jrhamari what does that have to do with anything? they made FF7 an almost completely new game that is nothing like the Original. that would be... not an optimal choice, to say the least, for RE4 when the OG holds up and is the literal template for the series since its release. it would be attempting to replace the same fundamental game with itself which they basically did when they gave us the PC port.
Johnny, Love you but I'm personally glad they didn't make Nemesis a super-powered Mr. X. I feel like that would make it way too difficult considering Nemesis's speed and power.
Appreciated the positivity about resistance. It really does have a lot going for it, mastermind queues are pretty bad though on console for some reason. PC I usually get a MM game in under 10 minutes but from what I hear, console needs work.
The rogue-like item stuff is included on higher difficulties just fyi, on nightmare and inferno difficulty the items move around, not sure to what degree as I haven't played it myself but that's what's been told to me
I've played through both and yes they do randomize some items and change/add enemies. But, if you play Nightmare, you've basically played Inferno too. Inferno just breaks the balance of the enemies health levels compared to the players which is greatly reduced. Nightmare is arguably the best difficulty to play on. Too bad it's locked behind a Hardcore run and completing these higher difficulties does grant unlocks like S+ runs in RE2 Remake.
Oh don't worry Johnny Resident Evil 8 is already finished just being polished up they were even planning to announce it after Resident Evil 3's release.
When I saw that RE4 is potentially getting remade I was pissed tbh. Granted it's great loved it. But it doesn't need it. It's not survival horror really either. More of survival shooter. Code Veronica X was like this bittersweet farewell to survival horror in the franchise for quite sometime

Fuck Steve. Seriously had people saying Steve is a good character. I'd rather see what Rebecca is doing now then ponder the concept of Steve ever surviving and not transforming when he would've died somewhere anyway if he got involved in Resi 6 or heck, Revelation 2.
Yeah, I was getting a ton of Fusion vibes with the way Nemesis works. This game also reminds a lot of Zero Mission in that it's incredibly short, but fun to replay and speed run.

That's exactly what I thought from the start! Sure, he has a low coming PRESENCE over the entire game, but you only meet him a few times. I thought this when he reviewed the game before. I even commented it. Super happy to know others feel this way!

Not really, he's a good villain until the end where he completely breaks his character and becomes incredibly stupid because the writers demand it. The most over the top depiction of Nicholai was in 2012's Operation Raccoon City. Nicholai is basically diet coke Wesker here and is lame.
@Maestro, He already kicked Carlos' butt before Jill showed up. Why doesn't he just get in the helicopter and fly off with the data and vaccine? This Nicholai breaks his own character and even the writers don't seem to know why, especially when he destroys the vaccine. 1999 Nicholai would never be this dumb. Better ending idea, Nicholai escapes in that chopper with the vaccine and just when things seem over for Jill and Carlos, the legend himself Barry Burton shows up to save them in another helicopter. Awesome. Also, Nicholai does not have the same monetary incentive to kill Jill as 1999 original Nicholai either. He's not even working for Umbrella as a Supervisor agent. Remake Nicholai is just Albert Wesker betraying Umbrella but worse.

But, when this distance shit ends, I plan on getting the RE3 Remake. I have the remakes for the original RE, RE0, both on the PS4, RE4, and the RE2 Remake. I had the original RE2 on the n64 back in 1998, which my dad helped me beat, as Leon. And they made Ada hotter in the RE2 remake, which I didn't think was possible... and they made Claire hotter too, and Jill looks even better than in the original RE3. I may not have played the original RE3, but I have the Resident Evil Archive book, which covers RE0-CV, and talks about the characters too, and the zombies and Nemesis and Mr. X, the creepy stalking motherfucker, who's Leon's final boss in 2, and gets killed halfway through Claire's story after she rescues Sherry from the creepy police chief, Brian Irons. Can't wait to see how creepy the RE3 Remake is. Now, we just need a Code Veronica remake... I've played through 4, 5, 6, The Umbrella Chronicles, and The Darkside Chronicles, as well as both Revelations games, but not 7. Can't thank you or John enough. And now, here's where I come in with a possible reason as to why: Hear me out please John, you know how convoluted the entire history of the RE series is story wise? I think this is them trying to soft reboot and this is why they are doing all the mainline, numbered titles in remakes, to also additionally, streamline and make a main story, I think they are honestly trying to wash away all the polarization of the past few games with this. How would you feel if that was exactly what they were doing?
Yeah, RE7 already felt like a soft reboot of previous RE canon that honestly concluded with RE5 in 2009 with the death of Albert Wesker and Spencer. But it does feel like RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake especially are more reboots than an actual remake like RE1 Remake 2002 was.

People only hated 6 for its gameplay and overexaggerated how bad it is. 5 was a complete joke when you ONLY consider story alone and nothing else. Wesker shouldnt have been the main villain and its painful seeing how awesome Jill is in RE3renake only to see how she ends up in RE5 (slap in the face to her fans) with stupid writing for her. I PASSIONATELY HATE RE5 and I can sit here all day and counter anything bad about RE6 with something RE5 did WAAAY worse.

