This looks like a blessing for someone like me. I've used many hang on the back filters and honestly I hate them for many reasons including the fact of losing some during a time of power outage come back home and the motor has burned out and my fish gasping for air After a lifetime of lupus with 23 surgeries already and more to come I am physically disabled and every decision I make with fish keeping or anything for that matter has to be very carefully thought out. I would be eternally grateful to have something like this to work with! Now Trying to fight with Social security for financial benefits has left me with nothing to work with except continue using my Old Biowheel HOB filters which ( everyone knows They stopped spending after short amount of time which makes them redundant?) I have recently become a subscriber to your channel and I have to say your way of teaching all of us is amazing: Your direct yet personable way of speaking to all of us not talking down to any of us is a wonderful method 😎😎 Thank you for all teachings and suggestions. Even something as simple as a money-saving way of building a beneficial bacteria instead of a canister filter as demonstrated in one of your previous videos could be a substantial savings for someone like me who is struggling with equipment that should be replaced. Thank you again for your awesome channel I'm very happy to be part of your fish keeping group! PS I have a large rescue group of fish and in the group are seven blood parrots in various sizes. Half of them were sick and two of them are deformed.Having never had these beautiful fish before they're incredible personalities are beyond belief! They eat out of my hand everyday and allow me to cup them in my hands and play with them in their tank.I definitely get it.. everyone should have at least One 🧠💭😎😎😎🧡 PSS I'm also looking to adopt a large group of African cichlids and three synodontis catfish. Now this I'm proceeding with extreme caution because it they seem like they are a lot of work but with your Course it might give me more confidence in my 🧠 I just want my body to cooperate.
Luckily you have a love for this hobby which im certain brings you a lot of joy! Im happy to hear you've been enjoying the channel and thank you very much for that positive feedback! Welcome to the family! 😊
Thank you 💕 And thank you again for your amazing videos! My dad's lady has developed an interest through me for fish keeping, finds it fascinating. With all of my struggles she appreciates how much this hobby has helped me mentally ( not physically, that's a big struggle)she absolutely loves your videos too! 💕 I love to give hugs of gratitude and thanks so here you go: 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗 PS: I am looking to buy the equipment necessary today on Cyber Monday for the substitute for the python. To me that makes so much more sense then a python especially since water pressure is not great. With A 100 ft hose I can fit and reach to anywhere in the house and with the big enough pump I should have plenty enough water pressure to do my necessary water changes
Kev, you and Seachem make a great team. I would not be a successful keeper without you both!! I have two 20’s, a 45 and a 40. Now that Seachem has a great new filter, I’m looking at a 50 for my two red parrots. 💜💜💜
I just bought this today. I loaded it up with only matrix rock and left the coarse sponge in the bottom. I have a 75-gallon cichlid tank. I also run a fluval 407 and a topfin pro 110. I just want more bio since the tank has 15 fish in it, and they are growing.
I bought the Tidal 75 just to polish my water with my Fluval 407 It's the best hang on filter in the world. It's so simple, it's an ingenious simple design. It's a great protein skimmer. Also such good value to have as an emergency standby filter. And, it's do easy to cut your own pads. Truly superb!
I have a Tidal 55 and love it. I change it every two weeks. I have the "big blue" filter on the bottom and then subsequently finer filtration, in 3 levels, with the polishing pad on the top. I have Purigen next and Matrix on the top. (This is out of order but it does work.) I wouldn't change the Tidal 55 for the world. And it is all thanks to.....the Kaveman. The best fishkeeper on the Planet! After Christmas, I'll be ordering an 80-90 gallon tank for the living room and moving the three little tanks to a spare bedroom. Once the big boy is in place, I'll sell the two smallest tanks and save the 20 as a hospital tank. I'm really excited about doing this. I'm actually dreaming about aquariums and tropical fish. And if any of you haven't visited Kev's 3D background source do it now.
