    I absolutely loved this game as a kid. I was fascinated by the story and the graphics

    Had this for DOS back in the day. I remember liking it quite a lot.

    The beauty of retro gaming is all those gems you never played back in the day can be revisited anytime you like now.
    Played this on the Amiga and took me ages to figure out how to take off lol.
    The C64 version looks superb, definitely going to have a go over the weekend, never did have the chance to play this version.
    Thanks B, great review 👍

      Yeah I love the fact that we can play all the stuff we missed back in the day ..and when it comes to the C64 there is sooooo much to try

    Absolutely loved this game. I didn't even know about it, I was in a computer store returning a faulty printer they sold me for my c64. To make it up to me, they said I could pick a game - and i saw the Cinemaware name and just went "That!"

      It's so great , I just knew everytime I saw the Cinemaware logo I was in good hands 🕹️👍

    Great video, that's brought a lot of memories. I played this soooo many times on the A500 back in the day, but could never beat it, there seemed to be a huge difficulty spike in the guard fights after you got the first 3 rocket parts, but I always came back for one more go. The c64 version looks mighty impressive, must give it a go.

      Yeah most people played the Amiga version which is the most well known one .

    I played this on my Amiga 500 back then and its superior in every way , but this looks pretty good for a C64 game.

    • @BastichB64K
      @BastichB64K  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah the Amiga version is the best of course but for a C64 game this is damn impressive .

    i was 7 when this came out, so my ranger just fell over, all the time, fascinating.
    Blaming my poor gameplay on my age.

    • @BastichB64K
      @BastichB64K  3 роки тому +2

      It's a tricky game so for a 7 year old it was probably too much 😲 , doing this review I really battled with the takeoffs until I remembered the timing .

    • @txtworld
      @txtworld 3 роки тому

      Hehe, so many guys complain that they aren't as good at C64 gaming as they were when they were a kid, as their timing and reflexes isn't what it used to be. You can't have it both ways. But yeah, maybe 7 was a little young ... I guess the optimal age was when we were all teenagers.

      This is simply the type of review I'd like to watch on UA-cam ... No host trying to go out of their way to put in a joke in every 5 seconds and staying on the subject and not going into insane detail about an item in the menu 🤣👍 i just like quick and too the point 😅 so I'm glad you enjoyed it 👌

    At 2:09 that looks like our old trusty JVC VHS VCR on the shelf. Although methinks the pic's been edited ... there's no way an old CRT TV has a picture tube with such straight, square edges :-)

    This game didn't grab me back in the day, the mini games were too hard and confusing, but Wings was sublime, I even enjoy the 3D flight sections which didn't age very well. Played both on the Amiga though.

      @@BastichB64K In Holland pirating games wasn't something that was frowned upon when I was a kid. We all went to public copy parties that were held in dodgy backrooms :)
      I remember this protection very well 'cause when I got home, I had a copy of the non-cracked version. Had to wait for a whole month before I got the "right" version.

    I always wondered about this game but never played it. My only Cinemaware game for the C64 in those days was Sinbad. In more recent years I've also picked up Defender of the Crown off eBay.

      @@BastichB64K yeah man. When that scene happened, I was pretty shocked as I hadn't heard about it.. the screen looked rad and I'd thought the blimp was singularly the only token "reel sound" sequence.
