    I actually grabbed 4 of this sensors, and it took me about 5 minutes and I was able to add this to zigbee without too much issue. I am going to put these around the house, so I am quite pleased.
    While I was setting this up I thought I might have to register it with Xiaomi, but no I was able to keep it all local.

    I had some of these that I got some time ago. Trying to flash directly to Zigbee raised an error that the firmware is >128k. so you must first flash to the latest BLE version. Once I had done this then zigbee firmware flashed no issues. I remember last time I did this, it's always best to completely close Chrome prior to trying to do anything with the device (I think it remains paired even when not appearing to be). So closed chrome and then started the zigbee discovery and was picked up immediately. Hope this helps.

    Do you have a measurement device to see the (very low) current draw difference between the two firmware’s? Working out how long the button cell will last is fairly important as the larger 2 AAA zigbee versions of this kind of sensor might be better in that dimension, replacing batteries is easy except when it’s 12 every n months.

    • @simonsayshomeassistant
      @simonsayshomeassistant  10 місяців тому

      Hi Bruce no I don't have a method for measuring the current draw. I will keep an eye on the battery levels. What I can say is that the Zigbee reporting frequency seems to be quite large, like 30 mins. Let's hope this means low current draw