Hey Kev, THANK YOU for your review of this filter. My filter, Aqueon 75 pro just crapped on me and was about to buy another one when an advertisement for Tidal 55 popped up, which led me to your video 👏👏👏🙌, it arrived today! Ty
Another awesome video :-) I have a second Tidal 110 just for polishing on my new 75 gallon. I dont even take the basket out. I get a bowl, remove cover, take out the yucky polyfill and stuff it with fresh. Bam.....Done. :-)
I’m going to say to everyone, you must watch this video. After I saw this video and heard from 2 more popular UA-camrs and online reading (got to do your homework), the Seachem Tidal is the KING HOB filter. I also followed Kaveman's set up with the sponge first, then Polyfill in the middle "like that like so” but used the rock bag medium on top that comes with Seachem filter instead of Seachem Purigen. CLEAR WATER, forget the other HOB's. Also using Seachem with polyfill is cheaper and easier as you can buy your own cheaper mediums + the pull-out filter tray is like the Lazy Suzy of the hobby...SOOO easy to change. Other filters you must use their costly proprietary filter cartridges that is such a rip-off and cloudiness don’t go away. I have Seachem Tidal 75 by the way.
I have the Tidal series filters on all 10 of my tanks, including my 125 gallon Discus and Severum tank. (2 of the 110). I switched all my filters to these about a year ago, best decision I've ever made for my fish, water is always crystal clear. These are hands down te best HOB filter on the planet
I have one on the side of my 7 ft tank. I love my 110 tidal 🔥🐠. I used the blue sponge, wool and polyfilter along with a few balls of left over marine pure. Occasionally I add activated carbon or chemipure. I love how it creates surface agitation. Great video mate ⚡️
Just wanted to say thank you for introducing to me the Seachem Tidal filters. I’ve got 2 110 on my 65 gallon African Cichlid aquarium (along with canister filter), a 110 on my 75 gallon peaceful tank, and a 75 on the 40 gallon tall planted aquarium I bought for my wife. All of them have Purigen too. Crystal clear!!! Also got all of the nutrients you put in your Cichlid food and works great!!
Hay brother love your vids. I use a Marineland 150 on my 20 high. Added intake sponge, puritan and filled it with foam. My tank is crystal clear and fish are happy.
I have the 35 on my betta tank. I love it so each to clean. Just put some sponges and poly fil keeps the water crisp and clean. The betta loves I can keep the flow down and it doesn’t blow him all over. Oh and the self prime is the best
My power went out while I was at work. I came home and noticed a cranking sound several hours later...my filter almost burnt up! This filter is genius!!!!
Kev my brother what an awesome giveaway!!! That is so amazing of you and Seachem arranging it for your followers. The Tidal series are the Kings of HOBs. Seachem definitely picked an incredible Ambassador, because if you recommend it I'm sold. I don't care if its anything from shoelaces to a space helmet if the Kaveman seal of approval is on it I know its a recommendation I can trust. Thank you for all you do, and Leeeets Goooo!!!
@@KaveManAquatics I will wear it proudly, also side note just acquired (2) 55 and a 75 gallon for the room so guess I know what to tell the wife to get for xmas!!!
Hey Kev I purchased the Seachem 75 model filter and the poly and the purigen. I did it exactly like you did but had a problem with the poly and the purigen want to come out of the filter . Solution I used a zipper mesh bag and put the poly and purigen in side and it works like a charm .
That's why i purchased the Tidal 75 in addition to a Fluval 207 canister. Now I'm able to run the Purigen in the Tidal 75 instead of my canister and servicing the media couldn't be any easier.
Kev whats the best media to use for a HOB tidal filter. I have a 75 and 110. After seeing this I’ll set up my 75 as a polishing filter. What’s a better substitute for activated carbon?
Super new and starting with a 65 gallon tank which will eventually host Angel fish and some tank mates and clean up crews…. Are you saying I should have one filter primarily for my bio media and then this filter as a secondary? That will be maintenances more often than the other filter? Sorry if I sound like I know nothing… Just want to really wrap my head around this
Thanks for the detailed information on the TIdal filter. I wasn't sure if it was worth it but now am sold. am definitely going to consider the Tidal 35. Thanks again!
Hi excellent video. Any advice for a cold water tank which gets green algae all the time with UV light??? Its not in direct sunlight no excess food given to fish. Nitrates, pH is no issues there. I don't know what to do? Is it the led lights causing it I've got one yellow and one white tubes led ones
That would be my guess...too much light. Go for 6 hours or less and see if the algae starts to reduce. Other option to try is adding some algae eaters...check this out - ua-cam.com/video/7cIaO2v9bJ4/v-deo.html
That would be a good addition to my 125 with my FX4. Bro I love how you explain and then do it because I helps newbies like this guy 👆🏼👆🏼😂 I appreciate your videos.