And I never played the original RE3. But, I do have the Resident Evil Archive book, and I've read it, like hundreds of times, and I've read the character's profiles and the story synopsis of RE3, and it's characters, like a lot. And, I've seen people play it, both with and without commentary. So, while I didn't get a chance to play the original, I love what they did with Jill, Carlos, and Tyrell in this version. Didn't expect to care about Tyrell, and didn't think he'd be a main character this time. He wasn't even a little bit like he was in the original game. In the original, he was selfish, and a got blown up by a safe, while leaving his teammates to die. But in this one, he actually did things, to help Carlos and Jill, and he had some good lines, too. Especially the part where both him and Carlos go to the R.P.D., and on the way, he's making fun of Carlos, and teasing him because it looked like he was trying to ask Jill out. I genuinely felt bad when he got killed by Nemesis too, dude. But Murphy and Dario? They got screwed over the same way Ben did in the RE2 remake. I know, they both die anyways, but with Murphy, we got to know about him. He was like Marvin in RE2. Infected, but a tragic character. Who gets gunned down by Carlos, after turning into a zombie. And Dario, he panics and hides in a warehouse, and Jill tried to get him to come with her to the cable car, but he's obviously panicking and not in the mood to talk. He just lost his entire family, his mom, his wife, his daughter, all eaten by zombies. And he also had a tragic backstory in the original. He wanted to be a novelist, but his mom would only tell him he had a long way to go, and he became a salesman instead of following his dream. And in the end, uncontrollable fear sends him panicking to his death, being eaten by zombies. But in this version? Nothing. You don't go back to the warehouse. He's just mad, and tells you to go away. That's it. Lame. Luckily, I already knew his sad backstory. So, I wasn't pissed. I already knew what happened to him anyways. And, yeah, I felt bad; seeing Brad sacrificing himself to save Jill in the beginning, getting infected, and later, infecting Marvin, too, showing us, how in a genius moment, how he fucked up, and got infected in the RE2 remake. But yeah, when I killed him as Carlos, I felt bad. This and the RE2 remake, are how you do remakes, of games that are already great. Except the pale heads. Fuck those things, they're like the Regenarators from 4, but it's like fighting them without the infrared sniper scope. Sorry for the long rant.

Why are they even there?! I just spammed the dodge button, because I wasted almost all of my ammo trying to kill them. I save the grenades for the hunter gammas, those ugly pale frog motherfuckers, who can eat you whole. And just the other hunters; like the ones in the hospital. Fuck... I hate them. The pale heads, and the hunter gamma variation. Didn't have as much trouble with regular hunters this time. I hated them so much, as Carlos, I tried to punch one. It didn't work... but I tried. That's how much I hate them. I also tried to punch the lickers in the police station as Carlos too. Also didn't work, but I did use a grenade, and killed them that way. I hate the lickers too. Tough in 2 and 3.
For the record, Jon, the hunters seem to do the instakill attack exclusively with their left claw, and they tense to pounce with their left claw held out before they strike. Subtle as hell and it took several playthroughs before I could read it, but it's there.
Who else here has heard about the possible RE 4 remake , personally I find it pretty pointless since its camera perspective is what inspired the last two remakes , so what's the point?
One of the only things I can even think to add would be the ability to move and shoot at the same time as that is probably one of the only things re-releases have lacked. But yeah I can't think of what the hell else they could do, remaking RE4 sounds pointless but it still leaves me with a lot of morbid curiosity.
32-bit games made sense because many newer gamers wouldn't go back that far, and controls really hurt for those younger gamers. Anything past Code Veronica though seems pointless and a waste of money.
@MultiTardedThis isn't the bubonic plague so as long as your not 65 and older you should be fine (though stay away from your grandparents for there own sake) and vaccines are usually developed in about a year so I imagine by the next year we can look back at Corona like we have done with Small Pox and Polio.
@MultiTardedWell cases do vary, some people suffer worse then others, to some it's life threatening to others it's mostly just a minor flu. We just need to keep our distances from everyone and remain at home as much as possible and hopefully by a month or two the virus is contained. It's definitely a serious matter but It's not the end of the world everyone think it is, the news media loves to dramatize everything which personal just makes things worse for everyone. Not saying we should go back out to shake strangers hands again as of now, but this isn't the Ebola virus like everyone is making it out to be. There had been more deadly pandemics and more contagious and deadly viruses then corona.
I mean, I personally don’t agree that it’s “better” per se. Maybe because I’ve beaten the original close to 20 times but this one just feels weaker. I still really enjoyed my time playing it but the level of strategy that the original had in terms of ammo crafting to be able to beat Nemesis at every chase sequence and STILL have enough ammo for the unavoidable boss fights (1st run mind you) just isn’t present in this one. It doesn’t really feel like a survival horror game compared to the original or REmake 2 but...That being said, I still think my first go at it was pretty fun. While it was certainly watered down and too linear, I did think that the way that they handled Jill and Carlos was PERFECT. Hell, like you said, it was pretty awesome that they gave Tyrell something to do other than getting killed by Nikolai. But on its own, I don’t personally understand the backlash. As a long time subscriber, I can respect your opinion and acknowledge that you made a fair and entertaining review as always. Keep it up, Johnny!
I missed the freeze rounds in this one. They replaced them with the shitty mine rounds that are only good for that lame boss fight where he's running around the buildings.
Two things I wondered Zombie gore was heavily watered down. I know why. More zombies means that they needed to be less detailed just to make the game run. But if the waited to port this to the next generation, then maybe we could have gotten more zombies with the same amount of gore Also with Nemesis having a nose, where did it go when he evolved?

It's a great game, surely, but it only came out 15 years ago. CV came out in like, 1999, didn't it? That needs a remake first. More Claire Redfield isn't a bad thing... and, maybe they can fix Steve Burnside's character, like they did in The Darkside Chronicles game? Where he was played by Sam Riegel? Much better, to me. Except the jolly green giant boss fight... still love RE4 though. Loved the sexy outfits for Ashley at least. Like the sexy suit of armor, or her sexy pop diva outfit... or Leon's sexy R.P.D. outfit from RE2? Or Ada's sexy spy outfit? How are they going to remake those outfits? And, can they take the Ashley segments out of the RE4 Remake? Or, improve her character, like they did for Brad in the RE3 remake? Along with Tyrell and Carlos's characters? I mean, it's not impossible to do. Just make Ashley less annoying, and; maybe NOT kill Luis this time? Just a suggestion. I liked Luis, except the part where he'd kill you in the house, if you shot him too much. Still, he was my 2nd favorite RE4 character. The first being Leon, obviously. The Merchant and Ada were tied for 3rd. Krauser was 4th, Wesker 5th,, 6th was H.U.N.K, 7th was Ashley, 8th was Saddler, and 9th was Salazar. Honorable Mentions to the 2 Spanish cops who drive Leon out to the Spanish village, and get killed by the plagas infected villagers, and the dog Leon rescues, who helps him against the El Gigante, and, Bitores Mendes, The Village Chief, who was basically like Mr. X in this game. You guys think they'll be improved in the remake of 4, or can they not improve on perfection, with 4?

