind only to find out they're not washed yet. Now I see the clothes I've worn days prior sonI can now plan my outfits better.
I save a lot of time in the morning as well. And I now wear better clothes. I can't thank this app enough.
I only hope they incorporate a "note" attachment so you can put how you feel about your outfit that day.

Christina, fantastic video--I have been eyeing this app for some time as I have a rather large wardrobe and very deficient in the ability to customize and make outfits for work and play. My hesitation is that I am not aware of many men that use the app. I would definitely utilize the engagement of a stylist but want to know if the listed stylists can do a men's wardrobe or is that not an issue. Thanks so much!!

I can see how this is very useful. I am going to highly consider doing this as I am always looking for projects to keep me busy as I am retired. I'm just not technologically savvy. Do you put outfits together that you think may work, or have you combined the items that you have tried on and know that they work? Just curious. Great video.

You persuaded me to download the app and overall- it’s not bad. However there is one main issue that I encountered that really puts me off from using it- I noticed that whether a photo is taken in-app or uploaded from my personal gallery, the photo quality is always incredibly bad. Is there a specific setting I should have turned on/ off to fix this? It didn’t seem to be an issue for you or other people when I looked in the app at the other creators’ wardrobes but I can’t figure it out for myself.

I catalogue my wardrobe on Pinterest. Everytime I get something new, I'll add it to my Pinterest board. I also use it to make outfits, I'll put all the pieces together in a new board and add images for inspo and etc.
