That skiff handles the weather and chop really well. Little fishing tip is try fishing points and little creek mouths on outgoing tide and docks on incoming tides and also try taking off the popping cork those gulp shrimp are the bomb I have had so much success especially on new penny but gently jig it on the bottom and reel very slow. People tell me popping corks are great but never had much success may just be me through I may not be working them correctly.
PCB was gorgeous yesterday. I was paddling around the jetty all afternoon on my paddleboard. The new fin works great. Lost my old one in Orange Beach like we talked about and got the replacement on Amazon. God bless Trip!
We're having really nasty weather in Colorado too. I get through it by recognizing that it will be changing soon, but it's hard when you just want to be outside doing stuff.
Trip, should've done your trip this weekend... finally nice down here on the gulf. Now that it's warming up, use that range pass again before it expires!
One good way to fish the flats on a boat is drifting, letting the wind push your boat while casting ahead of you this way you can fish many dident areas at once this will help you find fish
Now this adventure took a lot of balls if anyone has ever slept out cold and wet no matter what the weather is after as long as you're wet it sucks but man it still look like it have adventure good job 3 T
Hey trip. Thanks for the videos. Love the anchor bag idea . One addition I thought of is to run the end of the rode through a new hole in the bottom of the bag so you can tie off the end of the rode before throwing the anchor out of the other end of the bag. Just in case. (Yes I have forgotten to tie of the anchor rode, but was lucky the rode floated).
You're welcome, glad you enjoy them! I thought about that but I don't want the bag to be hanging around on deck. I like to keep things out of sight if possible.
Might be a good idea to clip a small float and line to the back side of that anchor, especially with that thin rode. If the rode breaks, you are out some money. Also, if the anchor fouls, you can get around and pull it loose from behind.
Hey Trip, nice video. Lil tip that mite help on fishing. Watch for bait fish or schools, and diving birds, also where the wind and tide push water against a shoreline or especially points (hiding places). When the waters cold, work your lure slower, and live bait rules!
Nobody on Ono Island invited you over? LOL You should have ran around to Weeks Bay and up Fish River. The fish get into deep parts of that river during the winter. Thanks for sharing !
with all those docks, try fish around any kind of structure, like...docks. If you try after dark, around dock lights is like catching fish in a barrel.
Dang man, I've been following you for years and I'm a police officer in Orange Beach! I would have loved to meet you man, huge fan. Thanks for the videos!
Hey Chris! Thanks for following so long! Hey, I'd love to meet you to man. Not sure when I'll be back exactly but I will be there early May. Shoot me an email over at tripsmith.live/contact
Love the videos brother is there a place you buy your outboards from I just scored a 14-48 jon boat lookin for a place to buy any suggestions? Thanks again McGee
I was really hoping you’d hook up with something. You where trying so hard for yourself. Lol. Just don’t get discouraged. You will get it. The backwaters and bays can be tough sometimes. If you get a chance fish the surf of the gulf. The IWC is hard. Great adventure as usual even though the wishful weather app was just that. Stick to the one you know is most likely true and not what you expect. Weather has been crappy for the LA,panhandle area.
My weather apps have been all over the place. Last week during the Texas Blizzard of 2021 I learned to trust the apps less than the weather forecasters on TV.
Been binge watching all the old videos lately and got inspired to purchase the new blackfin xl sup! Would love to see you checkout one of the sea doo fish pro jetskis i bet those baby’s would be great for some adventures.
Im suprised u didnt get run over right there! Thats the main passage side of that bridge ALL the boats have to go thru that way. The other side close to Ono is where you should have been because there is a huge sandbar on the east side of the bridge that keeps boats from passing over that way.
No kidding? I donno, it was super shallow there, probably not even 2'. While I was there I saw two boats pass through (working barge and a charter sport fisher) both 2 or 3 sections over.
Man you can catch catfish all day long with any live or dead bait. From my experience in Fl live shrimp gets you everything even if it’s not what you want it’s fun to reel in