I'm on the disappointment train. They removed too much content from the original game, the structure is too lineal, there are nearly no puzzles and Nemesis feels under-utilized. Oh, and no Mercenaries mode. It's a 6.5/10 at most.
@Yo Man, I pre purchased and got a physical copy. And absolutely agree that the "classic" costume pre order bonus is a complete low effort joke. Jill's is purposely changed to not upset the anti can service mobs and Carlos' doesn't even give him his classic 1999 UBCS uniform. It's literally a shave and a hair cut lmao. Worse still, if you didn't pre order it, there's only one extra costume to unlock through boring grinding. Most of the original unlockable costumes, including Dino Crisis Regina, has been cut. Their not even sold separately like RE2 Remake. At least on pc, modders are doing a better job with extra costumes. But, that's arguably the worst way to buy it as with any digital version you cannot resell it like a physical copy and it has anti customer DRM at launch. Capcom definitely rushed it compared to RE2 Remake. I find it extremely interesting how there's been no extra dlc or announcement for single player focused content dlc for RE3 Remake. All I've seen is the game got a very mixed reception, it apparently sold half as many copies at launch in the UK as RE2 Remake, Capcom announced new stuff for Project Resistance, rumors for RE8, an official online survey from Capcom that can be completed in English asking fans if they want more remakes or even new RE games, and finally RE4 remake rumors. Capcom is usually very quick to push dlc and expansions, they did so with RE7 and even RE2 Remake.
Seeing Johnny exercising is part of the quality content I come here for. But sadly, I can't think of what do say about the actual remake itself, I must still be seeing *stars.*
I'm kinda disappointed they're remaking Resi 4 instead of Code: Veronica, maybe Capcom thought it would be poetic to release Resi 8 (VIIIage sounds kinda silly to me) alongside the game started the infected village setting.
Kinoksis I'm not surprised capcom is skipping code Veronica because they always act like it doesn't exist and it was one of my favorite RE games. I just can't believe they going to remake re4 tho like why that game doesn't need one maybe in 10 years I can understand but not now. The game still holds up even to this day. Also with the new releases making it look better than ever

Fabiano confirmed RE3 remake is already completed and they are not going to be doing anymore with it. The single player campaign was great; RE3 was never a big project CAPCOM was ever concerned with to begin with, which is unfortunate because it is also rich in RE history.
I don't particularly like how they handled brad in this game, at least how he went out. (his intro was better than the original though.) The whole point of brad's demise in the original was to set not only the appearance, but the goal of nemesis, to eliminate S.T.A.R.S members. Brad death was to zombies with Nemesis nowhere in site...
Nemesis didn't get a single STARS kill, way to ruin the scare factor of an iconic monster Capcom. Plus Brad already did redeem himself all the way back in both RE1 1996 and the 2002 RE1 Remake. He immediately regretted abandoning his fellow STARS and returned to see if their still alive. He literally saves Jill, Chris, Rebecca, and Barry at the end and gives the player the means to destroy the Tyrant.
Honestly, him taking off was probably the Smartest move. (cowardly but smart) Reminder what happened to bravo team's pilot Kevin when he decided to wait. Its literally in the intro to RE 1 remake.
@@SIMIFU Sometimes retreating is the best strategy. Brad had neither a vantage position nor the adequate weapons to deal with the pack of cerberus that attacked his comrades. The smartest move for him was to leave, but remained searching for them the whole night, until dawn when Jill and Chris shot the flares.
I stand by the statement people are streching the term "Remake" way to far now when it comes to games. RE:1 got a remake. Games like RE:2, RE:3 and FF7 got a treatment that is very much straying from the word remake with how much content is being changed, removed, and or altered from the gameplay mechanics down the story. I think the word reimagining is much better because it would have set a proper amount of expectations for the game instead of expecting a proper remake like RE:1 got in which it kept all the core elements from the story an game play and only adjusted minor things from graphsics, inventory, Menus, and Control methods that are used. RE: 1 is how you do a remake. RE 2, 3, and FF7 "Remakes" are how you do a recreation of an idea in a drasticly different way that is more fitting of a reimagining or reboot like Tomb Raid 2013 was: keep the basic conceptual idea, and then change, remove, and or alter LITERALY everything making no longer similar to the orginal. Besides characters an some plot beats. Just my two cents. I will not be responding to replys. I have had enough people yell at me for what people see as bad mouthing games people wanted for years. All I am doing is saying is the word remake does not fit when literally 90% of the everything a game is changed, removed, and or altered.

Considering the RE remakes kinda cater to people unfamiliar with the classic games and the game has changes from the original that Johnny talked about in detail that players may have wanted to experience firsthand, I think the spoiler warning was fine. The clocktower and graveyard cuts kind of suck, and I would still have jill go to the rpd instesd, and also add in the randomizer. Overall still good, but less than re2.
About 1/3 or more of the original game was cut. Carlos going to the RPD felt like padding, lazy, and continuity breaking given how he cleans up a lot of the station. RE3 1999 RPD trip served a far better purpose by: introducing Nemesis as an organic Terminator capable of wiping out the remaining STARS, a little RE2 fan service, give ya an RNG weapon pick up, and a few holy crap Nemesis chase moments.

