Consider: the hand dog is absolutely gonna raid all the cupboards and leave all the doors open and unlocked at night and just ruin your life. But the cat will ruin your sense of self and mental stability so its a toss up
Heh, I don't have any sense of self or mental stability to ruin so Face Cat clinches it! Although, whenever Hand Dog needs to go outside, he can just let himself out.

I feel like Hand Dog (as horrifying as it is) is less of a crime than Face Cat. Face Cat can’t clean itself if it has a human mouth.
Well, Persians can't clean themselves either, they have to have regular groomer visits. Hairless cats also can't clean themselves and need to be bathed at least weekly. Hand dog comes with bad quality of life bc it has to walk on hands, which is not what human hands are meant for, so it will undoubtedly have serious health problems in the near future.

Imagine going for a "Shake!" trick on Hands Dog, and it gives you a solid vice-like "Uncle" grip. How fucking unnerving would that be. Or what if it starts trying to pet you back, now that it has the delicacy and dexterity to do so?
Christ I wish I hadn't read this. Our dog already tries so hard to pet us. He sucks at it and just hits us with his paws cause he doesn't have the finesse, the dexterity. But oh my God if he had hands he would do it *all the time*

They're ignoring the fact that Hand Dog only has human hands, not human arms. Its limited dog joints are going to severely limit its capacity for mischief and/or murder.

Consider: Dogs, expecially Goldens as dispalyed in the animation, are needy and stronger than they look. Imagine a dog with hands holding on to you, not letting you go, wanting you to stay and play ball, petting you back, touching you weirdly because is dog and has no sense of where not to touch.
I would much rather have an independend cat with a face even if that could talk. I imagine it like the CGI faces in Cats so that it is not just a fleshy skin face but rather a furry face. I would be fine with that more than with a needy, touchy, space invading hand-dog
This animation has single-handedly made face cat not only the lesser evil, but, in fact, a preferable option. You hold great power in your art.

Plus I would love a cat that could talk back _so_ much. It’s like a free friend who is forced to listen to and respond to your rambles.
Bonus points if it’s a sphinx cat because I think having a human face poking out of the fur and/or covered in fur would be so uncomfortable to see.
Either way hand dog is terrifying to me, human hands do _not_ go on dog, that’s literally so scary.
What truly scares me is the innocence of the dog paired with the horrors that have been forever inflicted on it. I know for a fact I would feel immense guilt everyday of my life for bringing it into the world to suffer.
I actually would’ve picked face cat if thinking about the prompt on my own, but the animation makes it so goddamn unsettling. Hand dog all the way. At least I will die by the hands of something cute rather than my own as a result of collapsing sanity

consider: since face cat most certainly has a human tongue, it cannot groom itself. if you do not take adequate care of face cats coat, you might have to explain this atrocity to a groomer

I think I'd go with facecat because looking weird is easier to deal with than something that can open doors, gates and lids. Handdog is a lot more like dealing with a 2-year-old except instead of mentally aging as it gets older, it just learns how to undo childproof locks. It becomes an cat and mouse game of replacing locks vs. solving locks.
I just wanna point out... this hits different in a post Cats (2019) world.
Having a cat with a human face would be somewhat traumatic, I'm sure, but getting to have a pet who can speak is great. Although realistically, if it's also still just a cat, it will still have cat-level intelligence, so it will either have toddler speech (no. Mine. Food. Door.) or just "meow" or primal screeches that mean something to the cat brain. Though he said it can speak, which I will take to mean it at least has toddler speech, and since this is a magical hypothetical situation in which a cat has a human face, I choose to believe it can communicate in full sentences to me. Add to it being a cat, and yeah, cat with human face wins over dog.
Though, raccoons are basically cats with hands, and I love raccoons. The dog thing isnt too far off... but again no, dogs are too hyper, would definitely get into the cabinets and peanutbutter and break into the neighbors house

this is one of my favorite bits and your animatic is so so so good (AS ALWAYS) but i cannot stop fixating on how small you draw griffin in light of the recent shmanners episode where travis reveals that griffin is actually taller than him
He just has that Little Guy Energy which is not in any way dependent on his physical height
It's the Arin from Game Grumps effect. No matter how tall he really is every animator forever is charged with making him the littlest one no matter what

Really it comes down to personality. Is the hand dog a good natured reasonably smart animal, or is it like my old dog Macca, a scarily smart thieving menace who loved to dig in rubbish bins and steal from people and generally get up to mischief? Because if Macca with hands, I'm going with face cat. The shenanigans he got up to without hands were bad enough.

