    My mother who's 88, remembers as a child in Austria when the Nazi's came, one day playing with her friends, the next they'd disappeared. No one knew where they'd gone.
    She still has nightmares if there's a thunderstorm, about bombing raids and tells of the times her brothers and she would go out and cover up the bodies with whatever came to hand. She was 6 when it the started.
    What have we learned since then?

    • @dee7353
      @dee7353 3 роки тому +16

      Bless your mother. Children are being taught that communism is the way. They are being taught to ban history they don’t like and to ban people they don’t like, even putting those people into camps if they don't agree with them. I read it daily on Twitter. They aren’t kidding. They say those who believe in freedom must be dealt with. If you don’t wear a mask for the rest of your life you are dangerous. This is why many schools no longer teach correct history. They call people Nazis while saying Hitler’s think was correct think. I see where this is going and it terrifies me.

      Humans tend to stick to the same areas and paths . So if every person (or any other large animal) ever to exist left a line on the map showing where they had been, there would still be lots of blank areas. Technically there are many places near you (maybe not if you are in the middle of a city) that no person ever has walked over but only passed by.

      I'm the grandchild of Jewish Holocaust survivors from Florence, Italy. Every year we have a religious celebration at the Synagogue called Yom Ha Shoah (meaning day of remembrance for the Shoah), and there's also a national holiday on January 27th, anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. During the national holiday the Roma community, which is quite numerous, is invited and joins us. We march from the Synagogue to the train station, where a sign marks the tracks that were used to deport prisoners, some pray, some sing, some put flowers and some others are just quiet. Survivors tell their stories and we feel as one family of humans, the way it should be. Whether we call it Holocaust, Porajmos or Shoah it was first and foremost a literal crime against everything that is human and we have to remember it.

    How absoutely tragically horrific. That really brought things home. Seeing that place & hearing the words from the journal. Quite chilling. That affected me more than any horror movie ever has. I feel nauseous & terrified. I could not help imagining the events, seeing the place where it happened. That is an incredibly powerful clip of a programme. Should be shown in every school. I feel shaken & sad.

    I’ve seen the entire documentary and the story this woman told was so sad. My heart hurt when she said at the end of it that, despite everything he did to her and her siblings, she didn’t hate Josef Mengele because he let them live. I can’t even imagine. It’s been a few years since I saw it and she still pops into my head at the oddest times.

    This was incredibly interesting, there are many aspects of the Holocaust that need to be divulged and properly understood. On a different note, if there was a Nobel Prize for most random video title (without context), this one would win it no problem!

    *Een Waardeloos Leven* - het is de titel van mijn autobiografie en ook al weet ik nu dat er me niets te verwijten valt, gewoon al vertellen wat er gebeurd is zal heel wat onzichtbare patronen bloot leggen ... Mensen kunnen zich niet voorstellen waar ik doorheen gegaan ben en lang heeft het idee dat er ooit een kentering zou zijn me op de been gehouden, maar zoals vaak, haak ik dan plots en definitief af - dit heeft GEEN ENKELE zin ... neem nu de zonnepanelen - men heeft de mensen die investering laten doen met de belofte dat ze ook een beloning zouden krijgen voor de extra energie, die ze zelf niet gebruikten en dat rammelt aan alle kanten, want er zitten heel wat denkfouten in het concept en buiten dat, moet het GELIJK een stukje extra budget geven, dus is het alleen zinvol als je daarmee de rekening omlaag krijgt (want al de rest was er alleen maar om je over die laatste brug te krijgen). Ik schreef dit al op mijn Facebook blog, maar een paar etters vonden het nodig om mijn account keer op keer te laten blokkeren en alles bij mekaar genomen, heb ik maar een echt account gehad tussen januari 2014 en augustus 2015, dus veel zal er niet aan de vleeshaak zijn blijven hangen. Op vrijdag, 5 maart, beleef ik de 22.222ste dag van mijn leven, een waardeloos leven dus, want altijd haalt men oude wonden weer open zodat het allemaal oké lijkt, ook al gooit men zaken in het water, die straks het verschil hadden kunnen maken tussen vervelend en catastrofaal. Ik probeer tot de mensen door te dringen, maar ze vatten het niet en buiten dat, is er sprake van een opgezet spel, waar men de controle over kwijt geraakt is. Zolang ik leef, kan men met twee maten en gewichten werken, maar ben ik dood, dat is ook mijn energie weg, dus zit men met de NAAKTE waarheid dat er wel opties waren, maar niemand vond het de moeite om daar z'n energie in te steken. Ik herinner me levens zoals ik me films herinner, goede films kan men -tig keren zien en nog altijd ontdekt men een detail dat men de vorige keren over het hoofd zag. Ik ben stervende, maar op een tergend trage manier, zodat ik een uitgebreide versie van mijn leven kan bekijken en vandaag bleef ik hangen bij The Boston Tea Party, want eigenlijk komt het op hetzelfde neer. Men gooide de thee bewust in het water, en zo zat iedereen zonder thee en moesten ze wachten tot er een nieuwe lading was. Natuurlijk kan men zonder thee leven, ook zonder sigaretten of restaurants, maar zulke dingen kunnen net dat tikkeltje meer geven dat jij nodig had toen je op de brug stond en besefte dat je een waardeloos leven had. Als niemand me nu mist en de zorg navenant is, wat voor een verschil zou het dan nog maken als ik in de nacht van 5 op 6 maart sterf, dus kies ik voor de goedkoopste oplossing, ik geef mijn lichaam aan de wetenschap en die moeten de overschot dan maar op hun kosten cremeren, hebben de kinderen er ook geen last meer van. Misschien wordt het tijd om eens een vinger te leggen op die wonde, want met dat hypocriet gedoe komen we ook geen stap verder, ik MAG best gewaardeerd worden voor ALLES wat ik voor EEN ANDER gedaan heb, ook al zat daar een verwijt in verweven, want alles heeft zo z'n prijs en te laat is meestal over and out, dus had men me moeten BELONEN wanneer het voor mij een verschil zou maken, die standbeelden krijgen ook geen tweede leven omdat jij dat zo graag wil!
