This is an easy-level pattern, written in American Standard Terms. Because this pattern is written for sizes XS-5XL, you WILL need the written version of the pattern to complete it according to the size you need. Please refer to the written version first for any answers about hook size, yarn, etc.
IMPORTANT: Always, ALWAYS do a gauge check when beginning a garment pattern!

I wanted to take a minute to thank you for being one of the few independent designers that includes MANY MANY sizes in your patterns. I know that it’s not easy to just “size up” or “size down” when you’re expanding the written pattern, and that it takes time and effort to do so. But as someone who wears 3-5x depending on the brand, it’s wonderful to be able to sit down and make myself something pretty. It’s been quite depressing this year going to stores and not being able to find things on the rack that I can wear even in larger sizes. This is really the first time ever I’ve really struggled with that. And then you find beautiful patterns during UA-cam searches but find out that the video only is for size medium or size small and there’s no written pattern or the written pattern is only for one size and the size is never a big size lol. So thank you for being someone who includes as many people as humanly possible because there’s not many of you guys that do! I cannot wait to make this for myself!
hi i just wanted to know what yarn you used
I have seen this video on UA-cam many times. I clicked on it today because I have the colors needed on hand. Wow., was I surprised to see how gorgeous this sweater is in a larger photo! Now I’m determined to make it. Thank you.
WONDERFUL CROCHET CARDIGAN, SO LOVELY AND COMFY LOOKING!
You are amazing at explaining, and thank you for having many sizes. ❤
Your video has been super helpful. I've watched it in full and have come back for help with the pattern quite a few times. I'm sure everyone appreciates it like I do. :)
I'm loving this so much! I've been looking for a nice cardigan for a long time and my search is over! Thanks Rebecca
Rebecca, I made the Eva Cardigan last year. It turned out beautiful. I love it! Your video was top notch and so easy to follow. Thank you
What a beautiful cardigan. Thank you so so much for including the video that explains the pattern in easy to understand detail.
So glad your channel was suggested by UA-cam! I am definitely making this!
Donna Arsenault omg her tutorials are THE BEST!! Most of the time she does the ENTIRE pattern too! Her designs are super stylish and modern which in turn makes great wearable items! You’ve definitely found a gem of a channel ❤️
Oh I love this. At first look ithought it was knitted....yay, it is crochet.!!!!
Thank you so much for being a wonderful teacher. Beautiful patterns.
Thank you for this! I actually have a ton of the yarn this calls for in the pattern due to some huge Christmas crochet projects and I didn't know what I was going to do with the left over skeins I had. I wanted something different than what I had already done. Now I have a project for them. 🤗
Absolutely gorgeous cardigan! I will be making this very soon. Just need to finish some other sweater wips and go yarn shopping (yay!!). I'm so excited to start asap! Thank you for all the hard work you put in and for sharing!!! 🙏👏😊💖
Thank you for such great tutorials I made this cardigan it’s still hot in California so not wearing yet but I love it thanks again.
I also made your rustic pumpkins I made about 25 of them and gave them as gifts going into fall I thought they would be great inspiration to decorate for the fall holidays. Thanks again Rebecca your videos are great and very informative
Beautiful cardigan. Thank you. ❤️ from Belgium.
Wonderful work and so talented at presenting her tutotials. Love this channel.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I have just found this pattern and am so excited to see the larger sizes! As a larger person as well I have to agree with Amber about how difficult it is to find one in larger sizes. So thank you so much!
I Love the way she explains, I understand her very well. One of the best!
I love this cardigan. It is one of the prettiest I’ve seen. Thanks for your clear and precise tutorial and instructions. Your talent is outstanding. Stay well!
How hard is this pattern
What kind of stitches
I can't wait to make this! I chose different colorways: Peacock, Dijon, and Pumpkin Paradise!!! Thank you so much for sharing your craft.
Very beautiful cardigan! I will be making up one for myself 😉
This is so cool, but it's complicated. I'll try it. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Rebecca! Wow! Beautiful cardigan! So happy I found you. I subscribed because I love the tip you gave on making one of the pockets the gauge pattern. Very smart. Thanks for that😉 I can see you put a lot of thought into your design. Thank you, for sharing your gorgeous creation💖👍🤗
Love love this astonishing and beautiful cardi definitely gonna try it.thanks for sharing, waiting for your next tutorial.
