This series has been an absolute pleasure to watch and relax to. Not artificially dramatic, you had a laugh along the way and the cinematography has been on point as always. I have been watching it at very weird hours looking after Bill and it has been a pleasure. Sam walked in and watched about 20 minutes and her takeaway was “wow, they are really normal and cool. I like them”. Looking forward to catching up properly in Radelaide
We really appreciate the comment Harry! If we can help out with the odd hours of a newborn then the episodes are worth doing ;) although I thought you might be a bit worried that we are swooping in as the bestest camp cooks on the block with the most recent addition of Matt’s camp cooking show? Very keen to catch up in Adelaide and the the drive to Perth.
@@OverlandTravellers I have been meaning to talk to you about Matt’s cooking show. Are you trying to ruin me? How am I supposed to compete with that sort of Michelin star quality?
Teddy you have nailed it. Bushfires are confronting. Last October I went to Eastern Victoria and was amazed at regrowth. Keep up the great content. You do great work.
Great video and trip! Did you actually drive the sandtracks / -dunes in low gear? We were instructed to always use high gear. Not bitching, just want to get ourselves prepared / educated for our next 4WD trip in Australia.
Thank you again for refreshing my own memories of the HAY , Big Red, and Birdsville portions of my own journey across the Simpson. Looking forward to the next chapter.
Congratulations The old J4 series are the best. And that feeling when you reach the top, indescribable! Love to watch your videos. Thanks for taking us along. Looking forward for more. Greetings from Germany
Holy cow!!! I just realised I saw you guys at glasshouse today doing the oricom shoot! I was with my son & we walk passed you guys. I quit could pick it but, I had the feeling I’ve seen you guys before… and here you are! Just sat down to watch UA-cam & you popped up 😃👍
That was so enjoyable! Smiled from ear to ear watching Elsie get up and over. I may have missed it but what are the add on arm rests/drink holders you guys are using there? I think my wife would love one for our BJ40. Maybe a good birthday gift for her lol.
Very cool and well done vid. Typical hi std captures looks so good in HD. Epic big red lessons in low low, and thats how we'd have to do it. ps, my fav moments ..at 9min 12secs ..the quiet of the sunrise you captured.
How where the flys 🪰 I noticed in the vids they seem terrible. As someone that can't stand flys this is the biggest problem I have with outback travel.
Brilliant - could feel the excitement here in Vic! Matt, I believe you should not be drinking the Fuel Doctor..best put in the Fuel tank :) Maybe there is somewhere outside you can store it (spot in or near the spare?). I think I'm going to find a spot for all vehicle liquids and grease somewhere outside the vehicle...(mine a s/w too). Yours was a valuable lesson!
They were amazing. But it took me a day to really dial them in to make them as comfortable as possible. To be honest they have ruined sitting in other seats now 😅
A great episode. I look forward to next weeks wrap up with all the info... Slow and steady always wins the race. So best you secure that cabinet down and maybe make a box or cabinet for your fuel doctor and other fluids to be stored so they do not move about and why is the fridge not tied down also ??
There is NOTHING like the exileration of cresting big red for the first time Don’t worry it took me a few attempts to get my troopie over the first time Welcome to the club !!! And to roll up and park outside the Birdsville pub ... That’s special
Yeah it’s such a good way to finish off the trip. I wouldn’t want to do it the other way and start with big red. And to top it off there is a pub after the dune what more could you want!
Excellent video guys. A great series loved it but a sense of loss. We had been programmed to leave NSW 18 Sep to do the Simpson, but hey, planning is all there so next year.
an old jack absolom trick for your fuel was a cup of metho in the fuel tank before a fill, gets rid of water in fuel and cheaper than fuel doctor. loved your videos. safe travels..
Superb video! Well done. So well filmed and edited, thoroughly enjoyed this. Dunes should be climbed slowly, no need for speed as you've found. You did the 47 proud!

Agreed...great work guys...feels very practical, unpretentious and relevant
I love the pace of your videos, relaxing and a pleasure to watch. Carry on
A Mulgo pop top conversion for the Elsie would be awesome for you guys.
Maybe one day!
Big Red tick that off the bucket list CHEERS GUYS
Yeah it’s a nice one to tick off :)

@@OverlandTravellers not sure what happened here my comment was for a different UA-cam channel, Unwinding Roads. I will check out your adventures.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this series. Thank you.
No worries glad you enjoyed it!
I was watching at home and literally cheering out loud with you when you made it to the top of Big Red. So exciting.
It was definitely a moment when Elsie got up! After all we have been through with the car.
That old girl is taking you everywhere
Yeah pretty amazing where it can go even after 40 years :)
What a great journey to do. And you did it so well 👍
You should have attempted big red at 2:30 in the arvo.when the sand is very soft.
No thanks haha we wouldn't have made it
Great episode Holly & Matt 😀😀😀
Thank you!
Bloody love this, wholesome content 🤙🏼🍻🍻
Great episode. Good to see Tractor taking on the big red.
Thanks :) yeah can’t stop the tractor
Great video and trip! Did you actually drive the sandtracks / -dunes in low gear? We were instructed to always use high gear. Not bitching, just want to get ourselves prepared / educated for our next 4WD trip in Australia.
No we were in 4 high pretty much the whole way, only really needed low for big red :)
@@OverlandTravellers Many thx 😎
thank you for the beauty set video love the detail throughout
was a great joy watching all time
Cheers mate glad you’ve enjoyed it :)
What do ya reckon a hybrid caravan would go like on the Simpson? Looks soft and hard going! Love the videos guys
Unfortunately you’re not allowed (or not supposed) to tow on the madigan, I also think that’s the same for the rest of the Simpson.
@@OverlandTravellers Ah Spewing! see a lot of crew have done it. They must of got approval for it! thanks thanks guys!
Go you tyre pressures! You should make an instructional video about it!
Step 1: let all air out of tyres. 0 PSI
Step 2: engage tractor mode 🚜
@@OverlandTravellers What was the psi? 8?
Great clip as always guys, I love the Simmo and need to get back there too. Cheers Steve
Yep we can’t wait to go back
Adrian and Matt ordering their pub meals ...."We'll have the same as yesterday please"

