I envy the unbelievable space for the legs in the second row. I have a Kona 64 and this is great! This seems to be a passat, if you consider legroom. This car is well designed and should be succesful.
idk its not as cool and sporty looking as a Golf so i dont think that it will be that huge of a hit. Its a hit beacause business people can get it cheaper duo to tax stuff. I am sad they stopped with the e-Golf.
Compared to a Kona it's huge. But I was disappointed when comparing it to my golf. It feels way more airy, buy the leg room when sitting behind myself was not much different.

@Richard Wood the only downside with drum brakes that come to my mind could be overheating. In my former fossil PSA, the dealer said that most of the brake work is done by the front brakes, the rear brakes are only for stabilising the car during braking. Now with the ID, we have regen and lower top speeds, I reckon that the car doesn't push the drums to their limit. Steep slope in the mountains would be interesting here, but I'm sure that regen also helps here to keep the stress on the rear brakes low. So yes, this design by VW is indeed absolutely acceptable.

The ID3 isn’t slow. I would drive it fast, especially in and out of corners. I guess i would destroy the breaks pretty fast. Also when the EPS is on it will uses the rear breaks often. I think VW just wanted to replace some parts in the long run😂

The 19" tire circumference is only 0.6% larger compared to 18" tire The 20" tire is only 1.1% larger compared to 18" tire. Because they are the same width, the rolling resistance is very similar. A larger circumference is better for efficiency. A skinny tire with large diameter is best, such as with BMW i3 tire Fatter rubber does improve noise and comfort

I drove the plus as my first full ev experience(apart being passenger in a egolf - uber and drove a corolla hybrid ). I really like it, the smoothness of the acceleration, the response and power was great. Also very spacious and airy for the size. The ambient lights and the infotainment where great. I did not like the plastic in the doors, felt like the doors in a dacia. And also the dash display felt small and improvised. I would consider buying such a car especially in Romania it has a 10 k euro gov grant, for full ev, so the final price is something like 28 k euros for the mid spec. It is missing lumbar support dough... . Keep up the good work !

Der ECO in the AC Menu appears always when the passenger seat is not in use. Here AC ALWAYS saves energy. The ECO in the AC menu is a more general setting for the AC.
It is the same in other VW cars with buttons. Some buttons light up when they are off. I think the logic is if the functionality is to turn off something it lights up when it is off, f.ex. turn off climate. And then the other way around for f.ex. turning on seat heating. I have been driving a VW for while with their new touch screens. But was still a bit confused using the ID.3 screen when test driving. Hopefully we will get used to it when we get our ID.3 and had it a week or two.

Apart from the price, the rear drum brakes for the ID.3 are a very pleasant surprise. No rust, no maintenance, just superior. (not for the Nürburgring of course) I heard this is possible because VW cleverly uses regenerative braking for braking power. Nobody else has that, well done VW. I wish Teslas had drum brakes in the back.

Heat pump is very useful if you camp in the car. If your car consumes ~ 18kwh in 100km, you can get to ~ 17kwh with heat pump... But that also means that you start with somewhat hot car or drive more then 100km...
As far as I know, Norwegian cars come with heatpump as standard. But it's easy to calculate yourself. The difference between PTC and heatpump is about 500-1500 W. At 80 km/h, that's: 500 W / 80 km/h = 6 Wh/km 1500 W / 80 km/h = 19 Wh/km

Your consumption tests are very good. Do you also compare the energy you consume with what you charge to reach the same SoC? Another thought, it would be very interesting to know what EV's consume in typical city traffic. This is where the benefit should be as its greatest as compare to fossil cars - regenerative braking plus no motor idling...
I don't really understand this thing of having bigger and bigger wheels in cars. You get more road-noise and harshness and the wheels/tyres are more expensive. In return you get.... what? Sportier handling? Do we need that in a family car? I know that we appreciate less noise and more comfort all the time, but we don't really need nor appreciate sporty handling when driving down a motorway or driving in cities. We don't drive winding country roads so often that it makes sense to pick our wheels for that use-case.
@@kjellodnebreitebakk All of these tires have same width, 215mm. Only difference is the wheel-size and the height of the tire side-wall. Bigger the wheel, lower the side-wall. And that translates to more noise and harshness.

People are using smartphones for over 10 years, but VW is unable to develop a GUI that is easy to use. Software and Internet is #Neuland in Germany. Shame on my country.
That's because they had their software developed primarily by third party companies. Very little was done in house. That's why it's a confusing overcomplicated mess. They can't 'easily' just update the software and or build a new OS from scratch in house like many people seem to think.

I’ve tried both. The ID3 feels really good to drive. It has that premium german feeling to it for sure. Material wise (inside), it is not as top-notch as a Golf, but I like that they are trying to move to more eco friendly-ish/futuristic materials. Is it worth that much more over the Leaf? No, probably not. But I’m still going to choose ID3.
How can people be so naive? They had to cut costs on the interior in order to make the vehicle profitable, period. That's why it looks like a Dacia on the inside.

in Finland, this car cost 45,000e new and now 18,000e after 50,000km driven, so now it is right to buy an electric car in Finland

The Tech of course is somewhere in between the Plus and Max, in terms of specs, but with 18 inch. Seems a better mix to me.