Love a good read. What's the book your talking about in the video. The one about small craft adventures. Enjoy the videos, keep them coming but stay safe
Trip I suggest you watch local fishing pro channel Anglerup with brant to see best technique and baits to use on gulf coast inshore. You really need to master fishing since youre surrounded by awesome fish. I would have gathered some fiddler crabs on the shore by that bridge and nailed the sheepshead fish undoubtedly hanging out on those bridge piles. We have some of the best fishing in the world here and you need to take advantage of it.
It's super old so they probably don't make the same one these days. If I were to buy another (and I should) I'd probably jump on this one - amzn.to/3kchYhF
This one is home made out of PVC. It's working great but I've been warned that they can break unexpectedly while underway.... Maybe I'll get a Carbon Marine one again like I had on my old boat.
He commented on a previous video that those were put on for fly fishing. They catch the line as a fly fisherman is stripping it off the reel and keeps it from falling into the water. I wondered the same thing until I stumbled on that video.
My useless 2¢ - Average person consumes over 10 times more nitrates from vegetables (yes vegetables) than they do processed meat... Even on carnivore/keto diet nitrates probably are not that big of an issue, as someone eating a vegan or plant-based diet is consuming way more nitrates. I think the carcinogens in the burnt/searing of meat are the bigger concern long-term.
That is not the way you use a bobber buddy.... I am not trying to be mean.... I like u bro.... but DAMN.... hahah.... look up Fish The Moment.... You will learn alot about fishing as well as your navionics....
Trip, my wife and I have been watching for a while and love your stuff. One note, we are concerned with your daily salt intake. I know you're diet conscious, but, should maybe consider that as part of your diet configuration.
We party on old river almost every weekend... So cool to see you in my hometown.
fantastic setup!
Don’t give up on the fish man. The pay off will feel that much better.
Oh Yea I know. I'll be giving it some more effort ;)
AWESOME VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!
You are right in the middle of some prime spec fishing... That is my stomping grounds... headed to buy an lt25 lo tide tomorrow.
I watch this channel more than TV now, keep it up Trip. 👍🏻
Ha that's awesome to hear! Keep enjoying!
Same dude
I don't even watch TV anymore. Trip is my tv. About got the inflatable done and will be taking trips myself
PCB was gorgeous yesterday. I was paddling around the jetty all afternoon on my paddleboard. The new fin works great. Lost my old one in Orange Beach like we talked about and got the replacement on Amazon. God bless Trip!
Wish I could have been there.... Glad you found a replacement!@
Trip you need to hook up with Bama Beach Bum he's a UA-camr out of Gulf Shores, you need some help with your fishing.
I'll check him out! Thanks!
We're having really nasty weather in Colorado too. I get through it by recognizing that it will be changing soon, but it's hard when you just want to be outside doing stuff.
I understand ya. Hopefully it will all be gone soon!
Love your Adventures! Thanks for the ride.
Glad you like them!
Trip, should've done your trip this weekend... finally nice down here on the gulf. Now that it's warming up, use that range pass again before it expires!
Yea I know... my schedule is pretty pre-determined so I have to go when I can.
One good way to fish the flats on a boat is drifting, letting the wind push your boat while casting ahead of you this way you can fish many dident areas at once this will help you find fish
Good tip! I will give that one a try.
That skiff is a bullet! 👍
She moves ;)
Love that your fishing
I enjoy it so you should see some more ;)
Weather Bug has always been the best for me.
Yea I had used it for years but it seemed to be off at times so I have been trying different ones....
Now this adventure took a lot of balls if anyone has ever slept out cold and wet no matter what the weather is after as long as you're wet it sucks but man it still look like it have adventure good job 3 T
Either that or just silly foolish tendencies lol Yes, it did suck.... Thanks Jack!
Wow that boat handles the bay well. I know how rough it can get in those bays. 👍🏻
It really does. Love the boat!
Hey trip. Thanks for the videos. Love the anchor bag idea . That tugboat towards the end, that’s one that belongs to the company I work for 😎
Oh cool! I enjoy seeing them out on the water.
Might be a good idea to clip a small float and line to the back side of that anchor, especially with that thin rode. If the rode breaks, you are out some money. Also, if the anchor fouls, you can get around and pull it loose from behind.