The 110 is the one I've been eyeing for my new 75g build. Time to go back to basics with a huge, but simple schooling tank my wife and kids will enjoy! Thanks for doing this video! I'm sold even if I don't win 😆
Thank you very much for all your videos are great. I have a 72 gallon tank with an fx6 filter. 6 adult African cyclids and three adult red parrots. but I had babies and I would like to stay with some that are now in another tank because they are small (I have 15) How many do you recommend that I can stay to join the older ones? Thank you.
Hi Kev! I am going to be getting a tidal filter for my new thirty gallon aquarium. Do you think getting the tidal 55 for extra filtration is a good idea? I will be housing 6 cory cats, some platies, a school of tetras and maybe a bristlenose pleco or something different like a dwarf gourami. Thank you!!
Great video! Saw you had a review for the tidal after recommending it in a comment! I’m just trying to figure out how to transfer my fish into a new tank haha. My old filter has a bio wheel/cartridge so how would I preserve any media to the new tank.
Use the bio media from the old filter in the new one. If there wasn’t any bio-media and all you had was the wheels, run both filters together for about 2 weeks while the beneficial bacteria transfers over. 😁
Did all of it... I want to give you a huge thanks, seems I subscribed my aquariums change. You made my life easier. And more enjoyable. Thank you so much for that.... 👍👍👍👍☝
Hey Kev, I’m running a FX4 and tidal 110 on my 75 gallon. Overkill, I know. Have you ever considered putting a UV sterilizer in the polishing filter? They sell cheap 13 watt ones on Amazon. Any cons to this? Always a big fan, thanks.
HOBs are great, the biggest bang for the buck with their biggest shortcoming being the fact that they short circuit (draw in the same water they just filtered) a good percentage of the time. As for brands, I am in the AQ camp. I have had numerous units over the years and never had a problem with one restarting after a power failure (very rare) or unplugging it. The one big plus of the AQ is the availability of of an aftermarket filter basket which is 100 times better than any stock basket. Also purigen is rechargeable as noted on the directions, you strip away what it has absorbed with bleach for a few cycles and then it is gone.
So I can use this method with the polly fill only as a secondary filter. I would still need my Top Fin pro 50 with the media right? Would you recommend this filter as the main or only filter with media? Thanks Barbie
Hey Kev.. your great.. so I’m running 2 tidal 110’s on my Datnoid 150g… both set up the same 2 blue sponges, polyfil, carbon, bio rings, matrix in separate bags. Should I just have 2 blue sponges the matrix, bio rings in one filter #1…and just 2 blue sponges polyfil and purgin in the other #2….as a polishing filter? And #2 would need maintenance more often than #2. Can I make changes all at once or during water change. Thanks
That all depends on how much bacteria your tank needs. Most likely you will still be able to grow more than enough even with the second filter being used for polishing (bacteria will still grow on your blue sponges) but you want to make sure you don’t get any ammonia spikes if/when you make the switch. Try it out and see how your tank does. But keep Prime and Stability on hand just in case.
what’s up g great video jus like all the rest lol. I gota say you are the reason why got into cichlids. I sent and got a 75gal to start with and a canister sun sun but to get to the topic I already had a tidal 75 and ima use it also just for extra help and like you said it’s the best filter you just have to believe it and go get it … believe us people … you won’t regret it.. ;)
Hey Kev, another informative and great video. I'm a big fan of Seachem products, been contemplating on getting the HOB for my cichlid tank. I'm just not sure if it will go over my tank as it has a lip on the top. What is the clearance (for area that goes over the glass side)..... I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself clearly or not 🤔
Great video is it loud the water trickling ? I have my tank in my bedroom I have a Marineland 360 bio wheel super quiet except for the water trickling into the tank even with the water to the top of the tank
Always great content you got me using a WaveMaker. I have a question I am running a fx4 on my 90 gallon planted discus tank. Could I go with the 75 tidal to polish or go with the 110 ?
Thanks brother. I ordered the 75 already just got your reply. Lol no worries the 110 was only 12 bucks more but was out of stock. I'm sure it will do just fine and I didn't want to wait lol.
