I enjoyed that look at the locations for the film, with a nice tying of the film and current (when you filmed) locations, as sadly the car park is no more.
Newcastle is my hometown, my dad worked around Newcastle and the North East in the 70s, he was working around the area of Newcastle Central Station when this film started filming, he met Michael Caine and Ian Hendry, after their day was done.
I saw Get Carter when I was 16.
It came on at 9.00pm and I had never seen it.
I thought that Newcastle at that time looked very bleak but charming all the same.
It is a brilliant film about terrible people, with the exception of Keith and Doreen.
I laughed when Cliff Brumby landed on the car, my mum wasn't impressed.
It's a pity that Glenda's flat was demolished, these buildings are so gloomy but i love it, it reminds me a clockwork orange buildings. Thanks and regards from Spain
well done guys.....nice to see someone took the initiative to make video record of some of the locations. A former girlfriend of mine lived close to where Jack is finally killed near the beach...... she said it really did look that grim for a long time after the film had been shot! Good effort shot on either Panasonic M40/50 or MS4/5 judging by the camera case.
This is really good, hope the guys got somewhere out their efforts. Worked in Newcastle for 6 months some years ago and the Gateshead car park closed whilst I was there but before I could take my car into it. Think it was demolished around 2007/8.
This a cracking little film, good work!
I live in Mesa Arizona now,but grew up in Gateshead (Lobley Hill). Some of the bars down along the Quayside used to be pretty rough ...e.g. the "Chain Locker". They have made a lot of good changes in the last forty years. Thanks for the short film. You did a good job fellers.
well done lads. very entertaining
Fab film chaps!!!! Get Carter is one of my favourite films. :-)
Thoroghly enjoyed that, come back and see us sometime. I'll buy you a drink in the pub he goes to accross the road from The Central Station: "The Victotia Comet". They used the front of the building for the outside shots...the inside was "The Long Bar" which was demolished many years ago.
Another Lobley Hill guy here, great short guys!
Great video guys. I always the high bridge. I visited the bridge 8 years ago and I found it interesting that no one has given the bridge a coat of paint.
Great tribute to a great film. Thanks for posting.
Very Good,I really enjoyed that. You are proper Get Carter fans. I liked the scene where you visted at Dryderdale Hall with the lake. Brilliant stuff
He was brilliant fabulous❤
nice film the car park is gone now so you were lucky to film when you did
great video thanks guys, I am a big fan of the film.
one location which has no changed is the bit at the race course which is gosforth park know as newcastle race course were I worked there years ago
Great film lads. Can you take a look at Payroll next (also filmed in Newcastle, Low Fell etc)
Top marks...Great feature
Great work!
missing:
The stairs from mannors station.
Sallyport crescent where margret lives
the nightclub, was last called IKON, back then the the oxford galleries
Bridge hotel, where keith works. ( I think)
Blyth staithes
coal tipping, down past Seaburn
+sarahj8231 Wrong. The coal tipping was on Blackhall beach, we watched the film crew arrive.
Great work guys.
great video and well done chaps for it.
Well done lads, nicely done.
canny job lads,i lived in st cuthberts village
Good film boys well done and thank you
Yeah! What about the bar scene with the wimmin fighting? My Grandad was used as an extra drinking in the pub; I remember him coming home telling about the fight scene. Also you didn't get the other iconic location - Blackhall Colliery beach black with coal spoilings, dumped by mine aerial conveyor system in the closing violent scenes. Still nice vid, so thanks for the memories.
You guys have such cool names. Plus I caught one from a crewmember "Dryerda..." Cant see the rest due to the links to other videos.
Fun lark through the locations. I'm sure more are gone now. I think the car park is one of 'em. Only thing..., couldn't you visit whatever is at the location for those cars that took mine tailings and (haha) dumped 'em into the ocean? I vaguely recall it's now some kind of tourist attraction with cars you can ride in.
Good fun video. I enjoyed.
"Great short film, really enjoyed it. You should do a part 2 - The Train Station, Pub Opposite" Sorry, the 'Long Bar' in the Douglas Hotel was demolished a year or so after Get Carter was filmed, crappy office block there now.
Great video!!
thanks for the effort!
Excellent - thanks for the insight :)
Great stuff guys, except you seem to think that Gateshead is part of Newcastle! The line should have been "most of the scenes were filmed in Gateshead! It's a separate town!
Great video guys! Funny man
I don't think Doncaster would have had people checking out the locations all these years later
The actual book is set in Doncaster, and the ending is slightly different!
good video lads . a lass the famious car park now flat an a new supermarket built on the site
Great!
@alanheath Since writing this I have found all these locations and put film of them on my channel!
Great short film, really enjoyed it. You should do a part 2 - The Train Station, Pub Opposite, the car chase down at the Quayside outside a pub called offshore 44. The Ferry Crossing stations and the Beach in the Final Scene.
Very well done! ***** chase.
Great video

Good video ❤
ha better than most college films...
Great little film. You must have had loads of fun finding the locations and making the film. Excellent stuff. What about the pub ?
6:22 Knocked down a few years ago...
Best British gangster film ever
Good effort guys, but surprised you didn't include the swing bridge where Carter buys the drugs to kill the girl.
think the car park is gone now
Oh guy's, would you be interested in a re-make of this documentary? WOW quality production but you made a classic mistake of not travelling on the train and using the most iconic movie score of the century! Plus you should of had a dummy made up to be Cliff Brumby and thrown him off the car park - landing on your metro with you guy's hanging out of it. But anyway cheers for the memory & entertainment! QUALITY !!!
is Tom Whyman Bill Whyman's son?
The name Carter has a letter T in it boys
You missed out the nightclub ????????????
Is Newcastle still a "crap house" ,?
How amatuerish !!
A video made in 2002 by 18 year old college students and uploaded to UA-cam (a traditionally amateur platform) is amateurish? 😯
