This happened to my late '13 MBP. I hadn't even updated yet. Was still on 14.0. Only updated OCLP to 1.21, updated root patch in preparation for the upgrade and got stuck after restart. Tried everything. Ended up creating a new partition on the internal SSD, installing there using a Sonoma USB I'd already created, installing OCLP 1.3 and restoring to the new partition. Long process but worked for me.

Apple laptops are garbage after 2 years. I bought a brand new Mac book Pro back in 2009. It dies by 2011. However, the IMACs seem to last forever. I've restored older IMACs simply by installing Opencore's Sonoma on external SSD's. IMACs run fast and feel like new again. Restored two 21 inch 2015 Imacs, two 27 inch late 2012 and 2013 Imacs. I stay away from used Apple laptops!!!! Not worth the troubles.

My OS is on a 1T SSD and I have 8T storage. My old Canon printer no longer works with the new OS but it’s needing to be updated anyway. My other issue is that I have to press the power on button 5 or 6 times before I hear the chime and get the machine to boot. I think my power supply is about to go and needs replacing. A new used one is only $40 dollars. I will hold off until we see a patch for the new OS.

Thank you, Jessie for your help.

Amazing ! It worked with this magic of „shift+enter“ ! Thank you 🙏🏼! But what’s the explanation behind ?
It’s safe mode that doesn’t load all drivers
Thank you! Great video. Your instructions worked! :)

Thank you so much for your kind words! 🥰
WARNING!!! Following my previous comment, I should just say that if your updating an Early 2008 Mac Tower, you must be patient. Thanks to @JessieFlying I got there in the end. Absolutely boot in safe mode. Most importantly though, each stage does take an enormous amount of time. All in all its taken me three days to complete. Once leaving the update to run over night! Yes I did have to restart on occasions because it was stuck but most of the time when you think its stuck its just taking longer than you think.
So here I am. My beloved old mac has Ventura on it and is running splendidly with no loss of data.
A huge thankyou to @Jessiesflying and the Opencore team for enabling us to continue using these wonderful machines.
😊

open core patcher 1.2.0 is out. Works just fine on macbook pro 2013 from 14.0 to 14.1 just an hour ago.
Thx!

Booted into safe mode. Login screen showed up. But not restarting automatically.
You saved my life. Thank you
Oh man, I tried to use the Safe Mode method but the progress bar freezes halfway through. I’m all out of ideas. I was trying to run Sonoma 14.5 on a late 2013 iMac. 😊

I reached safe mode but the install do not continue after login. I launch the patch but at restart it keeps remaining at load stuck@@JessiesFlying edit : I deleted kextfiles under /Volumes/Macintosh HD/Library/Extensions except Highpoint and Softraid reboot and it finally boot ! thanks for the support. edit 2 : it worked once only, after root patches and reboot; the load stuck is still here. edit 3 : tried verbose mode to target issue, at the stuck point, the verbose mode quit to Apple logo and an empty progress bar.

Safe mode does not always work. You may have to boot from latest bootable snapshot to finish installation.
Already working on that video 😬
I didn't get stuck during the update and I was using the open core legacy 1.2.1. However, I couldn't login to my Apple account after everything was set up.
what was the error message?
Thanks for the amazing video
Thank you so much Jessie!
Your videos help a lot in this painful journey.
However I'm still missing the last step, booting without USB (9:40 in your video)
Although I installed Open Core to my internal drive, EFI is not showing up when I eject the USB and reboot.
It only works with USB. Any advice on what to do?
What Mac model? Does it show Apple boot selector?
@@JessiesFlying It's a MacBookPro11,1 from 2014. It shows the boot menu with my Macintosh HD and Bootcamp (for Windows), but not EFI Boot.
@@lisagunther3668 did you install OpenCore to your boot disk already?
@@JessiesFlying Yes, I used the "Build and Install Open Core" and then chose my Apple SSD and then EFI. Then Open Core asks me if I want to reboot, but if I do (and eject the USB), EFI boot is not showing up in the boot selector.
@@lisagunther3668 it seems something’s messed up due to windows… 🤔
encountered a problem installing the OS after downloading it. Although I successfully downloaded it, when I reached the step to select the local macOS installer, the window displayed 'Install macOS Sonoma (requires High Sierra)' in a faded color. I would appreciate your advice on this.
So what Mac model and macOS do you run
Thank you Jessie for your help.
I have a MacBook Pro (Retina 13-inch, Mid 2014). My macOS is the Unarchived version X 10.10.5. Do I need to upgrade to High Sierra before upgrading to Sonoma?
Your further assistance is appreciated.

@@davidlai7262 yes, it's always recommended to update to latest official macOS also to install latest firmware before installing unofficial macOS
Hey I just started the new update and I have the white background (I’m in safe mode) I open Opencore patcher and press post install root patch but it says everything is already installed even though I’m still having the background issue and slow performance, what should I do?
In safe mode the drivers are not loaded, that’s why there’s a white screen
You can avoid having to boot in safe mode by simply reverting root patches BEFORE UPDATING MacOS or OpenCore.
Not every time unfortunately
thank you so much ❤

Apple laptops are garbage after 2 years. I bought a brand new Mac book Pro back in 2009. It dies by 2011. However, the IMACs seem to last forever. I've restored older IMACs simply by installing Opencore's Sonoma on external SSD's. IMACs run fast and feel like new again. Restored two 21 inch 2015 Imacs, two 27 inch late 2012 and 2013 Imacs. I stay away from used Apple laptops!!!! Not worth the troubles.
I have 2 2011MCB pro laptops both with original battery and they work fine. I recently upgraded to SSD, 16gb Ram, and OCLP running ventura
Mh i don't get u my Mac book late 2008 is still working even the original battery still lasts 1.5 hours on Monterey

I'm just going to go and buy upto date iMac
You're going to have a lot of problems on the metal Mcs Intel CPU as well
Was able to revert to Mojave using shift
I tried to upgrade to Sonoma and my keyboard and mouse wouldn’t work. I had to drop back to the previous OS. I am on a 2009 5,1 dual 3.33, 48 gig ram, metal 8 gig Asus graphics card 590.
Did you use USB 2.0 hub? The USB drivers are not loaded during setup until root patches are applied
Hello Jessie, I followed your instructions but still don't have graphic support for MBP 11,4 mid 2015. after following your instructions in this video and the previous Sonoma installation video
Did you patch system by OpenCore Patcher? I had the same (white screen and slow motion mouse) plus problem with WiFi conection for OpenCore Patcher (computer had connection all the time, expect patcher) on Mac 11.5 (early Pro 2015). After installing patcher version 1.1 Patcher could connected to net and patch system perfectly.
I had done that but no luck
