Thanks. I love driving Hughes Landing Road between Hwys 41 and 62. Of course weather can be a big factor. Wise to have a chainsaw handy too as we often encounter fallen trees.

Sadly, i was not prepared and i only drive a 2wd Kia Optima :/ Saturday i ended up on Smith Lake rd just above Weslemkoon lake and it ended up changing from a logging road to an ATV trail, which i foolishly decided to traverse several kilometers before realizing i made a big mistake. In my defense, i was hoping that it would come back out to a proper road after a bit, since it was a long way to go back. I definitely need a truck. Haha

Hello I was wondering if the launch you are talking about is good for motor boats ? I have a 14’ fishing boat and I pull it with a Hyundai Accent so I need a pretty solid boat launch !
Hello again! I am guessing the launch is on the unpaved road! Shrader lake road I believe! Is there a sign saying it is a boat launch and also camping and picnic? I think I remember a sign at the shrader lake turn off but I thought it was shrader lake launch ! Is this the right one or is it much further up that dirt road ? Any identifying signs or landmarks at the turn for the boat launch ? TIA !
@@rondechambeau7192 It is definitely off Hughes Landing Road. I think you are referring to Sheldrake Lake Road? It's not that one. There is no signage (that I've seen) for the launch area. Your best bet is to look in Google Earth. N 44.846251° W 77.288919°

Guess you were lucky because of the time of year ! Thanks again and I believe there is a public launch on the other side ! I plan on going up to check all the launch sites soon ! @@rondechambeau7192 According to the "CROWN LAND USE POLICY ATLAS" for Ontario it shows that the launch is Crown Land. I often check that site out to determine if where I'm going is Private or Crown. Very, very handy tool.
No there is a side road off Hughes Landing that takes you right to the lake. It's about 1 km in length. The turn is about 27.8kms from the western end of Hughes Landing Rd.

There's room there for quite a few cars but most times there only one or two there and frequently none! The islands are only a 1.5km paddle to the south-west.

Yes it should be good for a 14 footer. I've seen many people do it. It's not a cement ramp and it isn't too steep.