Thankya! Good suggestions, thanks!~
I got a book for you it’s called All the men in the sea. Great book. I worked with a couple captains that were rescuing people out of the water.
Just added it to my list! Thanks for the suggestion.
Nobody on Ono Island invited you over? LOL You should have ran around to Weeks Bay and up Fish River. The fish get into deep parts of that river during the winter. Thanks for sharing !
They sure didn't! Ah, well thanks for the info Charles!
Good baits and cork, over cast is ok. That front got you. Look for small bait running in the water.
10-4 thanks!
with all those docks, try fish around any kind of structure, like...docks. If you try after dark, around dock lights is like catching fish in a barrel.
I've always wanted to try around a dock light....
Shoot me an email over at tripsmith.live/contact
try on the bottom when its cold, lose the cork unless its warm and sunny, the paddle tails you just crank slow and shrimp jig them
Copy that Dave, thanks!
Love the videos brother is there a place you buy your outboards from I just scored a 14-48 jon boat lookin for a place to buy any suggestions? Thanks again McGee
Great video. Liked, subscribed and hit the little bell....lol.
Thankya much!!!!

Yea me too lol I look forward to giving it another go. Not giving up yet!
Sorry you’re been getting bad weather. I reuse those gelato containers, too.
U really gotta jerk them bobbers and make some splashing with it. It’ll attract redfish and trout
My weather apps have been all over the place. Last week during the Texas Blizzard of 2021 I learned to trust the apps less than the weather forecasters on TV.
Haha yea they have gotten pretty bad.... Crazy....
You need to come to hilliard Florida we can go catch some bream fish. Fill our boats up
I need too!
Heading to 30A end of March to visit some friends. Definitely looking for some springs to visit now
Hey awesome! Enjoy it!
Try a weed less hook with a Gambler paddletail. Don't give up bro. Cool video as always.
Gotcha, thanks Ralph!
Hey man when your fishing those flats in the bay try a gold spoon, or silver spoon,it's a type of spinning lure, great for Red fish and speckled trout.
Ok cool, I'll have to give them a go. Thanks for the suggestion!
Been binge watching all the old videos lately and got inspired to purchase the new blackfin xl sup! Would love to see you checkout one of the sea doo fish pro jetskis i bet those baby’s would be great for some adventures.
Great purchase! Oh yea, I'd love to get my hands on a jet ski for an adventure.... Would be pretty awesome.
Im suprised u didnt get run over right there!

Yea, I probably should grab some next time!
Cant believe your fishing luck!

Yes sir!
Hey Trip, Love your videos! I get my Sardines at Costco. They have their products on sale at least twice per year.
Glad you enjoy them Jim! We don't have a Costco unfortunately and you "Sams Club" doesn't carry sardines.
Not sure if you did, but you really need to post an anchor light so other boats can see you are anchored.
I had a light sitting on my grab rail ;)
Have you read Sailing alone around the world by Joshua Slocum yet? Great read if you haven't. If you can't find it in a sfiew I will send you my copy
Store*
``Around the world alone`` ``The Spray`` Joshua Slocum`s AWESOME. ****cheers**** =D
Sure have, I've got my copy sitting here in my office. Will be reading it again soon ;)
Gotta make the best iota bad situations sometimes.. Every day is a good day some are just better than others..
Absolutely!

I will check him out some more. I've watched a few of his videos in the past. Pretty good stuff! Thanks for the suggestion.
I'd love to know next time you in Mobile on a trip. There's alot of places I could show you

Have to have anchor light on at night while anchored
Had one ;)
Which frogg toggs suit are you wearing
It's super old so they probably don't make the same one these days. If I were to buy another (and I should) I'd probably jump on this one - amzn.to/3kchYhF
hey trip what tiller extension do you use?
This one is home made out of PVC. It's working great but I've been warned that they can break unexpectedly while underway.... Maybe I'll get a Carbon Marine one again like I had on my old boat.
I use weather bug and it’s real accurate
I used to, but it wasn't very accurate for me. Used it for years as it was easy to navigate
We use it for work but it changes every hour around the south anyway but I got a deal on the upgraded version a couple of years ago it was $.99
the orange cookie should be eaten with hot tea, sugar, and milk.
Ahhhh, that would make it better lol
Can can you post the recipe for your Soaking it chili ?
I need to... Adding that to my list!
I really shouldn't be watching your videoes during winter time here in Denmark, when its just too cold to get out on the water.
Lol Maybe it'll help you get through the cold!
What is the reason for the pointed things on front of your boat ???
He commented on a previous video that those were put on for fly fishing. They catch the line as a fly fisherman is stripping it off the reel and keeps it from falling into the water. I wondered the same thing until I stumbled on that video.
Adam is correct ;)
Hey Trip what's the name of the book
A Speck on the Sea - amzn.to/3um6H2L
Hello

What great info! Not useless... Now I know... So I probably don't need to worry so much about nitrates in jerky then huh?
That is not the way you use a bobber buddy.... I am not trying to be mean.... I like u bro.... but DAMN.... hahah.... look up Fish The Moment.... You will learn alot about fishing as well as your navionics....
Yea, I suck all around at fishing. Mainly because I'm not to enthused about it ;)
Sardines on sale.....good. Cheap sardines.......not good!
I agree with ya. Although I've tried more "expensive" sardines the Beach Cliff are my favorite. Great Value..... no sir.
Trip, my wife and I have been watching for a while and love your stuff. One note, we are concerned with your daily salt intake. I know you're diet conscious, but, should maybe consider that as part of your diet configuration.
