What are you thoughts on this $25 pedal? Would you buy a guitar pedal that costs $25?
It feels like many YT reviews don’t understand the purpose of this pedal. It’s an inexpensive clone of a SansAmp GT2, and as such it’s meant to make a digital amp sound like some classic tube amps. If you follow the suggested settings in the GT2 manual, into a digital amp with clean settings, then you’ll see what it’s meant to do. Using it as a replacement for a Boss or TS-style overdrive pedal will definitely produce unsatisfactory results!
And of course it’s cheap plastic, it’s a $25 clone of an expensive pedal! But for the home player, it can open up a whole new world of sounds.
You are 100% correct. I was hoping to have it be more of a driving sound of a guitar rig. But the more I've played it it, I can absolutely see it's spot in the marketplace. And when you take a step back and realize it's only $25, that's when things all come into view and for $25 it's not that bad at all.

I thought you are kidding when you say it's a clone of GT2 - I thought it was GDI21 that is the clone. However, double checking on the GT2 and I realized that the original atcually have no ground lift/XLR.
@@JestersageYou would be right. The TM300 is doing a decent job, but the GDI21 is the way to go for the hard emulation of the GT2, and if it has an XLR and ground lift, that's fn awesome.
If the pedal wasn’t so inexpensive you would love it. Guitar snobs always dis cheap gear, even if it’s amazing. This pedal is amazing.
I think it definitely has a sweet spot, and you cannot beat the price. I just feel they could make it smoother around the edges. BUT, with that said, it's only $25!!! So bang for buck, I don't think you can do much better.

This pedal has a fabulous overdrive sound. You are totally wrong. It whoops the ass off the Dunlop ocd. It really does. It provides a thick chewy classic rock overdrive that matches my Marshall dsl when it’s cranked through my clean channel.Now I don’t use it on when the Marshall is cranked as I don’t need to, but for low level practice it is stunning. I’ve tried them all, and this pedal is the best by a mile. I love it. I don’t need an attenuator.
If it works great for you, then fantastic! Hard to beat the price point! Just isn't my cup of tea for guitar tones.
"It definitly..." speak for yourself champ, for me the tube amp modeler is a banger, it all depends on the soujd you're looking for.
@@rafaelcabralwilliams it’s got a high def Marshall tube sound and if you put it though a dsl clean circuit it will blow your socks off.
Not so good on modelling amps though but through a valve clean channel….. wow!
I've had one of these pedals on my desk for a couple of years now. For use with bass, on the clean tweed setting. It sounds great.
I've loved using it on bass more than anything else!
Ola Englund did a review of this pedal, the first version of this that was named V Tone GDI21 and it sounded really great, did you watched it? Which other cheap distortion pedal do you recommend?
I feel like any of the low end Boss pedals would be a better choice. They are almost 3x as expensive... but cheap in the grand scheme of things. And I haven't watched that video! I need to do that!
I agree with the California and Brit sounds but that tweed really beefs up my tone. I’ve played it through 5 different amps but I love this thing.
I think it sounds good. I think appearance is big for some ppl so that’s what a lot of good pedals get passed over.
I think you're right. I'm actually using it on my pedal board right now as a backup and it's working just fine.
The point of this pedal was to model the pedal Kurt used for distortion,probably why you dont like it so much,shouldve played it in that style

