Jay-Jay Feeney is the undisputed queen of music radio in New Zealand. She started the radio station The Edge and grew it into the massive brand that remains to this day. She currently hosts one of New Zealand’s most listened-to afternoon shows on the station, More FM.
She is the author of two books and has won too many NZ radio awards to count!
This is a strange episode... just because of the intensely personal nature of it. I can’t imagine I will ever record a podcast that is as raw, emotive, and vulnerable as this one is. The reason is the personal relationship.
JJ and I got married in 2004. We separated about 5 years ago but remain very, very close.
Because of this relationship, we know everything about one another and had the ability to touch upon some very serious stuff. Because of that a trigger warning is needed- this podcast episode discusses family violence and sexual abuse, infertility and IVF, depression, and suicide.

This was my first ever pod cast. Listened to it this afternoon. Loved every bit. Ex Hamiltonian, listened to JJ and Bob. Followed the weddings to strangers. Love your relationship, you are two very special people. Always felt like I understood Dom. Wow. Incredibly brave stuff with some of those topics. We are all humans and go through some tough times. What we need to get a lot better at is talking about some of the depression/suicide stuff you both discussed on this podcast. The more people do this, the more lives will be saved. Well done!

dom you and Jay jay are so open and honest with each other and the fact that you cried and showed your emotion in terms of your lifes together shows how much you loved each other and still have the most wonderful friendship and care about each other always. You may no longer be together as a couple but you still spend time together and love each others partners. Some people dont get the dynamic of your relationship and friendship but it works for you both Thank you for sharing your story jay jay I have pcos, depression and anxiety and was sexually assulted so i know what its like to go through so much crap and feel the weight of the world on your shoulders

Hi Jay Jay and Dom. I remember Brian Reid. We went to broadcasting school together in Christchurch. I did the 7-midnight shift at 89FM in Gisborne and Bob(Brian) did the drive show. He was a trail blazer. One time he did his show in his underwear! Very talented broadcaster ahead of his time

I loved listening to that! Like jay jay Im not an exerciser so i loved that wasnt specific to running lol. I remember listening to you guys way back then. I see you never mentioned Clark Gayford, I used to think you were all great together. Was Dom around then? I probably wouldn't pay a subscription because while i have listened to a few of your podcasts, i don't like your political view and i dont like sometimes you use that platform to have a dig. But I do love you guys regardless hehe. I my takehome from this interview was just because our views are sometimes different its ok ❤
