Increases resale value for sure. For the old or little tykes, carpet makes falls easier and can be replaced. Kids heavy use will destroy that paint BUT the hard work of the rails and tread prep makes the future repaint sooo much easier

Beautiful work! I didn’t see any other of your postings, so will just add that I wonder: what “steps” did you take to mitigate the slipperiness of the hard surfaced treads?
Also how did you secure the pictures and mirrors on the gallery wall of the stairwell? Normal hanging methods won’t be safe when someone inevitably trips or slips.
Not meaning to be hurtful. I am cursed with having been born in a year of the rabbit.