I love your videos! They are always so detailed. I know when I start one of your patterns that includes a video I know I will be able to actually complete the project! ❤️
I love the look of the finished cardigan. Great pattern, Thank you so much! : )
I just started this! I am working up a pocket, so I can check my gauge. ( As you suggest in your blog!)❤️This has helped me to make it with a size 4 yarn( I get cold easy and want a cardigan that looks elegant, but I can wear everyday for my grandmothering life!( in and out all day long, and up alot at night, which tends to be cool enough for a sweater! )
So far my swatch/ pocket is looking nice, i did pull it all out and tighten my stitches just a tad and it looks lovely! I cannot wait to get this finished! Thank you so much for very informative pattern, and tutorial! I would have never taken on crocheting a garment, until I watched your whole tutorial, and read your blog! Not many go to the lengths you have to explain in terms that make sense!
Thank You! I love this cardigan!!!!! 👏🏻❤️
Absolutely beautiful design and I love the drape of thay yarn! Thank you so much for all your hard work and sharing it with us! I so appreciate it! 😍
Wow! Your teaching skills are impeccable! New subscriber.

I'm too new to crocheting....one day I will attempt this...beautiful...right now I'm getting rags and beanies sorta down....slow and steady...

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain your pattern. I enjoy your channel.
Omg this is STUNNING!!!!
BEAUTIFUL sweater...I will give it a try🧶🧶🧶😊Thank you for including multiple sizes!!!👍🏻😊

É lindíssimo este Cardigan. Amei! Você é muito talentosa parabéns! Desculpe-me. Mas poste este vídeo em português se for possível eu não entendo o idioma de vocês. ❤😙
Lovely Thanks
Olá eu sou do Brasil, e amei seu projeto.
Thanks for this pattern and video. Can you tell me how long the sleeve should be row 1-86, my yarn seems to be finer so I am needing to adjust the length.
I would like to say ditto with Amber Leitao's comment. I do have a question, about the sleeve seaming. Could it be done at the same time as the side seam. To explain what I mean: lay out the front & back panels flat and center the flat sleeve to the shoulder. Then seam the sleeve & side of cardigan in 1 long section. I have seen this done with other sweater patterns, would it work for this pattern? Love your patterns & keep up the great work it is much appreciated.
Yes it would! I considered doing it that way, but I wanted it to be REALLY easy to line up the sleeves correctly and it was harder to explain where to position them using that method. :)
Hi Rebecca, I was working on your Malia bag and had to put it down for a while. Can you tell me the best way to count my rows on the base as I have no idea where I left off. Do you count the chain row as a round? Does it matter if I am not exact on the number of rounds? Thank you for your videos, they are very clear and easy to understand. Thanks for sharing your patterns also. LOVE your work!
You don't count the chain. You'll be fine if you are one or two rounds off :)
I am having difficulty doing the 4x4 gauge.... can you show how to do that? first time crocheter and I don't know the linen stitch that well.
Hi Rebecca, I love this cardigan and it's my first garment to crochet. I got both the pockets to gauge (after a few tries!) And I just finished one of the front panels. My first color block came out about 1/4-1/2 inch larger than the rest of the whole panel in the first 20 rows or so. Is there a way to RIP it out and go back in upside down? Or do you think it might be ok? I just don't want to have puckering or anything when i sew it all together. Totally user error and trying to learn the stitch. You have been great and now that i have learned, it's flying right along. Thank you!
Hola muy bonito pero podrías poner subtítulos x favor 🙏 me gustaría hacerlo gracias ☺️
I love you this cardigan. I haven't made a crocheted garment other than hats or scarves before so this will be a first for me. I went to look at the written instructions and I am not sure if I am overlooking but I am unable to find the chart for how much yarn I will need. Can you please point me in the right direction when you have a minute. Thanks and again I love this pattern.💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙💜💙
Thank you! It's there, under "yarn" :)
I made the Eva cardigan as I said before I love it, but when I wear it it stretches out. It's now longer than when I first made it. Do you have any suggestions on how to stop it from stretching?
Can i use thick yarn like #4 to make this one cardigan? Does it give effect to the size i choose if i use different weight of yarn?
Not sure how many stitch I need any where for a medium size I will be glad to pay if that pattern is more clear. Help I really love this pattern
The pattern is free on my blog, in sizes XS - 5XL. Link in description :)
I wonder if you can knit the linen stitch to match the pattern? I think I will knit a gauge to see if it matches.
My daughter wants me to crochet this cardigan but she wants to be able to button it up. Where would you suggest to place the button holes please?
I've made the cardigan, but the armpit, where the starting chain of the sleeve meets the front/back panels, is much too tight. Is there any way to fix this or do I have to take out the side seams, remove and remake the sleeves to fit?