Thanks mate! Yeah it’s a great way to end a trip climbing that dune :)
you used 20L just in the stop starting setting up video shots
Probably more, crazy, setting up a camera, driving past, drive back to get it... repeat
Yeah we might have made it! No fun videos though so worth it :)
Awesome series guys, Elsie is a beast!!! Look for the next video:)
Congrats on the crossing guys, incredible series!

@@OverlandTravellers cheers mate👍 (AFN bar ) great content by the way. Keep safe
What tyres you running on the 40 Epic vid sun up moon down congrats on Big Red
Falken wildpeak AT3 W :) awesome tyres loving them so far. Haven’t had a single issue with them.
@@OverlandTravellers Thanks they were on my short list before we hit the road next year all going well with Covid crap
Weeewww
Link for your little firepit cooker please?
It’s called the “Wolf and Grizzley fire safe fire pit”. Google that and make sure you get the Aussie website :)
That was so enjoyable! Smiled from ear to ear watching Elsie get up and over. I may have missed it but what are the add on arm rests/drink holders you guys are using there? I think my wife would love one for our BJ40. Maybe a good birthday gift for her lol.
They are from “one stone” armrests. It’s actually for a 70 series but with only slight modifications they fit the 40 door. Absolutely love them.
I actually didn’t think they were too bad. We have been in places where they were far worse. I didn’t notice them on this trip anyway.
Fantastic video! Did the spilt fuel doctor cause any problems? I had some leak in the tub of my Hilux and it started to soften the paint.
None got onto the body itself it was pretty annoying to clean though
Brilliant - could feel the excitement here in Vic!

Well I blame the makers of fuel doctor it just looks so delicious

So this is the build that inspire Andrew White's new Troopy build. Video editing while on the road. Nice.
Haha I like the thought but I think he was filming and editing before I was born!
@@OverlandTravellers TBH your video is well edited and enjoyable to watch. That 2H motor never fail to surprise as well.

That’s a shame mate but you’ll get there soon!
Moccona coffee, VB, out of fuel and 4 weeks to get across the Simmo. Cool trip, but better decisions need to be made.
Let’s look on the bright side, it could have been blend 43, the thirst was hard earn’t, 4 days ;) ……. But yeah fuel was dumb 😅
@@OverlandTravellers and the vehicle decision is on point!!
You know it's time to stop drinking coffee when the international roast comes out.
an old jack absolom trick for your fuel was a cup of metho in the fuel tank before a fill, gets rid of water in fuel and cheaper than fuel doctor. loved your videos. safe travels..
I actually have his camp cookbook in the troopy…. It’s a classic. Really keen to do the “lightning ridge galah soup”
A 40 series will take you everywhere you want! slowly…. But it’ll get there regardless of the conditions!!
Bloody Awesome video..
Thank you!
Awesome video series guys. Tractor mode works great. Congrats on conquering Big Red.
Thanks mate!
Thank you enjoyed that very much 👍🍻
Awesome mate glad you did :)
Awesome guys, loved the trip. Big red looks epic
Yeah it definitely looks bigger in real life! Great fun though
Another beautiful episode. 🍻

Thanks duncan! Coming from a 40 troopie legend that means a lot.
Loved the simspon series, your videos are great.
We recently completed the same trip, absolutely loved it.
Cheers.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Good job on Big Red guys! - You do need to find somewhere safe to keep the fuel doctor though😁😁
Yep definitely need a spot for it haha
Full respect to that driving technique.
Low and slow 🚜
Nice guys. Loved the elation of doing big red in tractor mode!
Tractor all the way!
Awesome guys, slow and steady wins the race.
Keen to tune in for the wrap up vid 👌👌
Awesome it’s just a big sit down chat about the whole trip :)
love you work, pretty amazed that your cabinet and your fridge aren't tied down in anyway.
Yeah I know right
Very well presented series, we also have old vehicles and enjoy the fun driving them.
Thank you :)
Bloody Awesome Stuff, Good Onya getting up Big Red's most difficult track, what a notch in the belt that is
Yeah it really felt like an achievement after doing the madigan line…. It’s the best way to finish off the the trip before going to the pub
Any slower Matt and you would have been going backwards.....
I should have had a go in reverse
so you guys did make it !! I thought you we're still stuck from running out of fuel !
well that was a very good episode!! can't wait till next week's wrap up
Hey guys hope yah staying safe. How's the batteries holding up?
The Batteries are unreal! I’ll be doing a review on them soon 👍🏽 they have been invaluable this trip.
Anchor everything down, I did after my fridge came up off the floor.
Yeah I think I’ll be doing that 😅
Moral of the story..., full send isn't always the answer. Great job in getting Elsie up Big Red. 👍✊
Well….. I don’t know if first low is full send 😅
@@OverlandTravellers that’s my point. Going fast up isn’t always the best way. Sometimes 1st low is best (ie. going slow). 👍
@@HammerRocks ah sorry I misread that as full send is always the answer haha
