    Great video John. Love that pedal along with the rest behringers pedals. They’re all gems in my books.

    I use to have a little behringer vintager amp which was really my go to practise amp when I was in a band. I was so pleased with it I went and took it along to Mansons to tell me exactly what the British amp model was. They told me this was a Marshall plexi being pushed. Sadly it passed away after many years of use.
    I’ve purchased this pedal because I feel the sound is back again.

    Thanks for this review John. Been looking at this pedal for a bit, got a couple of Behringer pedals already, as a beginner I like them. Will definitely add this to my budget pedal board. Cheers. Love the videos, keep up the good work.

    Don't think this pedal gets enough love. Just discovered that you did a review of it. I got one about a year and a half back while on a spree for various amp modelling style pedals. I use it for the Marshall gain setting and it's just as good as other pedals that claim to do just the Marshall sound. Then I did exactly what you said, bought a second one so I could get the high gain MESA sound with the touch of a switch. It gets as close to a John Sykes tone as I've ever been able to get. The value here is out of this world.
    Recently there was Boss pedal came out with IRs that covered multiple amps and cabs in a single box. On a budget this Behringer will give you similar features for a fraction of the price. So even if it isn't your last stop, it should definitely be part of the journey if you're searching for a suitable amp tone for what you need.

    I dig the intro. Well done 👍

    I've had the pedal for like 3 years and, after extensive tweaking, I also use it in the Tweed setting to improve my overall sound because it really brings out clean tones nicely, I think that alone makes it worth it because of course you can get the distortions from other pedals, but it can also get you a nice crunchy tone and a heavier more metal sound as well if you spend time on it. Let's give credit where credit is due, Behringers are awesome for the sound and for that price, they are no brainers, no need to overspend on pedals unless you want to but you can get 4 or 5 Behringers for the price of one Boss or a Ts9 or the one that this is based upon. Same circuits as the expensive ones, only different casing and I have yet to see one break.

      Same man, I use a metal muff with the clean tweed setting. In fact, I can't even play without the modeler on because my amp sounds like trash without it now!

      Yeah it’s strange. I put it on tweet and then it makes a harsh DS-1 sound amazing.

    Got mine yesterday, will try it out later. I read somewhere that Behringer pedals are going to be re manufactured, not sure if that's true. There seem to be many of this one left in stock everywhere but others have disappeared. I wish I could get hold of The Reverb Machine, I got rid of mine because the switching was very unpredictable and when switched off the controls still affected the sound. It did have some killer sounds in it though.

  • @TJEvans98
    @TJEvans98 2 роки тому +1

    I do agree that the selection of clean, high gain, and hot need to have more impact when the "amp" is selected. Really, only the tweed selection shows the selected range of each mod. The brit and cali settings are more of a high gain, then higher gain, when you actually use the "gain" knob. There is really nothing "clean" about either of those amp settings.

    John, it might be of interest to compare this pedal with the similarly priced Behringer GD121 which is their' clone of the Tech 21 GT2 and which I seem to recall, does some rather decent clean tones and is less cluttered than the HM300, though it has a bigger footprint. BTW, I have a Behringer TU300 tuner from the same range as the HM300 and despite the fact that it is polycarbonate, okay plastic, it has stood up well to life on my standby board 13 years on. It's no TU-2 and probably wouldn't stand a tour of the nation but then at 65 neither would I, but it's certainly decent value in the VFM category methinks!

    It’s a clone (or based on) the tech 21 GT2. I have the Behringer GDI21 it’s the same pedal in a bigger box with the addition of an XLR and a ground lift.

    Great video, John! A question for you: where in a chain of pedals would you suggest putting something like this? Would you treat it as a drive/distortion pedal and stick it in early on, or put it more toward the end for overall sound shaping?

    • @JRobsonGuitar
      @JRobsonGuitar  2 роки тому +5

    I have a Behringer GM108 amp that I guess has the 'same' modeler than this pedal (but it does have a Mid knob). Well, in the British/Clean setting I can actually get a clean sound, and I'm using a LP100 Epiphone guitar, in other words, humbuckers...
    Ok, I have to use a very low level gain 1, 2, or 3, to get a clean sound, but it's fine. Since 5 you start to get a crunch sound, but not that ugly distorted sound you showed. In all cases, British is NOT a Vox tone, but more of a Marshall Plexi tone...
    So, may be the modeler units are different, but I'd bet that not too much. Unless they are, of course.
    In the case of the GM108 amp, the modeler is very fine, and very versatile for several tones.
    Just my two cents.

    Raising both bass and treble is the equivalent of lowering the mids. Clean tone is pedal off ;)
