I saw the first latch in the video used on an old barn where my Dad grew up. (He was born in 1910, the barn was older than he was.) All the doors and gates in the barn had that type of latch. Then he built one for a gate to our pasture. It could be opened and closed from either direction, but used the same concept. It has the rings on either side. Those were not made from a section of pipe but were made from metal rod and formed into a circle using a forge and an anvil.
And because they were forged.. they were very strong
The second type can be purchased at any Ace Hardware store in the US or from Trooper in Mexico or from Sinsa in Central America.

My dad built the loop latch back in the 80s with a steel ring with a bilt through it, sandwiched between a piece of 1" flat steel stock folded in half. It's on the gate to this day, so a testament to the design.

Если на защелке есть висячий замок, для его открытия достаточно отвертки. (Защелка крепится доступными винтами). Это шаблон?
@@filiptomek3695 полагаю это просто для демонстрации, ведь при желании, можно просто приварить всю конструкцию, или закрепить болтами на подобии мебельных, где шляпка болта вообще не имеет шлицов.
А открывать как?
Выйдешь,захлопнется и в дом не войдёшь

Отвёртка под крест решит эту преграду ! С шурупами нужно решить проблему. Ну а так идеи хорошие.

I was just going to say that those locks are worthless if all they have to do is takeoff the screws but then I seen your message.😂
The point is those lock mechanisms are easy and nice to use, and of your’s problem, just drill extra screw behind the mechanical bars that’s it, fixed.
I think these are just proof of concept, but you're definitely right

Very nice designs and realizations. One flaw nevertheless : the locks are useless because the screws of the latches are accessible and can be unscrewed by anyone wanting to enter these rooms. If you can manage to have a indoor attachment, then this last problem is fixed. Anyway, again, very nice work.

You can weld it
Just put bolts all the way through the gate, and double nut them, or weld them so they can't be removed easily.

The second latch and/or variants were to be seen on nearly every gate in the fence between front and back yards of houses in my whole suburb in NZ back in the Fifties. I should know, as I had to go around monthly collecting money for the newspapers I delivered on my bicycle.
Pretty much all of these have been in use for well over 100 years.
I like how all the latches in the beginning has all the phillips screws exposed. Not secure at all. Cordless screw gun has all those removed in less than 20 seconds

Seen a few of these already in use, and on the market.
The first one is a version of one that I first saw and photographed on a fence gate in the historic town of Rugby, Tennessee. That one was probably made by a local blacksmith and the ring was made from round rod.

Спорные очень механизмы. Если закроется, а ты остался с другой стороны, тебе никто не поможет...
Вот и меня мучает этот вопрос. При наличии шуруповерта замок как брелок.

Hey my friend, all these latches are screwed on from outside, so they can be easily be removed from outside by everybody. I would be happy to see locks and latches which are assembled from the inside and just has the "authorized user access" from outside. You showed that your skills and creativity are on a very high level, but the general concept needs to be improved from my opinion.
Cool latches but no real security. As built, none of them provided any level of security that could not easily be defeated. Excellent DIY for a low security need

Very practical ideas, but one huge problem.............your mounting screws are exposed. They can be removed and entry is possible. Redesign your mountings and your designs are thief-proof.

Loved some of the latch designs, however, all the latches with locks have exposed screws attaching them to the door and door frame. A person with a cordless drill/screwdriver could be inside the locked room in about 3 seconds.
i like it for the creativity.. work and design.. even if you put studs in it bolted on the inside someone can rip a lock off in a few seconds anyway with a prybar
Yes. Screws should have been hidden behind moving elements. Accessible when unlocked, hidden while locked.
Anyone with a die grinder could cut the lock even faster.

7:54 The problem with any latch design which has exposed screws is that it can be easily defeated by simply unscrewing the mechanism from the door or door frame. In its locked position, all the screws should be obscured so they can't be reached by any screwdrivers. The mechanism should only be removable when it is unlatched.

It would be best to weld the bolts which are used to attach the latch, as if You have the screws and bolts visible, it's too easy to just remove them and open the door.
The first one looks like a great way to lock yourself in a room with no way to release it from the inside

Great production. But it has one big flaw - the lock can be opened by unscrewing the cross screws. The lock must be made in such a way that the screw heads are hidden when locked.
Or use rivets, secures screws with welding or weld the screws to nuts on the backside: screw still spins, but nut wont come of. on some handles easy to cover the screws by moving the screw holes or enlarging the metal pieces to cover them.
That was the first thing I thought.

very smart to use holding elements like bolts etc outside and use a lock ))) no need to have a picklock , need just a screwdriver to unscrew bolts to get inside... better to make longer "stands" to hold the construction with bolts from inside and outside part of construction to lock the door

A far more sophisticated version of the last one was on internal doors in a house from the late 1800s I once lived in, and is probably much older.

Die Schlösser sind nutzlos, da die Schrauben der Verriegelungen zugänglich sind und von jedem, der dies möchte, mit einem Schraubendreher abgeschraubt werden können. Meine Kommentare wurden von diesen Leuten gelöscht. DIE WAHRHEIT TUT WEH!!!!!!!!
