It's not right or left handed tuners, it's reversed gear 50-60's.
That's a coooooool bass man.
Great to see a review where it's about the bass and not the player's chops.
Actually I played a € 1800,- Fender P two months ago and it also turned the other way around.
They are called reverse tuners.

I hate signature guitars... just my two cents. Flea prob never played a MIM bass ; and they relic one and throw his name on it to sell units. I mean, he used to play a 1961 Jazz Bass... so I'm pretty sure his "signature" mim model gets left in the closet at home. Flea quote: "The greatest bass I've ever played is this '61 Fender Jazz Bass. It's just a magic bass"
He has actually played one of these at a live gig before.

I mean a concentric pot made in mexico with nitro finish, in a bad ass color, with a great sound, and it’s cheaper than your average road worn fender