Yep, he was some kind of kelpie mix (some german shep/staffy? maybe?). He'd also lived as a stray for 6 months before a friend of ours caught him and we ended up with him, so that combo made him a very "interesting" animal
As someone who had a period in life where my maternal parental unit was fostering tikes, I know there are like a billion implements with the sole purpose of "childproofing" your house because the foster people required it. Just "childproof" your house, buy gloves for your dog so they can comfortably-ish walk around without TOO much issue, and keep everything potentially ingestible really high up. Boom, now you don't have to live in the Cats (2019) movie. I'm not quite sure that dogs would have too much of an existential crisis over having human hands. They have other, better things to have an existential crisis over if Bunny the poodle is any indicator lol

While I don't think a dog would kill me, since all pups I've had have been more than loyal, but the mailman is done yo, he'd be dead so quick. And that's not completely good.
I feel like if Face Cat can talk, he can just be your friend/roommate. Who knows what Hand Dog will do.
Hand dog pros:
- dog can finally pet you back (dogs already try to do this, because they like being pet and think you will too)
- "shake" got even more impressive
- can teach dog to play videogames
Cons of hand dog:
- you can no longer contain dog by closing doors
- dog will learn to use the can opener, eat all of its food in one sitting
- probably still won't carry its own poop bags
- will absolutely use hands to unbuckle leash so it can chase that one other dog it can't stand
Pros of face cat:
-cat with mobile brows will be extra expressive, you will be able to tell what it's thinking more easily
- hilarious cat expressions, but a human face making them
-internet viral sensation
Cons of face cat
- cat will have trouble cleaning itself with a flat human face (and, uh, the places that face has to go in the process...)
- cats also try to pet us back, but cats do it by rubbing their faces on you.
- still stares at you when you're sitting on the toilet, but with a human face now
- will be mistaken for some type of weird monkey, which leads to issues such as "do you have a licence for that monkey" and "what sort of irresponsible buffoon owns a monkey as a pet, especially one just free roaming their house?"

See I'm not even a dog person but I feel like most dogs have less of a capacity for sinister evil than cats. If you gave human hands to one of those super chill dogs breeds.... I feel like it would be okay and also you could teach it very silly tricks.

Hand dog would be such a good boy, he would never shoot you. All I see is some hand based hijinks, and a gentle hand you can hold onto in a time of need.

Face cat is objectively correct. Hand dog has been gifted too much power to do a mischief, and while face cat is unsettling, I actually think having a cat that emotes in a human way would make caring for and understanding your cat much easier, allowing you to be the best owner you can be.

Why do they assume hand dog is a bad dog? Maybe is good boy and just wants to hug you and hold hands. I'd bring up the "is it like furry anthro hands or straight up fleshy furless human hands?" Because that's also important. Personally I'd pick hand dog :P

Hand dog not only cannot be trusted not to make a menace of itself, it will develop health problems because human hands aren't meant to be walked on. Face cat, however, can emote and even communicate verbally with its owner. Plus, I'd pay through the nose for a cat that looked like Hugh Jackman.

What if facecat can speak but not cat noises. A proper conversation with one wouldn’t work because the only vocalisations they can say are morbid facts in a tv presenter voice or siri voice. “your cat just told me that we’re all going to die” “yeah that just means it wants food”.

Hand dog has more of a chance at developing arthritis, carpal tunnel and other hand injuries/conditions.
Imagine if hand dog stepped on glass- for paws its already so painful, but a hand bearing the weight of an at least 50 pound pup getting pierced by glass is gonna be awful. I love dogs- knowing that hand dog wouldnt go out of its way to terrorize me would be a relieving thought. I could get a nice shoulder massage. They can help me open pickle jars too.
Work gloves would be necessary for walking your hand dog or even just protecting their skin...but even that comes with drawbacks.
However...face cat...I keep thinking about its human eyes glowing in the dark beside my door, it asking me my name, for food, letting me know its litter box needs a change. Considering cats also go crazy around 3 AM I'd be terrified. But..if face cat wanted to cuddle and be there for me when im sad, i wouldnt mind it.
Acne is something to worry about and idk if they vomit hair balls considering they cant groom with their human tongues. So grooming and skin care would be the owners responsibility.
Plus? They can wear makeup ;).

does cat with human face start with an infant's face and if so, does the face age at a normal human rate (i.e. if the cat lives to 20, it'll have the face of a 20 year old human) or does it age at the rate of the rest of the cat's body (like with the concept of dog years)?
