I don’t like the way this ended at all. After sharing yourself, so bravely, to have it end with a viewer’s harsh criticism is unfair to you. Matty, you are a light and we appreciate you. If only you could see clearly those of us you touch in a good way by sharing that light, you’d see the naysayers are few in comparison. Keep your head up friend.
It made me so sad that Matty believed what that troll was saying :( Just because he gets emotional and starts speaking his true feelings about things, does not make him a downer of any kind. I hate how that commenter overlooked everything Matt said and took it as him being “negative”.
It's awful that 1 nasty voice can overshadow all the other voices of positivity and support and optimism. And sow seeds of doubt and shame in someone's mind. Reminder for people to JUST BE KIND. OR DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL.

I’ve never met a creator where I can connect to them on a personal level like this, and I’m so grateful that you give us the opportunity to actually interact and talk with you. I’ve been a watcher for many years, and make it a ritualistic thing to watch your full season 11 review at least three times every year lol. I think I was with you when you were around 14k-17k subscribers, and seeing you grow makes me so overwhelming happy! It can be difficult out here (and I wish I could just give you the huge numbers you deserve) eventually your hard work will pay in dividends you will never know. You are not just a UA-camr to most of us, you are family, a familiar place, a comforting zone for us to congregate and be ourselves despite what the world is saying and doing.

OMG! This is my first time seeing Alex on a live! He is too funny. It was really special to see how you two hold each other up and appreciate each other through the thick and thin times. It seems so rare these days where you're appreciated for who you are rather that what you have and what you've accomplish. ❤ The BET awards seemed like a whole mess. Seeing what other countries pull out for their award shows like in S. Korea the US pales in comparison. The US is looking mighty provincial out here. I appreciated your real talk at the end of the stream. You get up every day to do this work as well as your own personal work and that has to be appreciated. As we get older, we should be enriching ourselves and learning new life skills. Many folks out here to don't do that end up projecting and trying to shame others because they lack self worth and the personal accountability to change. To this day I still watched that cameo You made about grieving my grandmother and listening to Alex on How he said he can see you mother through you, I'm now inspired to have people learn and understand my Grandma through me in my actions. So I was listening to the playback on Monday evening (a few hours after the livestream) and I was driving when you “hit” the vulnerable moment, so I couldn’t see any of the comments on the screen. But it resonated with me; I actually teared up. I wanted to comment right away, but I was actually reflecting on it…and Matty might be a talker but so is Shea! I could have written a short novel here! Now a few days later, I’ll try to stick to the Coles Notes version (oops! It’s Cliff Notes in the US).
Well, my dear Matty, you and I are different, but we do have some stuff in common. I’m a 50-year-old Canadian woman (with ADHD) with two young adult children (son aged 20 with ADHD & daughter with ADHD & ASDaged 19, an 9-month old granddaughter, a 10-year-old cat, non-queer, currently on workers comp, technically speaking I’m biracial but I don’t identify as Black per se (not that I have an issue with it, and I’m well aware of what I look like, but I was adopted by yt ppl, grew up in an all yt environment…in fact, I must have been 15 the first time I actually met a Black person (well who culturally identifies as Black)…anyhow, we could discuss this forever, and there are nuances to all of this…all I’m trying to say is that we have most likely very different life experiences, we navigate in very different environments. Yet, I relate in a lot of ways. Thank you for coming into my home for the past year or so (I think I started watching you last summer). I’ve been on leave from work in film and TV for 18 months now due to an injury sustained at work. Work was where I socialized mostly, especially because the p@nd*m1c affected a lot of the few connections I had. I have felt isolated a lot. So watching you, whether live or on the playback has been nice. I respect your opinions, even if I’m not always on board, and I appreciate you sharing some of you with us. Now sometimes, I’m not familiar with what yourself or your guests discuss; but it doesn’t matter.
Now, I hear you and feel you, esp. when you’re talking about your channel, your life, the feedback, etc. It’s not easy putting yourself out there, opened to be criticized or worst, attacked. People are much more likely to complain or criticize than they are to praise someone or something. And behind the keyboard, it’s even easier to execute. And trolls aside, some people are really going for it. For example, a month or so ago, I commented a YTer video post UKvstW2. Long story short (I’m trying, I do have ADHD!) I said that x queen “irks me”, which was somewhat on the same page as the YTer. Now I didn’t say she was bad, or I didn’t attack her drag, and I can still appreciate some of the skills that queen had shown, and some of the looks, etc. …it was more of a passive comment. Maybe I should have said that “I’M irked” instead. It’s just that person’s behaviour, or they express themselves, etc. Needless to say, it was just MY opinion, somehow agreeing with what the YTer had said in the video, not an attack, etc. OMG! It got ugly quickly! I got attacked. So I clapped back, questioning why I was being attacked, still w/o implicating the queen in question and stating that I had not said anything negative…and it escalated: I got attacked by another “fan” for clapping back, and my character -ppl that don’t know me…it took restrain for me to not continue the cycle and keep commenting and defending myself. And all that over a short sentence: *Queen Name* irks me. All this to say that I can only imagine how it is for you. I had commented a on live before where I could tell you were a tad triggered by my comment - which wasn’t meant as a critique at the time, just a add-on - but I clocked it was a defensive reaction at the time, most likely because you might have been…looking for the proper word (English isn’t my first language)…hmmm…you had been feeling some kind of way already, most likely because of some events, and what some others might have said, etc. Anyhow, you’ve got all my sympathy to do what you do. I’d love to produce content at some point in the near future, but I don’t think I could do it as my “job”. You’ve got all my admiration. Your channel is your baby (beside the fur babies), it’s your livelihood, it’s in your home. And you need to produce content in order to make $$ and pay your bills, but you also have to at times focus your content to meet certain criteria so you can make enough, and you have to be careful not to alienate your audience, but still stay true to yourself…etc. And I’m thinking that how your channel does most likely feels personal.
Anyhow, needless to say, thanks for being you, for letting us in your house on a regular basis, for sharing your opinions and some of your life with us.
