Thanks for this video, I’m working on getting an old ‘78 Chevy truck up and running healthy again, never changed the oil on one and wanted to find the oil filter before I did so tomorrow.
"I'm using the old man internal torque meter" haha nice. I use a wide variety of lazy young man internal meters but they're not as trusty I'd imagine lol
I use that oil too.... 240k on my xterra and going strong. Thanks for filming this, I know what a pain in the ass it is to film like you did, it probably added an hour to a 10 minute task.
You’re welcome. When I was going to change the oil, I checked to see if I had already done an oil change video on this truck, and I hadn’t. I didn’t really understand why I’ve never done this video until I tried to squeeze under there and get the oil filter off while also filming. There really isn’t very much room.
@@hoohoohoblin yeah we need to see an update on the undercoating and also the e-bike. I know it's a rare but did you ever find the person that stole your other bike?
The odometer broke on my truck at 240k miles like 5-10 years ago so I’m assuming it has like 300k miles and still running strong. It’s a 1988 Chevy 2500 4x4.
As said I also already know how but if you put out a 1995 K1500 video I’m going to watch. Great video if you haven’t done it. Might be good to mention the bolt head size on the plug in the notes at least. I don’t think it’s there. I use a 9/16 but there is probably a similar metric. Thanks for the video.
Super helpful video! I’m buying a 1996 c2500 that has been sitting for 4 years any recommendations on what I should do before starting it? Appreciate the help, definitely subscribing for more content!
Thanks. The guy at the auto parts store told me that they’ve had a lot of people come in to buy oil change supplies during the quarantine. I think people are getting bored and looking for things to do in their driveway.
Alright guys I gotta project car and I can not find where to put the oil In the car or the dip stick, I can’t find it anywhere. It’s a 1991 firebird with a swapped 350. There is just simply no place to put oil in and I cannot find it. It has different head covers( I think that’s what they’re called they have flames on them). I need help 😂
I have a 1991 chevy caprise recently purchased from auction wanting to get it running. I have charged the battery overnight and attempted to start. No cranking noise at all, everything else like lights and all work . Also wanting to know what fluid i am supposed to fill the tank underneath the alternator with ? Its completely empty
I have a Chevrolet 350 v8 engine, from the factory it says 30, I used the 40 pure mineral a lot today but I'm using the 20w 50 mineral what do you think, is my city very hot?
My 350 has the filter in the same spot as you but I’ve noticed some other 350’s have a filter that’s straight down and much easier to get at. I wonder what determines that?
is it better to use 10w40 or 5w30? mine is 2 years newer and it calls for 5w30, but i want to put oil in it that will last a long time. which would be better. mine has 217K so i need the high mileage oil.
I think it’s better to use the heavier oil. Especially when the engine is old. I’ve had really good luck with the high mileage oil stopping the engine from burning as much oil.
Killer video. Owned my 95 for ten years now. Nice watching a refresher video every once in awhile that’s videoed so well.
Glad I could help.

Genuinely enjoyed, watched, and learned. Thank you for your time brotha

Check the oil level on the engine oil dipstick.
You should show how you do everything if that’s intention
I have a 5.7 4wheel drive 2door tahoe can I use this video to do mines
Just got done changing the oil in my 1997 k1500 a few days ago. Great video

I have a 1997 Chevy Silverado K 1500 too and I went to go change the oil and I can’t find the fill cap. Did you know where it is ?
@@eligames3794 if you've got the 5.7 v8, look on the driver's side valve cover.
Old man internal torque meter! Love it
Thanks
when you aint gotta torque wrench.
How many miles on your Z71 ? Thank you for the video buy the way. I love your videos cause you’re not a presumptuous ego driven man.
Thanks. It has 129,000 miles on it.

So i could use 10w-40 or 5w-30 ??

I used 20 W 50 oil in my 1966 barracuda for a couple of decades, and it was fine. I think it’s OK to go with that viscosity.
do you have a link to the that filter wrench?
Autozone
Hey please say u still have this truck I have a good question
My 350 has the filter in the same spot as you but I’ve noticed some other 350’s have a filter that’s straight down and much easier to get at. I wonder what determines that?
If it has 4wd or not I’m assuming. Mine is straight down very easy to reach and it’s 2wd.
Nice 💯💯💯💯
Thanks
Your truck and I are the same age. 1995
Oil spill keeps the rust away
That’s true.

20w 50
The oil filter is the biggest pain in the ass!
Works on 91 ?
I think so. It’s pretty much the same engine.
Did you know that Fram filters are the worst filter made? Cut one open and cut a WIX open and compare. Fram is very cheaply made.
I don’t know. I went with a Purolator filter this time around.
It's actually really... REALLY SAD THAT THIS IS BECOMING A LOST SKILL.
Ok I want to learn so wtf is the problem
You need to be more detailed
