Great video! I have been combining my Renogy and my home smart features to enable advanced control. Currently have my house setup for "Google... I'm going camping" it sets thermostat 10F higher in AC and 10F lower in heating (depending on season). Then it shuts off household water, turns off water heater, and shuts off all power to computers, tv's and lamps. I have the reverse for when I'm home or on my way home. Now I just need to get google home assistant to setup the RV as well! The last feature I have been working on is to say "I'm taking a trip for ___ days" and it sets a schedule to turn on water and water heater the day we are returning, and restore the thermostat. its nice to see this getting into the RV/camping world!
Hey folks, for anyone having connection issues between the Renogy ONE Core, and the Smart Shunt 300, try manually updating the Firmware by doing the following: > Go to Settings > System > About > Check for updates > Update The Core will restart, click Add Device, then pairing with the Smart Shunt should be immediate. Remember the Core will have to be connected to wifi in order to do this.
So the temp humidity sensor require connection to a WiFi network to work? I can live with having to set them up when I'm at home and have a Wi-Fi connection, but if I'm in my RV I seldom am on Wi-Fi. Same question for the DC relay. Expand on their use or usefulness for the times when you're off-grid that would be helpful.
Sure, no prob. You don't need wifi for any of the smart accessories (Temp/humid sensor or Smart Relay, etc.) to work with the Core, they connect using Zigbee (sort of like a fancy Bluetooth). You ONLY need wifi so that the Core can talk to the DC Home app on the phone. So, if you are away from the rig and want to check or change something, the Core needs wifi, and your phone needs a signal. The app on your phone is like a remote, remote control. Upon initial set up, the app helps you program all the scenes. So, if you've done all of your programming before going boondocking, things just run whether you are online or off, no need to connect to anything . Should you need to tweak something you could always connect the Core to your phone's hotspot, so that they can talk. We are amazed at how few places we don't find some phone service anymore. If you find some, let us know! 😂
So I can't connect my Renogy non-Smart 500A shunt to the Renogy ONE CORE? What about my 3000W Renogy inverter/charger? Can you hardwire that to the ONE CORE? Thanks for you videos; very informative and helpful.
Nope, the 500A is just a shunt w/o any way to connect to the Renogy ONE Core. I am not sure which model of 3000W inv/charger you have but that should connect via BT module, or hard-wired. If you have other components, Charge Controller, or DC to DC charger, the communication hub can take many inputs and connect to the Core with BT module or hard wired. Hope that helps!
i want to create a solar dump to my water heater via a plug or relay. is that possible? i have renogy core, smart shunt and 12V/24V IP67 50A DC-DC Battery Charger with MPPT. Will one of these accessories, trigger a plug or relay, when my battery is full
interesting, so you want to be able to set up a relay to come on, which would turn on the water heater, when the battery is at 100%? Lemme ask the Rengineers about this one and see what we can mess with?
@@FreedomInACan thats exactly it. i currently dont have any smart accessories, so i cant test. also, do you have to pay for subscription to use their smart accessories? plugs/relays...etc?
Got it. And no, you don't have to purchase a subscription plan to use these accessories, online or offline. The plan is only necessary if you want to track specific parameters, like solar planning, historical data, and if you want to control several different Core monitors from the same place.
hey sorry for the late reply, thanks so much for the offer it was for 12v i only had a black and white printed wiring diagram for it so it was extremely confusing. all is good now though since I got the proper one. thanks so much happy new year! @@FreedomInACan
@@ThreeDayRV No, not at all. We just had some trouble with it connecting to the CORE, which we fixed with a firmware update download. Also wish that the Smart Shunt displayed on the home screen of the Core instead of having to go click on it. We were seeing if Renogy had a timeline to fix that in the software before we commented in the video. To be honest, the holidays set everything back by about 3 weeks. Happy New Year!

@@Matt-ts7oe You're welcome! This should do the trick. Let us know if you have any further questions.
Can you tell me more about the humidity and temperature sensor along with this relay? Thank you.
Sure, what specifically would you like to know?
How do you set the temperature?
I see how to do it , thanks for a great video
Great! Thanks for the comment!

What happened to your Renogy smart shunt video?
TBH, we're trying to get out some clarification on what we've been seeing with its performance, before we put it out there.

If you want a honest review, type in travels and tech in UA-cam. Only works correctly with Renogy batteries. What a piece of trash.
