Grammatophyllum scriptum (dwarf)

Today's orchid is Grammatophyllum scriptum, the dwarf variety.
Grammatophyllum scriptum is an orchid species native to south east Asia and is found in low-lying coastal areas (sea level to 100 mt). In nature, it produces 3 foot-tall spikes with 75 to 100+ flowers each! The flowers are sweetly fragrant.
Due to their large size, plants are rarely found in cultivation outside botanical institutions. However, this is a dwarf variety of the species and it stays quite compact. Mine is currently only 10 inch tall, making it ideal for windowsill growers such as myself.
Grammatophyllum belongs to the same Subtribe as Cymbidium.
My orchid is slightly fragrant and to me it smells like oil based paint, the one you use for paintings on canvas.
