Thank you so much for the encouragement! Sadly not improving, but a combination of intravenous and oral immunosuppressant meds have plateau'ed things for the moment. One keeps truckin' along. Thanks for watching from the other half of the world!
Thanks for watching! Re the glove: Unfortunately, I have an autoimmune disease called dermatomyositis, which has given me lots of skin and joint swelling in my hands. Also have lots of sores and ischemic spots on my finger tips which has made fretting and plucking very painful. So to get around it, I wear a glove mostly for pain control as it sort of cushions the impact and abrasion from string contact. Certainly not cool looking, but it's gotten me sort of able to play my instruments again. Playing stamina is a small fraction of what it used to be, but I take what I can get these days. Here's a link for a video I made on these gloves should it be of interest to you: ua-cam.com/video/OQcV8KDUqlg/v-deo.html
In this video, they were Thomastik Infeld flats. One of my favourite flatwounds. But for the contemporary series, they barely fit and were very difficult to get the E string on (too thick for the tiny tuner hole) so I don’t recommend them for non-German Hofners. Thanks for watching!
Being a short scale, it might not have the same high freq ‘ping’ like a Chris Squire-type tone, but with the right EQ, you can probably get close. For a Lemmy-type sound, it’ll be getting the distortion/overdrive sound right. Roundwounds probably essential there! Thanks for watching!
Probably not convincingly. Maybe with rounds, but it’ll lack that high end click. Having said that, one’s tone is limited only by one’s imagination. Thanks for watching!
I would say, don't let the genre define or limit what instrument you can play. If you like the instrument, it feels good in your hands and you play well on it, do it and make music with it! Let your ears be the judge. It only becomes an issue when somebody is hiring you to play or record. Then it comes down to pleasing the artist or producer.
(Heavy) rock on! Nice trick of putting the octave shift after the overdrive
Thanks, man!
Hey Jonathon, I like your channel. I'm also a short scale bass enthusiast. Keep up the good work brother! Wes
Thank you so very much for watching, commenting and supporting the channel!!
Another great video🤘 I'm new to the world of bass, but this sound you made is crazy sounds like a whole new guitar
Thanks so much for supporting my new channel!
@@jonathanwong458music didn't know there was an old channel
Re-launched end of February 2023 with current bass-focused content! Very few uploads prior to that
The sounds were amazing out of this bass. Did not expect these sounds (I own an ignition beatle bass with labella flats).
I didn’t expect it either!!
Thanks for watching!
I hope your health is improving Jonathan. Take care. Good luck from New Zealand.

Always well played parts, unusually nicely produced audio. Interesting content. My favourite online "bass" guy..
Ahh, you’re so kind! Thank you for the encouragement and for watching! You’ve made my day!
I think the Gretsch Short-scale G2220 Bass, would be good for Rock.
Yes it would! Looks pretty good too. I made a pair of videos on that Gretsch. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Paul McCartney approves of this Message. He will probably tour with this next year, at like 80 years old.
The guy’s a machine! Thx for watching!
Hi. Whats the brand of the strings? Thanks

But can it slap/funk??
Ha! Rockabilly slap ….maybe…Marcus style? Nope. Finger style funk, perhaps. String spacing is pretty tight. Thx for watching and commenting!
I need to see if this can sound like a rickenbacker cause those are expensive. please plat motorhead

Can i play metal with this bass?
Probably not convincingly. Maybe with rounds, but it’ll lack that high end click.

It’s the contemporary series! I have taken the pickguard off. Thx for watching!
