1 is the front-most rotor in the factory ignition system. It all depends on which ignitor on the distributor is wired to which coil. The ignitors are the black boxes on the distributor. The "Leading" ignitor is the one closest to the front of the trike and the "trailing" ignitor is the one pointing to the alternator. Probably just have the wires from the ignitors to the coils around the other way. Also for factory timing, the stud in the slot for the distributor ends up almost center but slightly to the right. As long as the distributor is stabbed correctly in relation to TDC. I'm sure you're farther along than in this video, but maybe it'll help a little.
Please make your own packed exhaust like the Colonel! Also, on my 83 fb, front rotor was rotor 1, top plugs were (T)railing, lower plugs were (L)Leading, check coil wiring!
Open exhaust rotary engines are definitely something best heard from a distance. You will quickly learn what kind of annoying noise it is if you have to be close without good ear protection for more than a minute.
I learned about running a 13b rotary with no exhaust when building my 89 fc3s. Ear bleeding loud. I had a very similar setup with a side draft weber. Run a little 2 stroke mix in with the the gas if you're going to be beating this thing up. Also, look out for bad ignitors if you get a no-start situation.
The disappointment/pleasent suprise someone would experience when looking for “rx7 drift” videos and accidentally stumbling across this would be amazing.
Hey guys when you end up building the exhaust for your rotary I heavily recommend doing some research because a rotary engine really likes a specific exhaust just like a two-stroke needs its pipe. For reference go to Angel motor sports a video titled how to make a loud RX seven exhaust that actually gains horsepower
hahahahah uhhh only requirements for the exhaust stainless or .120 wall because they run from 1000 to 1600° f most dudes run that shit straight out the hood
@@la_plata3588 Yeah but the smart guys realize you can tune them and get a lot more power refer to Angel motorsports or anybody who puts any serious effort into building a naturally aspirated rotary motor and a lot of straight out the hood also have a turbo in front of them which changes everything and the reason I mentioned it in the first place is grind hard don’t tend to really half ass anything so if you’re designing and building your own exhaust you may as well do it right

Sounds like a 2 stroke, would be really cool to build a pair of expansion chambers for the downpipes, proper vintage 2 stroke style with little shorty end silencers too
But it's a rotary, the expansion chambers on a 2-stroke serve a very important job with scavenging and must be tuned carefully. This rotary will sound great with just a pair of shorties on the end.
Hey guys it might be a good idea to put another filling port on the other side of the frame to get rid of the air pocket that is probably going to get trapped there
That's the least of my concerns with this cooling system. You couldn't pay me to ride that thing after it's been running for more than 3 minutes. Cracked weld = skin grafts. Crash the trike = skin grafts. Pressure relief system fails creating giant trike-sized boiling pipe bomb = skin grafts and shrapnel.

Sounds like the leading and trailing plugs are still reversed. So there are 2 plugs per rotor, leading is the primary and the trailing should fire a few degrees after the leading. Trailing plugs are to help direct the ignition in the direction of the rotors rotation.
Pretty sure you just fried the side and apex seals in the poor little rotary. If I'm not mistaken there is supposed to be a strict idle break in.