@Mr.Ridley, I agree. Resident Evil 2 Remake was my game of the year for 2019. My only real criticism was the B scenarios and A/B continuity was not as good as RE2 1998. But RE3 Remake goes way too cut happy, especially cutting Mercenaries. That's like cutting 4th Survivor and Tofu Survivor from RE2.
theres already a randomizer in RE3R,its called nightmare and inferno mode,you unlock those after finishing hardcore mode,then finishing nightmare mode to unlock inferno,those modes are like a redacted version with certain things changed around . Enemies have been reorganised,like you might find a zombie or other creature where there wasnt before in standard/hardcore,some places might have more enemies and certain creatures you see later in the game show up much earlier. Also enemies are faster,especially Nemesis wich running speed is about twice as fast. Items are also reorganised kinda like the randomizer mode in the N64 version of RE2. And a few more surprises were added.
Even from earlier trailers/gameplay, Mastermind looked like the only fun class to play. I also hear the game does not use dedicated servers, so losing Masterminds end the match if they quit. I really do think Capcom could've used the Mastermind idea for a bonus single player focused content in RE3 Remake. Still to this day, I'd love to see a full single player RE game starring Hunk, the USS, or UBCS. Hunk especially keeps getting shafted.
@@Gruntvc with the exclusion of a mercenaries mode the game feels like it got shafted to take time for this unbalanced cash grab of a multi-player mode. And it's a shame because the mercenaries stuff they had in RE2 would work so much better with the mechanics of 3. As it stands the multi-player can be fun and survivors can be enjoyable but it's so unbalanced and you can't really make a go of it alone unlike things like Dead by Daylight. And they've announced months of updates for it which all leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If the main game had a proper clock tower segment with the tentacle Nemesis fight I'd be less harsh on it, but as it stands the best part of Resident Evil Resistance is that I didn't need to download it to play the real game
For anyone playing Resistance on a PS4 Pro, make sure you turn your console display settings to 1080p before starting the game, and turn off upscaling if you're already on a 1080p display. You'll get much closer to 60fps than the horrible 24fps slideshow you get normally.
I feel I had enough of the game between the demo and reading/watching others playthroughs of the game, mind you RE3 was always the classic that interested me the least so I'm not surprised, but seeing Nemesis so underutilized after how they treated Mr. X last year feels like a waste.
Not endorsing this, but RE3 Remake is easy and short enough that a Steam gamer can buy the game and do a complete run through of the single player well under two hours and ask for a refund.

I beat this game in like 5 hours first go, that said I love the game I couldn’t put it down I planned to play it for a couple hours, and I just couldn’t put it down I wanted to keep going, that said it was a bit short especially for a first go through there needs to be some more content patched in

@@Jose-se9pu If you're into classic Resident Evil, there is plenty of replay value. Getting unlockables, speed running, and refining your tactics. There's not a year that goes by that I dont play through the classic RE's, Metal Gear Solid, and Parasite Eve.

Man, the hunters! Thank you for bringing them up! I was having a very comfortable time until I hit those freaking hunters with their instant death swipe. Talk about a jump in difficulty! Thankfully the shotgun is great for beating them.
yeah not worth the full price, after buying the 2 remake at full price and being kind of disappointed(not gameplay of course, but too many changes/cuts and no scenarios) i waited for sales on this one and it was the right move. No choices dueirng the game, jill was alwayis a strong woman but the way she talks to carlos is just annoying "i know what a radio is" that deserved a a backhand slap on the mouth, smells too much of woman power. Carlos is just another character, you may prefere it, i don't like when they change it too much, also didn't put the scene with murphy, could have had nikolai shoot any random person turning into a zombie nd have carlos kill murphy. mikail is okay they jut added to the character. Nikolai is cool but in the end he's kind of an idiot and they changed his motivations, bad. Tyrell is cool, but again another character all together, why not make another character be the good mate who's going to die? they changed brad, he's supposed to be a coward i don't care if everybody prefere his eroic sacrifice, also him being killed by nemeis was iconic for me and there was no reason to cut it. Nemesis looks cool enough, not a fan of the teash bag dress, the mask at the start is cool, the face again was iconic no need to change it, and after seeing the flamethrower i was really disappointed he didn't brng out the minigun, the transformatio while cool it's just not nemesis, in the end he's a tyrant, those big transformation are morea g virus thing, expecially the last trasformation. Also no usa soldiers in the end, and most important of all NO FUCKING BARRY BURTON
I prefer the original RE3 over the Remake. The city exploration, puzzles and Nemesis encounters were abundant in that game! Here, it's like the devs cut out a little bit of everything. Not as much to see or do, compared to the original. Still a fun game though. Perfect dodging never gets old.
RE3: nemesis for ps1 was also 6+ hours for the main campaign, i don't know what people were expecting, RE1/RE: remake and RE2/RE2: remake have 2 campaigns, RE3 was just a quick expansion for RE2. The only down side in the Remake for me is the fact that they keep the Nemesis encounter mechanic way too close to the PS1 counter part.
A shame for Nemesis, never once I had a "man will he be around the corner" moment and that's unfortunate. Also, can't say I enjoyed playing as Carlos...twice. Almost feels like I spent more time playing as him than Jill and when I think of RE3 I think of Jill and not Carlos.
I think you overexaggerated the threat of Nemesis. He isn't much of one. A single grenade does him in on Hardcore. He's a glass cannon and outside of the opening city area, he doesn't roam around and is set to scripted sequences for the rest of the game. He doesn't live up to the expectation that Mr. X set up in RE2R and he certainly doesn't compare to the original Nemesis either. Also, the Mixing Tool, now called the Crafting Companion is in the game. You have to unlock it via the bonus shop.
Updating RE4 is kinda redundant. I'm sure they can make it shine but it was literally the closest ideal before 7 and the remakes. I hope they don't skip Code Veronica.
@Cyberdemon Mike, Did not do it in one day or at launch. Spaced out over a period of 4 days. It took around 18 hours and about 2 of those were using a few saves to grind weapon and overall kill challenges to unlock the fun stuff. Check yourself how easy it is to 100% This game's achievements/trophies. Its already has a higher achievement completion percentage than RE2 Remake and that's already 1 year old. RE3 is only 1 week old now since release. RE2 Remake felt way more satisfying thanks to the extra challenge of S+ Hardcore to unlock infinite ammo rocket launcher and mini gun.
I somehow knew Johnny was gonna love this one. It may be a bit lacking in parts but it is the personification of fun, a game I've already beaten 7 times and will probably play at least once or twice a year for decades. Love this game
@@mikecentral2077 there's no doubt that it's fun, but it just doesn't capture the charm of the original--nothing innovative except for the amazing visuals. With todays tech it should have been incredible, but instead we got a good game that isn't as great as the previous re2remake.