Maybe its your guitar or other system.This pedal sounds great .I have been playing for almost 30 years and i use this pedal connected directly to audio interface for recording sometimes and add some rev and eq when needed. I also have amplitude 4 and a real twin I. bet you can't tell the if itsn a real tube or not when recorded.Most of my musician friends can't (who actually play real tubes )
Its an amp modeller,not a overdrive/ distortion pedal.youre not supposed to connect it to a fractal nor another amp modeller.
Checkout my short i used it there with a little rev , connect to an audio interface directly to a reaper Daw with a touch of no name free vst classoc reverb ,out to samson monitor and capture the vid and sound with a cheap android phone.And a cheap(by your standard )Mexican strat with alnico V stock pup.
I bought the Behringer HM300 heavy metal distortion pedal awhile back. Just on a whim because of the price. I was not a fan of the tones I got from it. Now I have a boss DS-1 and I love that distortion pedal. Now I'm looking for a noise gate. Do you use a noise gate pedal? Any suggestions on a good noise gate?
Yeah, that Boss DS-1 is a much better pedal than the Behringer stuff. As for noise gates, I've used the Boss NS-2 FOREVER and love it. It's seen hundreds of stages, and thousand of hours of play time and it works like the day I got it.
'Bout the behringer heavy distortion,the boost knob saturates low end too much,at the minimum is tighter,same with the bottom knob,ts,klon or eq pedals help it a lot.This tm300 has a very tight heavy crunch on the britt on clean with the drive past noon right of the box.
These are fantastic beginner pedals. You get to experiment with different sounds and just have fun without spending a bunch of money. Especially when you’re just starting and perfecting your technique comes far before finding your tone
Perfectly said! If I were starting out I'd buy all of these pedals. In the end, they aren't as good as higher-end pedals.... but, $25 vs $150+? A lot of bang for buck!
Can I recommend that people bot blindly follow the advice to buy fewer, cheaper pedals. I have around15 pedals, ranging in price from 25 to about 75 quid. Anything towards the top end of that price range is second hand from Ebay, I collect EHX but I rarely buy them new.
Some of the cheap pedals are amazing, some of the expensive pedals are just as good second hand, that's why they're expensive new, AND several cheap pedals combined can make some crazy cool sounds.
Some advice is so common, like buying expensive or not buying at all until you can play really well without a pedal, and it ruins the fun. I absolutely love having the variety of 15 pedals and the way I play has been changed by owning pedals in a way that I personally think made me a better player in a few weeks than years of clean tone practising blues scales.

I can say that at this moment I using this pedal on my board for my B Rig and it's honestly working exactly how I need it. So for me, at this moment, totally worth the money.
If I wanted to run this straight to a cab would I need to run it with a power amp?
Yes. You'd need the power amp to power the cab. If that's what you wanted to do, you'd have the following signal chain: Guitar > Pedal > Power Amp > Cab
use guitar plugs of jack leads to get to the battery.

I have both, but I haven't tried running them together. I bet you could fine tune them to get some rad sounds tho!
i run my ds1 with it, it removes alot og boxiness and really beefs it up if its lacking
Seems like this pedal is too hip for "some" users. This is a great sounding and versatile pedal. I have one on two performance pedalboards. One one board, it sits next to a Fulltone GT-500, and it is used just as often as the Fulltone. Zero complaints from me or the band
which adapter is used?
This pedal has 1, 1/4" TS in. And 1, 1/4" TS out.
Nonsense. It's great for guitar. Really brightens up a dark humbucker. Makes a great boost. Marshall in a push button. It ain't gonna break just being used on your pedal board. And. . . who uses batteries? edit: I use it after a compressor/sustainer; without the compressor, it does seem kinda wild and hard to tame.

Thank you for the kind words! If it were me, I'd try and treat it like an actual amp. So I'd run it last in the chain. Maybe with a lower gain setting and then use the other pedals when you're wanting that grit!

Dude. You've gotta run it into the effects loop return. Don't run it thru a tone stack. Get the cheapest used 12" solid state combo amp you can find and this pedal. Maybe throw a vintage 30 in the cheap used combo amp. Then run the Tube Modeler straight into the effects return. It works great 👍🏻you like nirvana? This is a clone of the sansamp Kurt used.

If you us a switcher the build on Behringer casing and mechanics is irrelevant. Drop your new iPhone and a Behringer pedal and see which one breaks first bouncing off a concrete floor. According to Andertons return of these pedals is not one pedal more than any brand at any price. For the record all the Behringer pedals are made just like an iPhone in their 100 million dollar high tech state of the art facilities. Where they also make TC Electronic pedals :-) As for modeling cheap chips made for door bells and childrens talking toys can't cut it. They are a novelty and a toy. On the other hand the Behringer octave fuzz in a blindfold test will be picked as the better Fuzz compared to those that are literally 10 times more money in as often as 2 out of 3 times. I took the test on a bet. Yes, It was I who paid for the beer :-(