Can I use the tidal on my first 40 gallon breeder saltwater tank. I cnt risk a sump in my home right now. What else do you recommend for my first 40 gallon breeder with HOB filter
Depends on your tank fish and setup. But you'll be able to see when its getting dirty and clogged, plus the blue button will pop up and let you know. 😊
Great video as usual. I have a 110 I installed on my 72 gallon. It is not quiet. It is sitting firmly on the tank so the noise isn’t caused by vibration that I can tell. What else should I check? Do I have a dud?
I tried putting one on my 125 it was noisy not as quiet as I expected it to be I I did have my tank water high. Give it a try but after 5 minutes I put it back in the box and shipped it back to Amazon
Hello!! I had a question about your videos!! I am very new to the hobby and was wondering if you had any videos about kh and gh? thanks in advance! I love your videos so far! Very informative and explained to where everyone can understand! Thanks!!!
In my experience, with a freshwater tank, you dont really need to worry about KH and GH. They will coincide with your PH and even that is not something you need to worry about, so much lol Heres a video on raising PH for african Cichlids that may help out - ua-cam.com/video/4F6zhccDam4/v-deo.html
@@KaveManAquatics Ok I was just making sure... my water is well water and it is hard. My kh is 161.10 ppm and it takes 5 drops to change color on my Gh test. Just want to make sure I am doing the right thing!! Thanks so much!!
Hello Mr KaveMan. I have a home made polishing filter in which I use the fiber fill you show in the video. I also place fiber fill at the top of my C360 canister filter. My question is can I replace the fiber fill in my C360 with Purigen? Would this be overkill? I've never used Purigen before. Thanks for your videos. Very informative!
Purigen isnt a necessary addition, but if you feel your water could be a bit more clearer, purigen will help to provide that. I dont think you need to "replace" the poly...You can just add the purigen to it.
Sup boss. Question for my Aqueon 200 canester filter came with a few options. Skimmer / flow valve / or water dropper. Would you say the skimmer is the best option? And if so should I remove the charcoal slide in filter and replace it with a reusable sponge? Or should I run the charcoal in the canister filter and the skimmer ? Thank you bro much love
I would definitely stop using cartridges. Go with reusable sponges to save BB. You can still add carbon if you'd like as well. Watch this - ua-cam.com/video/unlFewmTrBw/v-deo.html
Opinion wise The Top Fin Pro 110 power filter with skimmer is the best HOB on the market right now hands down..Also by the time you add media to the filter you cut your flow rate in half which cuts it down to around 225 gallons per hour..
🤔 hmmm well…. I love HOB filters… they are by far my favorite filter type for ease of maintenance and customize ability. In particular i like the AquaClear brand because they allow me to stack into it whatever filter materials I need for that particular tank. It’s also a bottom to top filter design rather than front to back…. But depending on what type of HOB you have they aren’t all good… those cartridge ones are JUNK! This new design from tidal looks really thought out and easy to customize… all big pluses! If I ever need a new filter I’ll be looking into these for sure.
Aquaclear is one of those that are also good because of lack of cartridges and a removable tray…only thing it’s missing is the self priming pump. Try a Tidal and I promise you won’t be disappointed 😁
I have seen you using a hose adapter for water changes connected to both the hot and cold taps. I have always avoided using hot water thinking that the sediment that usually builds up in a water heater would add unwanted minerals or hardness into your aquarium. Is that not the case?
It’s possible. But that’s why using Seachem Prime during every water change is so important. It removes those heavy metals additional to removing chlorine and chloramine while also detoxifying ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate 😁

This looks like a blessing for someone like me. I've used many hang on the back filters and honestly I hate them for many reasons including the fact of losing some during a time of power outage come back home and the motor has burned out and my fish gasping for air
After a lifetime of lupus with 23 surgeries already and more to come I am physically disabled and every decision I make with fish keeping or anything for that matter has to be very carefully thought out. I would be eternally grateful to have something like this to work with! Now Trying to fight with Social security for financial benefits has left me with nothing to work with except continue using my Old Biowheel HOB filters which ( everyone knows They stopped spending after short amount of time which makes them redundant?)
I have recently become a subscriber to your channel and I have to say your way of teaching all of us is amazing:
Your direct yet personable way of speaking to all of us not talking down to any of us is a wonderful method 😎😎 Thank you for all teachings and suggestions.