My feelings are with Johnny on this one, both for the game and what he'd like Capcom to do from here on. Code Veronica needs a new coat of paint more than any other classic Resident Evil game so if Capcom were to do another remake, I'd rather they knock out CV and then just move on to RE8. RE4 has aged like a fine wine and while it'd be cool to see RE1 remade again in the RE Engine, the already existing remake is so perfect that they shouldn't really bother. I'm more interested to see how Capcom wants to progress things following RE7 than seeing the entire catalogue get remade for the next decade.
I don't know if this was mentioned, but January Van Sant's character appearance is based on Sheri Nicole. ... not sure why they went the extra mile for a character that isn't part of the RE/Biohazard Continuity. Also, RE0 needs a freaking remake. There, said it.

The rogue-like item stuff is included on higher difficulties just fyi, on nightmare and inferno difficulty the items move around, not sure to what degree as I haven't played it myself but that's what's been told to me
I've played through both and yes they do randomize some items and change/add enemies. But, if you play Nightmare, you've basically played Inferno too.
Inferno just breaks the balance of the enemies health levels compared to the players which is greatly reduced.
Nightmare is arguably the best difficulty to play on. Too bad it's locked behind a Hardcore run and completing these higher difficulties does grant unlocks like S+ runs in RE2 Remake.

I feel that Nemesis is just the SA-X from Metroid Fusion. Leads to scary encounters but doesn't give you much looming paranoia.
Yeah, I was getting a ton of Fusion vibes with the way Nemesis works. This game also reminds a lot of Zero Mission in that it's incredibly short, but fun to replay and speed run.
I'd say there's plenty of paranoia on that first playthrough.

The most over the top depiction of Nicholai was in 2012's Operation Raccoon City.

This Nicholai breaks his own character and even the writers don't seem to know why, especially when he destroys the vaccine. 1999 Nicholai would never be this dumb.
Better ending idea, Nicholai escapes in that chopper with the vaccine and just when things seem over for Jill and Carlos, the legend himself Barry Burton shows up to save them in another helicopter. Awesome.
Also, Nicholai does not have the same monetary incentive to kill Jill as 1999 original Nicholai either. He's not even working for Umbrella as a Supervisor agent.
Remake Nicholai is just Albert Wesker betraying Umbrella but worse.

But, when this distance shit ends, I plan on getting the RE3 Remake. I have the remakes for the original RE, RE0, both on the PS4, RE4, and the RE2 Remake. I had the original RE2 on the n64 back in 1998, which my dad helped me beat, as Leon. And they made Ada hotter in the RE2 remake, which I didn't think was possible... and they made Claire hotter too, and Jill looks even better than in the original RE3. I may not have played the original RE3, but I have the Resident Evil Archive book, which covers RE0-CV, and talks about the characters too, and the zombies and Nemesis and Mr. X, the creepy stalking motherfucker, who's Leon's final boss in 2, and gets killed halfway through Claire's story after she rescues Sherry from the creepy police chief, Brian Irons. Can't wait to see how creepy the RE3 Remake is. Now, we just need a Code Veronica remake... I've played through 4, 5, 6, The Umbrella Chronicles, and The Darkside Chronicles, as well as both Revelations games, but not 7. Can't thank you or John enough. Hear me out please John, you know how convoluted the entire history of the RE series is story wise? I think this is them trying to soft reboot and this is why they are doing all the mainline, numbered titles in remakes, to also additionally, streamline and make a main story, I think they are honestly trying to wash away all the polarization of the past few games with this.
How would you feel if that was exactly what they were doing?
Yeah, RE7 already felt like a soft reboot of previous RE canon that honestly concluded with RE5 in 2009 with the death of Albert Wesker and Spencer.
But it does feel like RE2 Remake and RE3 Remake especially are more reboots than an actual remake like RE1 Remake 2002 was.
But Code Veronica IS a main series game. And the Revelations duology is more of a sequel to 4 and 5 than 6 will ever be

People only hated 6 for its gameplay and overexaggerated how bad it is. 5 was a complete joke when you ONLY consider story alone and nothing else. Wesker shouldnt have been the main villain and its painful seeing how awesome Jill is in RE3renake only to see how she ends up in RE5 (slap in the face to her fans) with stupid writing for her. I PASSIONATELY HATE RE5 and I can sit here all day and counter anything bad about RE6 with something RE5 did WAAAY worse.

I had a dream that Johnny narrated my life and I woke up to realize I had fallen asleep to his vs playlist last night.
I like the new Tyrell, wasn't expecting him to be more than just a guy that tags along
I expected him to be a slimy bastard, I didn’t think I’d feel genuinely BAD when he died. I was pleasantly surprised.

