Strange enough, very few people mention the horological history of Zodiac. They, along with Rolex Sub and a Blancpaon 50 phantoms are the FIRST dive watches introduced in 1953. While both Rolex and Blancpain have gone upscale lux, along with their prices, Zodiac has maintained fairly affordable and reasonable priced still today.
I managed to get the same Zodiac piece except in blue/white on SALE for a ceramic (steel core) and COSC certified watch.
That is a good point about Zodiac being one of the original modern dive watches along with Rolex, and Blancpain. I think that Zodiac offers good watches for the money.

This watch is great. Definitely could be a beach watch 100%. I always think diver's watches are so funny because they are faux tool watches. But this one is fun, doesn't take itself too seriously. 99% of diver's watches are desk divers and the majority of wearers dont take them diving. So its why im hesitant buying a watch with a feature that I won't use. well two features. the bezel and the extreme water resistance. divers watches are definitely for aesthetics hehehe.
one downside is, the color schema kinda puts it into g-shock color territory. i mean if you are in thailand or somewhere, a gshock might be safer to have on. if you are in a very westernized area you could wear this, but if you are in a non-western beach it might be too risky vs a gshock. plus i think only watch fans would spot it as being out of gshock's league. im thinking most ppl would think its very cool, but just like a fun watch you would buy at a night market. waaahhh too bad. I think only watch lovers would appreciate it hehehe.
I think it is a cool and fun watch, but just a little too flash for my taste. I totally agree, it is an awesome watch for hanging out on the beach all day. However, I am not much of a beach bum either, I like working and getting stuff done. I also agree, a flash gshock is fine, worst case just take it off and throw it if someone wants to steal it from you.