PS
I have a large rescue group of fish and in the group are seven blood parrots in various sizes. Half of them were sick and two of them are deformed.Having never had these beautiful fish before they're incredible personalities are beyond belief! They eat out of my hand everyday and allow me to cup them in my hands and play with them in their tank.I definitely get it.. everyone should have at least One 🧠💭😎😎😎🧡
PSS
I'm also looking to adopt a large group of African cichlids and three synodontis catfish.
I love to give hugs of gratitude and thanks so here you go: 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
PS:
I am looking to buy the equipment necessary today on Cyber Monday for the substitute for the python.
Thank you so much!! 😊
JUST GOT A 110 TO SETUP AND PLAN TO GET ANOTHER AND USE 2 EXACTLY LIKE YOU SAID …ONE MAIN FILTER AND ONE POLISHER !!!
Congrats!! 😁
Happy to hear that! And I totally agree! 😊
All I know is my 55 gallon african cichlid tank🐠 is thriving thanks to you 😎
Awesome to hear it!!! Glad I could help! 😁
Hey Kev, THANK YOU for your review of this filter. My filter, Aqueon 75 pro just crapped on me and was about to buy another one when an advertisement for Tidal 55 popped up, which led me to your video 👏👏👏🙌, it arrived today! Ty
My pleasure bro, you will love that filter and never switch to anything else! Enjoy! 😁💪
I don't have Instagram. But this is a must for my new tank coming in on Friday. Super excited! Thanks Kev and seachem!
Thank you for posting my dude your awsome man don’t quit this is so great going through all these topics thanks again for being you
Thank you bro, it’s my pleasure! Glad you’re enjoying the channel! 😊💪
Another awesome video :-) I have a second Tidal 110 just for polishing on my new 75 gallon. I dont even take the basket out. I get a bowl, remove cover, take out the yucky polyfill and stuff it with fresh. Bam.....Done. :-)
😁
Totally agree with you!! 😊
Tidal 35 is my go to for quarantine tank. Super simple to set up with some seeded media and break down when not in use.
Absolutely! 😁💪
I just got one of this tidal 75 for $10 i have a canister filter on my 30 G tank and its really nice to see that I can use it as a polishing
Congrats on that steal! And on your future crystal clear water 😊💪
I use this on my 55 gallon and pimped it out! Thanks for the tips!
Glad I could help 😊
Best review of this HOB filter..plus the idea of using this as a polishing filter because this filter is very easy to clean.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Great video. I have the 75 as a polisher on my 75 and it's the best HOB I've ever used
Nice!! 😁💪
What’s good bro it was nice meeting you. I told my boy I know that guy he from UA-cam I learn a lot watching your channel thanks keep up the good work
Oh snap! Thanks bro, nice meeting you too! You officially the first one to spot me out in the real world!! LOL
Hey Kev, another great video. It was full of info I didn't know. Will deffitnally be looking at the Tidal 110.
Thanks bro, Glad I could help! 😊
Great idea, thanks to KaveMan Aquatics and Seachem for doing this.
Thank you!! 😁💪
Happy to see you moving up bro keep up the good work, I have this filter for my 55 gallon.
Thank you bro! 😁💪
Best filter ever made.
💪💪
Man, after watching this video I did the modification. It made a great different.
Great to hear! Glad I could help bro! 😊💪
My pleasure Chad! Glad you're finding the channel helpful 😁
Love love love your channel!!
Hay brother love your vids. I use a Marineland 150 on my 20 high. Added intake sponge, puritan and filled it with foam. My tank is crystal clear and fish are happy.
Good stuff
I have the 35 on my betta tank. I love it so each to clean. Just put some sponges and poly fil keeps the water crisp and clean. The betta loves I can keep the flow down and it doesn’t blow him all over. Oh and the self prime is the best
My power went out while I was at work. I came home and noticed a cranking sound several hours later...my filter almost burnt up! This filter is genius!!!!
Yup, by far the number 1 design element that’s makes this king!
Kev, I got the Tidal 110 for my 60 gallon (40 mbunas with 2 sunsun filters). Love the Tidal 110, thanks for the tip!
My pleasure! Glad you're finding the channel helpful 😁
Thank you for these great instructional videos, very helpful. Keep up the good work, hermano. De Lo Mio! 👊
Big Kev first video I ever watched of yours i love your energy and the way you deliver your content amazing you have gain a subscription 😊
Thank yo bro! Welcome aboard!