@@urbiznesnunuv6938 Yeah, same here. I didn't expect much from this new version of Tyrell, but, damn; they really gave him some personality this time! Same with Brad! I wasn't expecting that. And I never played the original RE3. But, I do have the Resident Evil Archive book, and I've read it, like hundreds of times, and I've read the character's profiles and the story synopsis of RE3, and it's characters, like a lot. And, I've seen people play it, both with and without commentary. So, while I didn't get a chance to play the original, I love what they did with Jill, Carlos, and Tyrell in this version. Didn't expect to care about Tyrell, and didn't think he'd be a main character this time. He wasn't even a little bit like he was in the original game. In the original, he was selfish, and a got blown up by a safe, while leaving his teammates to die. But in this one, he actually did things, to help Carlos and Jill, and he had some good lines, too. Especially the part where both him and Carlos go to the R.P.D., and on the way, he's making fun of Carlos, and teasing him because it looked like he was trying to ask Jill out. I genuinely felt bad when he got killed by Nemesis too, dude. But Murphy and Dario? They got screwed over the same way Ben did in the RE2 remake. I know, they both die anyways, but with Murphy, we got to know about him. He was like Marvin in RE2. Infected, but a tragic character. Who gets gunned down by Carlos, after turning into a zombie. And Dario, he panics and hides in a warehouse, and Jill tried to get him to come with her to the cable car, but he's obviously panicking and not in the mood to talk. He just lost his entire family, his mom, his wife, his daughter, all eaten by zombies. And he also had a tragic backstory in the original. He wanted to be a novelist, but his mom would only tell him he had a long way to go, and he became a salesman instead of following his dream. And in the end, uncontrollable fear sends him panicking to his death, being eaten by zombies. But in this version? Nothing. You don't go back to the warehouse. He's just mad, and tells you to go away. That's it. Lame. Luckily, I already knew his sad backstory. So, I wasn't pissed. I already knew what happened to him anyways. And, yeah, I felt bad; seeing Brad sacrificing himself to save Jill in the beginning, getting infected, and later, infecting Marvin, too, showing us, how in a genius moment, how he fucked up, and got infected in the RE2 remake. But yeah, when I killed him as Carlos, I felt bad. This and the RE2 remake, are how you do remakes, of games that are already great. Except the pale heads. Fuck those things, they're like the Regenarators from 4, but it's like fighting them without the infrared sniper scope. Sorry for the long rant.

Why are they even there?! I just spammed the dodge button, because I wasted almost all of my ammo trying to kill them. I save the grenades for the hunter gammas, those ugly pale frog motherfuckers, who can eat you whole. And just the other hunters; like the ones in the hospital. Fuck... I hate them. The pale heads, and the hunter gamma variation. Didn't have as much trouble with regular hunters this time. I hated them so much, as Carlos, I tried to punch one. It didn't work... but I tried. That's how much I hate them. I also tried to punch the lickers in the police station as Carlos too. Also didn't work, but I did use a grenade, and killed them that way. I hate the lickers too. Tough in 2 and 3.

For the record, Jon, the hunters seem to do the instakill attack exclusively with their left claw, and they tense to pounce with their left claw held out before they strike. Subtle as hell and it took several playthroughs before I could read it, but it's there.

One of the only things I can even think to add would be the ability to move and shoot at the same time as that is probably one of the only things re-releases have lacked. But yeah I can't think of what the hell else they could do, remaking RE4 sounds pointless but it still leaves me with a lot of morbid curiosity.
Remake Dino Crisis 1 1st, then Code Veronica, and maybe RE4 later.
32-bit games made sense because many newer gamers wouldn't go back that far, and controls really hurt for those younger gamers. Anything past Code Veronica though seems pointless and a waste of money.

We just need to keep our distances from everyone and remain at home as much as possible and hopefully by a month or two the virus is contained. It's definitely a serious matter but It's not the end of the world everyone think it is, the news media loves to dramatize everything which personal just makes things worse for everyone. Not saying we should go back out to shake strangers hands again as of now, but this isn't the Ebola virus like everyone is making it out to be. There had been more deadly pandemics and more contagious and deadly viruses then corona.

I mean, I personally don’t agree that it’s “better” per se. Maybe because I’ve beaten the original close to 20 times but this one just feels weaker. I still really enjoyed my time playing it but the level of strategy that the original had in terms of ammo crafting to be able to beat Nemesis at every chase sequence and STILL have enough ammo for the unavoidable boss fights (1st run mind you) just isn’t present in this one. It doesn’t really feel like a survival horror game compared to the original or REmake 2 but...That being said, I still think my first go at it was pretty fun. While it was certainly watered down and too linear, I did think that the way that they handled Jill and Carlos was PERFECT. Hell, like you said, it was pretty awesome that they gave Tyrell something to do other than getting killed by Nikolai. But on its own, I don’t personally understand the backlash.

I missed the freeze rounds in this one. They replaced them with the shitty mine rounds that are only good for that lame boss fight where he's running around the buildings.

Zombie gore was heavily watered down. I know why. More zombies means that they needed to be less detailed just to make the game run. But if the waited to port this to the next generation, then maybe we could have gotten more zombies with the same amount of gore
Also with Nemesis having a nose, where did it go when he evolved?
I believe Nikolai deserved worse, the nuke explosion was too fast of a way to go for someone like him.

It's a great game, surely, but it only came out 15 years ago. CV came out in like, 1999, didn't it? That needs a remake first. More Claire Redfield isn't a bad thing... and, maybe they can fix Steve Burnside's character, like they did in The Darkside Chronicles game? Where he was played by Sam Riegel? Much better, to me. Except the jolly green giant boss fight... still love RE4 though. Loved the sexy outfits for Ashley at least. Like the sexy suit of armor, or her sexy pop diva outfit... or Leon's sexy R.P.D. outfit from RE2? Or Ada's sexy spy outfit? How are they going to remake those outfits? I liked Luis, except the part where he'd kill you in the house, if you shot him too much. Still, he was my 2nd favorite RE4 character. The first being Leon, obviously. The Merchant and Ada were tied for 3rd. Krauser was 4th, Wesker 5th,, 6th was H.U.N.K, 7th was Ashley, 8th was Saddler, and 9th was Salazar. Honorable Mentions to the 2 Spanish cops who drive Leon out to the Spanish village, and get killed by the plagas infected villagers, and the dog Leon rescues, who helps him against the El Gigante, and, Bitores Mendes, The Village Chief, who was basically like Mr. X in this game. You guys think they'll be improved in the remake of 4, or can they not improve on perfection, with 4?

