  • On this episode we take our stock trunk lid for the ‘29 Roadster body and start the rumble seat conversion. This conversion usually happens in the opposite way, but with a growing family and seats in dire straits, it’s time to make the rumble seat. The panels are separated and major rust repair is done. Stay tuned for part Two

    Louvers on the trunk is a style thing. I pinstripe the door jambs so.....do what you think is cool. Fantastic model for the t-shirts! Just bought two.

    Just one more thing at about 1600 my eye was drawn to the interesting wall art in the background of the radiator cowl. That looks like a interesting project.

    Louvers in body panels go back to early hot rods in US & salt flats. Way before PETA was a twinkling of your grand parents eyes

    Excellent work! Drain holes not a cop out. Henry should have put them in to begin with! Go Bennetts Customs, keep moving forward!

    Love louvers. They give the car that race car look that maybe it’s been on the salt or the lake bed. Plus they will give you 10 mph just standing still. Great repairs as usual. What’s your beer of choice castle main, fosters the amber nectar. Or a nice cold Guineas. Dam I’ve got to go work in three hours. Tim.

      I’m a Guineas person but it’s getting to around £40 a gallon! About 80 Aussie dollars. Petroleum is around£8 a gallon about 16 Aussie dollars. So don’t drink and drive. It’s to bloody expensive.

    I would Like to see some sort of center body line on the trunk lid then louvers.
    Especially when we’re talking about rust and debris getting into the trunk lid. I would think that louvers would make it weak?

    • @bennettscustomsco
      @bennettscustomsco  9 місяців тому

      Louvres definitely would t make it weak adding impression’s into the steel adds a rigidity

    Hi, great video…a question, you are moving around a round pad or cushion when you are working, what is that and why do you have it on the material you are working on?
    Thanks again for the videos and your creations

      Possibly talking about the sand bag? It’s used to shape steel, but also has a good amount of weight to rest of panels or steel sheets to help keep them in place!

    louvers on the trunk lid is silly. What ya trying to vent junior? Seeing louvers on a trunk lid makes me think you got some animal in the trunk that needs to breath!

    . * * * * What shielding gas do you use ? Why don't more fabricators use silicone bronze ? it requires much less heat , and cause less warping /. Nice work !