🤣🤣 My man Darth always with the great comment and feedback! Thank you so much bro! I’ll ask Seachem to look into that space helmet for you 🤣🤣
@@KaveManAquatics I will wear it proudly, also side note just acquired (2) 55 and a 75 gallon for the room so guess I know what to tell the wife to get for xmas!!!
🤣🤣💪💪
Hey Kev I purchased the Seachem 75 model filter and the poly and the purigen. I did it exactly like you did but had a problem with the poly and the purigen want to come out of the filter . Solution I used a zipper mesh bag and put the poly and purigen in side and it works like a charm .
Nice! Great tip!
I had to recently quit the hobby due to health issues, but I used to run 2 seachem tidal 110s on my 55g and the water was always crystal clear
That's why i purchased the Tidal 75 in addition to a Fluval 207 canister. Now I'm able to run the Purigen in the Tidal 75 instead of my canister and servicing the media couldn't be any easier.
Excellent!! 😁💪
I own every model of these. They are great filters once pimped out
Agreed! 😊
Kev whats the best media to use for a HOB tidal filter. I have a 75 and 110. After seeing this I’ll set up my 75 as a polishing filter. What’s a better substitute for activated carbon?
I got the ac110 with a marketplace deal still satisfied
Great Kev, I have the Tidal 75 also it’s a Excellent HOB filter and I have it on my Tank also as a extra water polisher 😎keep the good work coming
Awesome brother! Glad you enjoyed the video!! 😁😁
Great video. I did a ton of research and the tidal was the winner. I have four on two tanks with one being a polishing filter. Great call!
Glad I could help! Totally agree with you! Its an awesome filter!
My pleasure! Glad I could help! 😊
I love that I can tell my daughter to get one as will for here fish tank
It definitely would be! Glad to help bro 😁
@@KaveManAquatics I just sent the link to my boy that has Cichlids also I don’t know how to tag people lol
@@99hondacbr900rr lol on IG just type @(their IG name) 😁
Ahh yea Amazon is here lol
Got 2 of the Tidal 110s best filter in the hobby hand down!
Have to agree with you bro! 😁💪
Hey Kev, really like your channel very informative, do you recommend this mod on the the Tidal 55 alone as only filtration on smaller tanks. Thanks
Hi Kevin - Can you tell me what is the clearance needed behind the tank for the installation of a Seachem 75?
Will this setup work for a Res turtle tank? Thank you for all your great tips!
The 110 is the one I've been eyeing for my new 75g build. Time to go back to basics with a huge, but simple schooling tank my wife and kids will enjoy! Thanks for doing this video! I'm sold even if I don't win 😆
Great vid bro, going to upgrade to a tidal, have a AC now and it’s a hassle priming it , keep up the best fish channel on here, gracias
You'll definitely enjoy it! No more priming!! 😁
Thank you.
You can probably keep them all. African Cichlid tanks are usually overstocked for good reason. But keep them in a grow out until they get much bigger.
@@KaveManAquatics Thanks. quick question. Do you have any videos in how to prepare the tank for american cichilds?
@@KaveManAquaticsok sounds like a plan , so running the two filters with the fish inside too?
Definitely invest in a back up battery as well. Life saver 🙏
Agreed!
KaveMan, U are a Gun ! U definitely know how to sell a product, Tidal 110 is exactly what i'm going with ! Great presentations thumbs up
Thank you bro! Glad you enjoyed the video! 😁💪
Did all of it... I want to give you a huge thanks, seems I subscribed my aquariums change. You made my life easier. And more enjoyable. Thank you so much for that.... 👍👍👍👍☝
My Pleasure!! Glad I could help! 😊💪
Just saw your Master water test kit video. Excellent info. Thanks 👍 new subscriber easy to follow
Thank you bro! Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a fluval 110 at the moment, would you recommend i swap to a tidal 110? Seems to be more effective, SEEMS lol
Hey Kev.. your great.. so I’m running 2 tidal 110’s on my Datnoid 150g… both set up the same 2 blue sponges, polyfil, carbon, bio rings, matrix in separate bags.
I sent and got a 75gal to start with and a canister sun sun but to get to the topic I already had a tidal 75 and ima use it also just for extra help and like you said it’s the best filter you just have to believe it and go get it … believe us people … you won’t regret it.. ;)
Nice, glad you're finding the channel helpful! 💪
Awesome tutorial video. As a die hard hobbiest which have 4 tanks I will definitely invest in 2 of these filters. 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Hey Kev, another informative and great video. I'm a big fan of Seachem products, been contemplating on getting the HOB for my cichlid tank.
