This was the first Bassmasters Classic I and my father in law ever attended. So I had been working this job that had a mandatory 6 day work week and I’d done this for two years. I called in sick and went to this Classic! Little did I know it was gonna be live on tv and when the cameras started rolling, they zoomed in on my father in law and me! I went to hiding then for fear someone would spot me and turn me in! 😅 Those were the days!
I taped every episode back in the day cause I was always fishing when the show was on . Loved those old shows , I barely watch today , but I still fish
Boy how times have changed on lake chickamauga! Any cast can be a 10-14 pound Bass the last Tennessee state record came from Chick. Ole Nick A Jack has came back as well! Only issue is if the TVA isn’t pulling current it’s extremely tuff! Awesome video guys!
Cool seeing forrest wood ...man he built some awesome boats whats funny alot of those 1986 rangers are still in use to this very day they were built to last built like tanks
I grew up fishing chick it's always been a blast. even 30.years ago I remember often catching 3 pounders all day and I was only 10 so.i wasn't that good.
They were trying to get a longer swing and better hooksets because the rods were shorter pistol grips before the longer trigger stick style rods tool over.
These are so cool . . . the music & narration really takes you back in time. Well done Bassmaster for posting these.

The overhead hookset is great!!! 😂😂😂
Nice shorts!
The scripture quotes were awesome.
30:15 Ray Scott is incorrect. Roland finished 2nd in the 1980 Classic.
I get a kick out of the shotgun blastoffs. Lol
8:45 in the super invitational zell roland did beat jimmy houston the AOY but not before jimmy taking out the angler of the year crown
37:36 Charlie Reed is under 2 lbs behind the leader but he has got the inside track
it was lights camera action
I love the ripoff Miami Vice intro 😂🤣
Bassmaster was using that iconic intro music in 1984, the same year Miami Vice was 1st introduced. It had nothing to do with Miami Vice.
roland the GOAT
Thank Goodness they stopped that Over the head hookset, Looked Ridiculous.