I'm on the disappointment train. They removed too much content from the original game, the structure is too lineal, there are nearly no puzzles and Nemesis feels under-utilized. Oh, and no Mercenaries mode. It's a 6.5/10 at most.

Jill's is purposely changed to not upset the anti can service mobs and Carlos' doesn't even give him his classic 1999 UBCS uniform. It's literally a shave and a hair cut lmao.
Worse still, if you didn't pre order it, there's only one extra costume to unlock through boring grinding. Most of the original unlockable costumes, including Dino Crisis Regina, has been cut. Their not even sold separately like RE2 Remake.
At least on pc, modders are doing a better job with extra costumes. But, that's arguably the worst way to buy it as with any digital version you cannot resell it like a physical copy and it has anti customer DRM at launch.
Capcom definitely rushed it compared to RE2 Remake. I find it extremely interesting how there's been no extra dlc or announcement for single player focused content dlc for RE3 Remake.
All I've seen is the game got a very mixed reception, it apparently sold half as many copies at launch in the UK as RE2 Remake, Capcom announced new stuff for Project Resistance, rumors for RE8, an official online survey from Capcom that can be completed in English asking fans if they want more remakes or even new RE games, and finally RE4 remake rumors.
Capcom is usually very quick to push dlc and expansions, they did so with RE7 and even RE2 Remake.
Seeing Johnny exercising is part of the quality content I come here for.
But sadly, I can't think of what do say about the actual remake itself, I must still be seeing *stars.*
I'm kinda disappointed they're remaking Resi 4 instead of Code: Veronica, maybe Capcom thought it would be poetic to release Resi 8 (VIIIage sounds kinda silly to me) alongside the game started the infected village setting.
Kinoksis I'm not surprised capcom is skipping code Veronica because they always act like it doesn't exist and it was one of my favorite RE games. I just can't believe they going to remake re4 tho like why that game doesn't need one maybe in 10 years I can understand but not now. The game still holds up even to this day. I'd figure the original Dino Crisis would be in far more demand for a remake, hailing back to the original PS1 days of horror still, than either Resident Evil 4 or Veronica, but eh :P

Fabiano confirmed RE3 remake is already completed and they are not going to be doing anymore with it. The single player campaign was great; RE3 was never a big project CAPCOM was ever concerned with to begin with, which is unfortunate because it is also rich in RE history.
I really hope that Capcom remakes Resident Evil 1 again but this time with the third person camera angle from the remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3.
The reloading tool is actually still in the game, just has to be purchased w the in-game points after you beat the game.

The whole point of brad's demise in the original was to set not only the appearance, but the goal of nemesis, to eliminate S.T.A.R.S members. Brad death was to zombies with Nemesis nowhere in site...
Nemesis didn't get a single STARS kill, way to ruin the scare factor of an iconic monster Capcom.
Plus Brad already did redeem himself all the way back in both RE1 1996 and the 2002 RE1 Remake. He immediately regretted abandoning his fellow STARS and returned to see if their still alive.
He literally saves Jill, Chris, Rebecca, and Barry at the end and gives the player the means to destroy the Tyrant.
Honestly, him taking off was probably the Smartest move. (cowardly but smart)

I stand by the statement people are streching the term "Remake" way to far now when it comes to games.
RE:1 got a remake. Games like RE:2, RE:3 and FF7 got a treatment that is very much straying from the word remake with how much content is being changed, removed, and or altered from the gameplay mechanics down the story. I think the word reimagining is much better because it would have set a proper amount of expectations for the game instead of expecting a proper remake like RE:1 got in which it kept all the core elements from the story an game play and only adjusted minor things from graphsics, inventory, Menus, and Control methods that are used.
RE: 1 is how you do a remake.
RE 2, 3, and FF7 "Remakes" are how you do a recreation of an idea in a drasticly different way that is more fitting of a reimagining or reboot like Tomb Raid 2013 was: keep the basic conceptual idea, and then change, remove, and or alter LITERALY everything making no longer similar to the orginal. Besides characters an some plot beats.

The clocktower and graveyard cuts kind of suck, and I would still have jill go to the rpd instesd, and also add in the randomizer. Overall still good, but less than re2.
About 1/3 or more of the original game was cut.
Carlos going to the RPD felt like padding, lazy, and continuity breaking given how he cleans up a lot of the station.
RE3 1999 RPD trip served a far better purpose by: introducing Nemesis as an organic Terminator capable of wiping out the remaining STARS, a little RE2 fan service, give ya an RNG weapon pick up, and a few holy crap Nemesis chase moments.

@Mr.Ridley, I agree. Resident Evil 2 Remake was my game of the year for 2019. My only real criticism was the B scenarios and A/B continuity was not as good as RE2 1998.
But RE3 Remake goes way too cut happy, especially cutting Mercenaries. That's like cutting 4th Survivor and Tofu Survivor from RE2.
theres already a randomizer in RE3R,its called nightmare and inferno mode,you unlock those after finishing hardcore mode,then finishing nightmare mode to unlock inferno,those modes are like a redacted version with certain things changed around .
Enemies have been reorganised,like you might find a zombie or other creature where there wasnt before in standard/hardcore,some places might have more enemies and certain creatures you see later in the game show up much earlier.
Also enemies are faster,especially Nemesis wich running speed is about twice as fast.
Items are also reorganised kinda like the randomizer mode in the N64 version of RE2.
And a few more surprises were added.
Jhonny loved RE3, now I look forward to him reviewing re5 and re6.

