In Northern Illinois we preach to people "don't use salt in the winter, it will damage the concrete". In SoCal, you guys throw it on. It's nice to see different finishes in different regions. Nice work. That's for not rolling the edges, drives me F'ing nuts.

3:33 Shovel doubles as a back scratcher too. Good work, although I guess I'd prefer your 50 horsehair/50 nylon broom finish to the holes with the salt finish.

I spent 3 years on my knees, every day, all hours, myself and my baby brother used to do all the concrete work for a General contractor, we worked for them but all we did was concrete I'm 70 years old no9w and sometimes while I'm walking my left just gives out, who would have guessed, hats off to ya I know how heavy that alium screed is

Us folks from the East Coast cringe when we see salt and concrete on the same surface, especially wet concrete.😬
I guess a one-time exposure and a thorough rinse and also no freezing does no harm. Nice job guys..!!

I agree. All that time spent to make it perfectly smooth... I don't really like any "effect" on concrete, 'cause it looks fake, but the owner could've at least chosen a brick or stone pattern. It would look good with the existent concrete.

Does the salt eventually just dissolve away overtime??? Or does it stay there like a crushed rock texture… I’ve never seen concrete done this way, or I’ve just probably never noticed it done, if the salt just washes away leaving behind it’s salt rock imprint in the concrete like an old fossil sea shell type rock.

    • @OdellCompleteConcrete

Have you ever had to remove and replace concrete. See my back yard is like 12 feet to the block wall, and the city put Eucalyptus trees 32 yrs ago and now they are lifting up my patio about 2" and its all cracked up everywhere .. the block wall has a crack all the way up. We bought this house new in 88
All my Neighbours down the street want them gone. So the city should at least pay you to fix the problem. I live in the Heritage in Fontana. I hope you can help us. Thanks

Hi there thank you for posting this video!! I have asked my concrete contractor in georgia to watch it so we can get a rock salt finish. I think my only question is, how long do you wait before pouring and rolling the rock salt? Or how do you know when it is ready to be rolled? @@OdellCompleteConcrete this must be only an airid area finish only. We try to avoid salt everywhere else... salts tend to weaken concrete drastically and cause premature failure. Anywhere it freezes you try to avoid pitted concrete as it just provides room in for moisture and thus ice to break and chip the surface up. Your taking a slab that should easily last 70+ years and making it so the surface could spall off in 10 years.