I have been working all night long on the gauge and can not get gauge no matter what.im using a really light dk, its loops and threads snuggly wuggly. Im using a g hook for the chain and the foundation row and can't even make it to 3.5 in. But using a E Or F my rows go way over and im crocheting as tight as i can. I dont know what to do. Please help
I understand I'm using a dk from Hobbii and it's thin so I'm going to keep using the 3.5 for the foundation chain. And using the G but I'm liking how the 3.5 is working out.
Please let me know what her response is about the gauge.
Galinda if you're using a DK, it's probably too thick. As I said in the pattern, you need a #1 or a thin #2, not a #3. :)
I will try again with loops n threads Woolike its a very fine yarn.
Can you make this with another type of yarn, such as a#3 or #4 weight
I am generally a tight crocheter. I have used various combos of hooks and am still not meeting the gauge row count. Using the hooks you suggest for the same yarn, I get the gauge stitch count, but no matter how small of hook the height is off. I am four stitches short which equals 1 in. What is the height of each color block so I can alter accordingly?
About 4" for sizes XS-L, 4.25" for sizes XL-5XL.
I am curious to know for those that completed this beautiful sweater, how long did it take to make????
I like the long sweater but for me I probably wouldn't change colors because I would want it to be easy for me since I've never done a long sweater before
I am having issues with trying to get the pdf downloaded on this purchase
Love it that I am giving it a try; however, I notice that the cardigan the model has a for a tall person, is there a way that it can be set for someone petite like myself?
Actually, the model is only 5'1. :)
@@YarnandChai Thank you ;-)
Is this pattern available in children’s sizes I purchased your pattern but I really want to make it for my 8 year old
Where's the ♡♡♡ button!
Amazing and i love it sooo much... plz u start by 22 stiches is it for small? And for each size we have to 2 more stiches?
In the video I'm just doing a sample swatch. You'll want to look at the written pattern (yarnandchai.com/eva-cardigan/) to find out the stitch counts for each size :)
I was intrigued by your One-Time payment All-Access pass in the description, so I went to your site...only to find that it's not there. People are asked to subscribe monthly or annually. 🤷🏻♀️
Hi! I bought this pattern and I was wondering how long it took you to crochet this sweater? I'm used to crocheting with a worsted weight.
I am unable to get to the pattern. How can I find it? Thank you!
Meraviglioso. Solo non ho capito se la manica è stata cucita sul dritto del lavoro o sul rovescio
Everything is seemed inside out.
Is this cardigan worked from bottom to top or top to bottom?
I am wanting to know the same thing. I want all my stitches to go the same way and in order to do that for it to come out how I want it, it would have to be worked from the bottom up. When I look at the pattern and the sequence of colors in the pattern and pictures of the sample cardigan it looks like top to bottom. IF it is top to bottom I don't like the way it will look. To me the stitches would be up side down....If ANY of that made sense.
I can't get into the hobby lobby link. Please help
Hobby Lobby doesn't ship outside the US, as far as I know. If you are outside the US, you'll have to find a substitute yarn :)
@@YarnandChai I could find a friend to order it for me. Tx.
What would be a comparable yarn in cotton or bamboo please?
I might try Cotton Fair by Premier, but definitely do your gauge check!
I want to do this project with a size 4 yarn that not chunky my questions what size hooks should u go with
In order to meet the gauge, you would have to go to such a small hook size that your fabric would be very very stiff. I don't recommend it.
Yarn and Chai thanks
how can you do this sweater with a heavy weight yarn? would it take less or more? I'm thinking less but I'm not an expert like yourself. I love this pattern and I love that you have put this pattern out for bigger sizes most people do not do that. You rock. Thanks so much for your time and patience Teresa
Hi Teresa! You would have to go strictly by the measurements provided in the pattern. You'd never be able to use heavy yarn with the same stitch count, as this was designed with a very thin yarn :)
So pretty and it look so easy thank you 😍 I am planning to make one but what yarn did you used? Is it 100% coton?
I used Soft & Sleek DK, which is a soft acrylic. You can find the link for it as well as all of the pattern details at the link in the description.
@@YarnandChai 😍 thank you so much. I always let a comment in a UA-cam videos but only you who replied. Really thanks. Love from France. 😍😘
It seems that Hobby Lobby is out of the colors of your cardigan. It's beautiful. What other yarns would you recommend? Would Caron soft yarn work for this? Thanks!
I think it would be too thick.
