George Carlin is right up there with Richard Pryor. Standups that were gifted with extreme humor and extreme intelligence. They were kinda unofficial rivals in their primes. In fact, on one of Carlin’s specials, he touched on it. He said “In 1976, Richard had a heart attack, then a couple of months later, I had a heart attack. 1980, Richard set himself on fire, an I’m like ‘F**k that, I’ll just have another heart attack.’”

Not sure I actually like Richard Pryor. He popularized the 'nigger' word, yes the hard 'r' not the soft 'a'. I don't think that was a good idea because it's a version of racism, where 'blacks and say it but whites cannot now'.. and if you have a set of rules for one race and a different set of rules for another, it's racist.

George Carlin was a Comedic genius. He brought real to the stage a long long time ago. We used to hide the cassette tapes we had when I was a kid. (70s, 80s, 90s) . He was a pioneer for comedians that appeared on television. The bit "Seven Dirty Words You Can't Say on Television" is because of a Supreme Court case that happened because of George Carlin. Groundbreaking. He was always the guy that I wished was my World History teacher in High School. Having fun watching your reactions to him. His comedy is pretty timeless because the stuff he talks about are problems and controversial still today.

George performs what is referred to as "observational comedy." And a lot of comics use the same format. But George focuses in on what he considers to be the most absurd hypocrisies of the social structure and culture we live in, and then mocks us for these absurdities. And he frames it almost philosophically, so the end result is he's teaching the audience to think while forcing them to laugh at themselves for their own absurd backward logic and thinking.
He's been referred to alternately as a "philosophical comedian," or a "comic philosopher." But ultimately, he makes you laugh at yourself while teaching you everything wrong with the world we live in. His style is legendary and unique to him. Another comic that does this very well - through an angry persona, rather than a philosophical one - is Lewis Black.

That said, the bit you watched previously is equally great to this one - the difference between them is That one was the Closer of the special, while This was the Opening of a special, so he just performed each routine with the Appropriate amount of energy it needed depending on whatever parameters he saw Fit to drive his point home.

One can also do harmless comedy which is fine but I do think we also need comedians like Carlin who make us think why there is such a thing as a death penalty or why some of us are so against abortion in some cases. You can see the same type of comedy that Carlin did with Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert for example.

From the vast topics like pro-life, language, religion, voting, etc. He for me is an example of a white person trying to be honest without saying it's white supremacy . Many white people aren't honest about the power white supremacy is and how it works. Lastly for the white people in the chat. What does it mean to be a white person?
