Mario Ancona (1860 - 1931) was one of the most beautiful baritone voices in history. Once again we hear perfectly balanced vocal registration, clear vowels, balanced chiaroscuro, and very little constriction. This is a true bel canto voice based on the true bel canto principles of balanced vocal registration. Notice how he keeps the chiaro in the passaggio and the top. Many today get woofy in that part of the voice.

Such a delicacy of tone, such elegance and taste... The Golden Age produced amazing singers in vast quantities. Now we have to put up with hacks. I'm a fan of Tito Schipa and the tenor schools, but Ancona was a wonderful baritone with a great range. Thanks for posting this great recording!
