When winding the bobbin, I don’t snip the thread (when secure on the bobbin), I just keep holding it and it breaks off after a while.
This video is a great instruction for visual learners - very clear and concise, friendly, but without all the rabbiting on that drives most of us mad.

Yes! You can absolutely let the thread snap itself. I'm so glad you found the video helpful! ❤

Likewise. Thread need first, to go through the little hole under the first tension disc. Also FYI, when threading the machine use all three holes in the little bar to right of tension disc IF you are having trouble with sewing tension, otherwise just use first and last holes leaving the middle one unused.

On my TL-18 the thread should go thru the hole first and then around the discs. Also, the bobbin is not fully installed until you press it in firmly and hear the loud click it makes when in place.

I’m so confused! It seems like there are at least 3 different ways to wind the bobbin represented in 2 videos and the manual. I probably would just go with one of them but I’ve had a problem with the bobbin thread not coming up. So I tried a different winding method and the bobbin wouldn’t come out of the bobbin case. I eventually got it out and have decided to start again at square 1. I’ve had the machine for a week and it was working great until suddenly it wasn’t. Frustrating!! Since there are these different ways of winding the bobbin all from people who work for Juki, I just wonder how could it matter?