Even from earlier trailers/gameplay, Mastermind looked like the only fun class to play. I also hear the game does not use dedicated servers, so losing Masterminds end the match if they quit.
I really do think Capcom could've used the Mastermind idea for a bonus single player focused content in RE3 Remake.
Still to this day, I'd love to see a full single player RE game starring Hunk, the USS, or UBCS.
Hunk especially keeps getting shafted.
@@Gruntvc with the exclusion of a mercenaries mode the game feels like it got shafted to take time for this unbalanced cash grab of a multi-player mode. And it's a shame because the mercenaries stuff they had in RE2 would work so much better with the mechanics of 3. As it stands the multi-player can be fun and survivors can be enjoyable but it's so unbalanced and you can't really make a go of it alone unlike things like Dead by Daylight. And they've announced months of updates for it which all leaves a bad taste in my mouth. If the main game had a proper clock tower segment with the tentacle Nemesis fight I'd be less harsh on it, but as it stands the best part of Resident Evil Resistance is that I didn't need to download it to play the real game

For anyone playing Resistance on a PS4 Pro, make sure you turn your console display settings to 1080p before starting the game, and turn off upscaling if you're already on a 1080p display. You'll get much closer to 60fps than the horrible 24fps slideshow you get normally.
I feel I had enough of the game between the demo and reading/watching others playthroughs of the game, mind you RE3 was always the classic that interested me the least so I'm not surprised, but seeing Nemesis so underutilized after how they treated Mr. X last year feels like a waste.
It's bloody borderline criminal.
Not endorsing this, but RE3 Remake is easy and short enough that a Steam gamer can buy the game and do a complete run through of the single player well under two hours and ask for a refund.

I beat this game in like 5 hours first go, that said I love the game I couldn’t put it down I planned to play it for a couple hours, and I just couldn’t put it down I wanted to keep going, that said it was a bit short especially for a first go through there needs to be some more content patched in

@@Jose-se9pu If you're into classic Resident Evil, there is plenty of replay value. Getting unlockables, speed running, and refining your tactics. There's not a year that goes by that I dont play through the classic RE's, Metal Gear Solid, and Parasite Eve.

I was having a very comfortable time until I hit those freaking hunters with their instant death swipe. Talk about a jump in difficulty!

yeah not worth the full price, after buying the 2 remake at full price and being kind of disappointed(not gameplay of course, but too many changes/cuts and no scenarios) i waited for sales on this one and it was the right move. No choices dueirng the game, jill was alwayis a strong woman but the way she talks to carlos is just annoying "i know what a radio is" that deserved a a backhand slap on the mouth, smells too much of woman power. Carlos is just another character, you may prefere it, i don't like when they change it too much, also didn't put the scene with murphy, could have had nikolai shoot any random person turning into a zombie nd have carlos kill murphy. mikail is okay they jut added to the character. Nikolai is cool but in the end he's kind of an idiot and they changed his motivations, bad. Tyrell is cool, but again another character all together, why not make another character be the good mate who's going to die? they changed brad, he's supposed to be a coward i don't care if everybody prefere his eroic sacrifice, also him being killed by nemeis was iconic for me and there was no reason to cut it. Nemesis looks cool enough, not a fan of the teash bag dress, the mask at the start is cool, the face again was iconic no need to change it, and after seeing the flamethrower i was really disappointed he didn't brng out the minigun, the transformatio while cool it's just not nemesis, in the end he's a tyrant, those big transformation are morea g virus thing, expecially the last trasformation. Also no usa soldiers in the end, and most important of all NO FUCKING BARRY BURTON
That ending was one of my favorite moments from you in recent time.
I prefer the original RE3 over the Remake. The city exploration, puzzles and Nemesis encounters were abundant in that game! Here, it's like the devs cut out a little bit of everything. Not as much to see or do, compared to the original. Still a fun game though. Perfect dodging never gets old.

RE3: nemesis for ps1 was also 6+ hours for the main campaign, i don't know what people were expecting, RE1/RE: remake and RE2/RE2: remake have 2 campaigns, RE3 was just a quick expansion for RE2. The only down side in the Remake for me is the fact that they keep the Nemesis encounter mechanic way too close to the PS1 counter part.
A shame for Nemesis, never once I had a "man will he be around the corner" moment and that's unfortunate. Also, can't say I enjoyed playing as Carlos...twice. Almost feels like I spent more time playing as him than Jill and when I think of RE3 I think of Jill and not Carlos.
I think you overexaggerated the threat of Nemesis. He isn't much of one. A single grenade does him in on Hardcore. He's a glass cannon and outside of the opening city area, he doesn't roam around and is set to scripted sequences for the rest of the game. He doesn't live up to the expectation that Mr. X set up in RE2R and he certainly doesn't compare to the original Nemesis either.
Also, the Mixing Tool, now called the Crafting Companion is in the game. You have to unlock it via the bonus shop.

@Cyberdemon Mike, Did not do it in one day or at launch. Spaced out over a period of 4 days. It took around 18 hours and about 2 of those were using a few saves to grind weapon and overall kill challenges to unlock the fun stuff.
Check yourself how easy it is to 100% This game's achievements/trophies. Its already has a higher achievement completion percentage than RE2 Remake and that's already 1 year old. RE3 is only 1 week old now since release.
RE2 Remake felt way more satisfying thanks to the extra challenge of S+ Hardcore to unlock infinite ammo rocket launcher and mini gun.

I somehow knew Johnny was gonna love this one. It may be a bit lacking in parts but it is the personification of fun, a game I've already beaten 7 times and will probably play at least once or twice a year for decades. Love this game

My feelings are with Johnny on this one, both for the game and what he'd like Capcom to do from here on. Code Veronica needs a new coat of paint more than any other classic Resident Evil game so if Capcom were to do another remake, I'd rather they knock out CV and then just move on to RE8. RE4 has aged like a fine wine and while it'd be cool to see RE1 remade again in the RE Engine, the already existing remake is so perfect that they shouldn't really bother. I'm more interested to see how Capcom wants to progress things following RE7 than seeing the entire catalogue get remade for the next decade.
