If you wanted all of the bolt's throw available for your task, you could put the pawls on the inside of the mechanism acting on the center support member.
Brilliant mechanism. A long time I have looked for a simple mechanism to lower and hold transportwheels down on a machine when it should be moved. And here it is. Brilliant idea.
I am trying to mentally figure out where a base plate would go and how it would work to prevent it from being pushed too far back at first. But so far I can’t figure it out. Could you explain it a little more detailed for me?
I have been looking for someone who can fix my cheaper pens. Can you fix them? For how much? These days, people usually fix only the expensive things. But I’m interested in sustainability for all things.

nicely done - wish I had even 1/10th this level of mechanical ability. Thanks for sharing :)
Absolutely fantastic mate...Simple, perfect mechanism!

Awesome! Now I have to figure out how to apply a similar idea to my pencil dispenser
Genius!!!
It is great when the operator remembers to not push the rod all the way to get it to catch.
You can easily have a bottom plate to stop it

I guess he didn’t

clever.
on the first push, what would happen if you push as far as possible?
If you push too far, it'll automatically release again.
And that is this concept's flaw.
@@alejandroperez5368 you would have a plate on the bottom. Stop being a butt
I’ve seen multiple of these videos
Why are people negative this is the best idea I have seen yet.
sucks, start over.
