There are sure to be plenty of copycats, and plenty of flashy dudes with fast fingers.. the magic is in the innovation and imagination and this is where Mr Claypool has made his mark among the greats.

Les Claypool's musical hero is Geddy Lee, we have that in common and that in itself earned my respect. He is definitely one of the best, without question. Even Geddy would tell you that much!
Fun Fact: Les Claypool may have looked up at Geddy as one of his biggest bass heroes, but most of his playing style and licks were actually taken and influenced by Stanley Clarke!
@@starrlightmighty5789 True! Very true! The whole Geddy thing is the reason I listened to him though. I wouldn't have known Claypool without Geddy mentioning him. Les makes me want to either pick up a bass and learn or never touch one knowing ill never be able to replicate the talent that pours out of him with wood and strings in his hands.
He’s the greatest bass player. It’s a fact. He does things in a such a unique and masterful way that no one could compare. He’s mastered the Bass and made it his own
Les Claypool would eat Cliff Burton for breakfast from a technical standpoint. Cliff played the bass like a guitar, while Claypool is a master at actual bass techniques. No comparison.
I am simply in awe of Les Claypool! His ability to play the Bass guitar is second to none. He is the most amazing bass player I have ever seen/heard, and I would love to see him in person. I would also enjoy meeting him because he seems like my kind of person - truly expressing himself with every performance. I would like to think that the personality on stage is the same as the one behind stage. That would make me attracted to him as a person.

That's exactly why him and Lemmy are some of my favorites
He reminds me a bit of Captain Beefheart for some reason