I'm just not sure if it will go over my tank as it has a lip on the top. What is the clearance (for area that goes over the glass side)..... I'm not sure if I'm explaining myself clearly or not 🤔
Its designed to go over a pretty wide lip, fits most tank designs. Unless you have something totally custom, it should fit your tank with no problem.
Bro!!!! Another one!!!! I appreciate all the help!
Great video is it loud the water trickling ? I have my tank in my bedroom I have a Marineland 360 bio wheel super quiet except for the water trickling into the tank even with the water to the top of the tank
If the water level is above the spout you wont hear a thing 😊
@@KaveManAquatics thank you 🙏 love all your videos 🐟🐠
Always great content you got me using a WaveMaker. I have a question I am running a fx4 on my 90 gallon planted discus tank. Could I go with the 75 tidal to polish or go with the 110 ?
I believe the 110 is only 10 or 15 bucks more than the 75....so go bigger bro 😊💪
Thanks brother. I ordered the 75 already just got your reply. Lol no worries the 110 was only 12 bucks more but was out of stock. I'm sure it will do just fine and I didn't want to wait lol.
I've been really wanting to try the tidal 110!!! Currently running fx6s and aquaclear 110s
Love the surface skimmer and self priming is a must for sure. the aquaclears severely lack in that department
Totally agree with you brother David!
Can I use the tidal on my first 40 gallon breeder saltwater tank. I cnt risk a sump in my home right now. What else do you recommend for my first 40 gallon breeder with HOB filter
Dope video bro. I have the same HOB. Can I put polyfill in it along the with every else that goes inside the HOB?
Absolutely! Just remember the poly fil will clog faster and need to be replaced more often…but the tidal makes that super easy 😁
@@KaveManAquatics ok cool. I’ve been looking for that for a min now. Where can I find it at?
Nice Kev!! How often should you change your polyfil?
Depends on your tank fish and setup. But you'll be able to see when its getting dirty and clogged, plus the blue button will pop up and let you know. 😊
Great video as usual. I have a 110 I installed on my 72 gallon. It is not quiet. It is sitting firmly on the tank so the noise isn’t caused by vibration that I can tell. What else should I check? Do I have a dud?
Possibly! Is your tank water level all the way to the top? Could be the surface skimmer making noise due to lack of water.
Great video i have to get one of these HOB .👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Hello Mr KaveMan. I have a home made polishing filter in which I use the fiber fill you show in the video. I also place fiber fill at the top of my C360 canister filter. My question is can I replace the fiber fill in my C360 with Purigen? Would this be overkill? I've never used Purigen before. Thanks for your videos. Very informative!
Purigen isnt a necessary addition, but if you feel your water could be a bit more clearer, purigen will help to provide that. I dont think you need to "replace" the poly...You can just add the purigen to it.
great filter the only thing I would change is the shape of the media basket. Im running one on a 20 gallon with the flow set on the lowest setting :)
@@KaveManAquatics thank you ill watch that video now
Opinion wise The Top Fin Pro 110 power filter with skimmer is the best HOB on the market right now hands down..Also by the time you add media to the filter you cut your flow rate in half which cuts it down to around 225 gallons per hour..
To each is own 😊
When you have a canister filter and a HOB on the same tank. How do you position them both for proper water flow? Intakes and returns placement?
I have. 3ft tank and using Fluval 307 canister filter. Feel like adding a tidal 35 or oase hof. You think it work?
Ive had this filter for years and absolutely love it but I really wish I knew about the lid and basket option for a no mess change😂
I loved that lil feature also when I found out about it lol
I have seen you using a hose adapter for water changes connected to both the hot and cold taps. I have always avoided using hot water thinking that the sediment that usually builds up in a water heater would add unwanted minerals or hardness into your aquarium. Is that not the case?
It’s possible. But that’s why using Seachem Prime during every water change is so important. It removes those heavy metals additional to removing chlorine and chloramine while also detoxifying ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate 😁
Do you still using your dish wash (pot scrubbers) sponges in your fx6? Love your content, very useful!! BR from Bolivia!!
Yes sir! Havent changed them since I installed them! 😁
And thank you for all your advice I learned about prime and stability from you and it has worked great!
