One of the most under rated heroes of Indian cricket. He is the reason we won both the world cups. There's dada who gave us match winners like Gambhir, Sehwag,Yuvraj,Harbhajan, Zaheer,Kaif and then there is lobbyists Dhoni who finished most of of their career.
Dhoni gave u Kohli, Dhoni gave u Rohit, the no.1 and no.2 in icc odi rankings respectively. Watch Kohli's and Rohit's interview they said that MSD was the one who gave them chance at no.3 and opener respectively despite they failed no. of times at beginning, MSD kept trust on them.

Yeah, you are right. He seems to be too self righteous. I love him as a player and as a politician. He ir right to criticize dhoni though. But again he is egoistic, he was involved in many fights on field while playing cricket.
Gautam's only grudge with Dhoni is that he thinks Dhoni should have retired early to give chance to youngsters just like he expected Sehwag, Laxman. But the difference is, Sehwag and Laxman were legends but they couldn't lead the team with experience. Personal performance is one thing and is a MUST, but if there's someone who really helps others perform to their best then he is a gem to keep in the team as long as possible. Dhoni ALWAYS guides the other batsman he is playing with on how to chase targets and play the innings. While keeping he is always helping spinners with their lines and length and telling fast bowlers where to bowl. Sachin Sehwag Laxman Dravid and Gambhir were not able to do it.
Gautam is an ultra-nationalist and I have a HUGE respect for him and a difference of opinions is more than welcome, but some people make it a Dhoni vs Gambhir battle in the comments which is hilarious and idiotic of them.

Kyu na ho, when you're performing and not being considered for playing 11 you'll start questioning the decision. Players like gauti, yuvi,viru,pathan brothers, raina (and the list goes on) were not backed. If you were on his side maybe you would hold grudges too.
