- EP64 Runners Only! with Dom Harvey & Rachel Hunter
Rachel Hunter was a secondary school student in Auckland when she was "discovered" by a photographer. She soon became one of the world’s most in-demand models, earning a reputation only a handful of people had, the title of “supermodel.“
So, what business does she have being on a podcast called Runners only? Glad you asked! She literally was out running when she was “discovered.”
This conversation was so enjoyable. We cover a lot of ground including the moment she quit school to become a model- great story…it involves a phone call to the school office landline while she was mid math’s exam.
Her reflections on Andy Hayden and how she got a gruff ex All Black to be her manager (Spoiler: it was a lot harder than you'd think).
We chat about the iconic Trumpet ad, posing for Playboy and staring in the iconic Stacie’s mom music video.
Why she has never read the chapter about herself in the Rod Stewart autobiography. We talk about Rod a lot…probably way more than she was comfortable with- sorry Rach!! LOL
The death of her mum, becoming a grandmother, menopause and much much more.

I love the playing as the ambulance goes past. She's a beautiful human being 🙏🏻💗
This interview was quite revealing. Shes really deep but playful and comes across as very genuine. I can see why she was so successful. Its not just her looks but her inner beauty
I confess I've always fancied our Rache from afar. And watching and listening to her even now, 30 odd years later, she still does it for me. ❤
Same lol
She's still Stunning & All Natural Beauty no make-up
Love this interview, Rachel is incredible so poised and also so natural. Friends of mine in the modelling industry said she was the hardest working person in the industry in New Zealand the whole time she worked, nothing was too small she turned up on time ready to work for farmers catalogues to runway work and always really friendly and down to earth. Her kids are a credit to her and their father. I saw her and her sister in Ponsonby one day they came into one of the cafes on Jervois Rd she sat down the kids were outside in their teens and other kids were talking to them asking for autographs and photos and they were so sweet. Seriously proud of her remaining so authentic.
Great to see Rachel is grounded and such a delightful lady
She grew on me from the ad to her tv show ,very down to earth
She’s got great character and what a wicked lady.
She’s had Such an interesting life and she has some amazing messages!
Rachel you are still an amazing individual, you make nz proud.
Thanks for sharing you , an I get the menopause 😢 it's horriable.
Stay being you
We so love Rachel. She's an authentic and beautiful person. Always love listening to her 💕~ Gen
Loved This!! A great interview .. Rachel is positively glowing!
She was the Cindy Crawford of nz in the 80s , icon💯🔥🔥
No she wasn't. Don't be daft. She was Super Model "Rachel Hunter" of NZ.
Amazing lady ..
I've seen Rachel's photo on the front of an old paperback (Mills & Boon?) also on Knitting pattern pamphlets. This is a good honest interview. The only thing which bugged me throughout was Rachel using the 'fill in' word LIKE...did anyone else notice it? Still very entertaining!
What a GREAT Watch!! Thanks for that.
Nice to see age kicks everyone's ass even super models.
The old walk of fame at Victoria park markets. That brings back memories. I recall my bro & I saw Rachel & I think her boyfriend on Queen Street during her tip topics cream days & we were thinking she was a bit of a snobby princess. How wrong were we! She’s so down to earth & still beautiful to this day. Great interview Dom!
Thank you Dom doing that prodcast with Rachel, I have just started listening to your podcasts and love them, thank you
Fantastic. Really enlightening
❤ this type of memories and chatter. Rachel is still very down to earth.

She still got it going on
Rachel didn’t even tell Dom about the food on his lip lol…
That’s how lovely she is…she didn’t want to embarrass me! Instead, I was even more embarrassed when I found out afterwards haha
@@dominicharvey-fo5pbyeah...it stood out like a sore thumb. I was more relieved than you were wen it magically disappeared soon after
Hi Rachael I lived in Glenfield too. You weren't geeky at school, i was your cooking partner briefly at Home Economics. I remember you hung out with a girl called Jane? 🤔 Anyway great interview! Cheers 😊😊
Rachael is awesome
Love her honesty.
Really enjoyed this chat. At 57min what is Rachel’s response?
32:03 "I said 'I want you to mar...'"

Hahahaha this made me literally LOL
@@dominicharvey-fo5pb I just started watching your interview with my last comment. I loved the honesty of this interview. I'm not famous, but I know you could do a three hour interview of my life and it would still have another three hours left. I'm the same age as Rachel, and she has kinda inspired me to write my own life story. I know it will be rather unique. And I ran three marathons and maybe 100 half marathons
Beautiful lady x

Toxic plasmolysis is a fascinating parasite that breeds in the gut of a cat but lives in the brain of a rat and makes it docile so the cat eats the rat to be able to breed in the stomach of the cat, hence the stereotype of the mad cat lady…
Dom Harvey Rachel boring me as this spiritually feelings that we are all born with i feel she's nothing different to most people with hidden issues my meaning is she talks the experiencing of finding herself and that's because she has hidden issues like remember gorgeous handsome Elvis Presley he too was never quite contented with his life that often he would open a bible of many beliefs like he would query why he was born for what reason? and i find it's so normal and common that people have issues of trying to find contentment i get bored with these people as my view just enjoy life go out to nature eat healthy have a glass of wine have a massage enjoy our beaches walk if you can near the sea fresh air and go meet up with a group of like minded people that think simple enjoy your children and grandchildren don' worry why are you here on this earth for life is too short just enjoy where ever you are.
What a BORING interview...just a jumble of nothing
Ha, I found the opposite. I expected a standard linear interview, but I found it far more entertaining because they jumped all over the place.
It's OK being yourself unless you oppose vax and lockdown mandates.
Do you mean Rachel does?
Don't be an ignorant git
